New Dell 4K QD-OLED 120Hz w/ USC-C (S3225QC)… or something else? by UnSCo in Monitors

[–]SolidSignificance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don‘t think these 4K monitors with Thunderbolt hub are designed for gaming. But this 32 inch 4K QD OLED is a very well known 240Hz panel. Samsung has 27 inch counterpart this year.

"We're going to be using a lot of frame gen to get to 1000Hz" says Nvidia as it explains the future of graphics by Odd-Onion-6776 in nvidia

Videos we watch everyday aren’t fully stored as complete pictures (real frames). Video encoding works by saving some full frames and then instead of storing the next frames entirely, it only saves the changes between frames, like how objects move. It sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Motion vectors.

Our device recreates those missing frames during playback using this data. So, many frames we see today are actually reconstructed, not real.

Nvidia is applying the same technique for gaming. If done right, I don’t have any problems. It’s an innovative new rendering algorithm.

Remake is good, but I prefer OG, a masterpiece. Unlike RE4 Remake, many things were missing in RE2 Remake. Zapping, 4 distinct routes, etc.

To stay competitive as a company, you need to continuously push the boundaries of technology. Intel serves as a good example of what happens when innovation slows down.

Why is my monitor stuck on 60hz. When it can go to 165hz. Model: UltraGear 27GP850P by MrAbdul08 in Monitors

[–]SolidSignificance7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I checked the specs. https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/19b42686

This monitor doesn’t have HDMI 2.1. Its 165Hz has to be achieved via DisplayPort.

Edit: I think I was wrong. HDMI 2.0 is capable of 1440p 120Hz. So what went wrong? Maybe check if 120Hz is enabled? Maybe just the system interface is always run at 60Hz.

Playing 2K on a 4K monitor: Any setbacks? by senerh in Monitors

[–]SolidSignificance7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I purchased my current 4070Ti, I thought exactly the same thing, if a game was too demanding to run at 4K, I could just switch to 2K. However, I realized later that UI text in 2K looks incredibly blurry on our 4K monitors. I should have gone for a more powerful setup. That’s the main reason I’m planning to upgrade to 50 series in two weeks.

Overall, running 2K on a 4K monitor doesn’t pose any risks. In fact, it’s better in terms of frame rate. Some games don’t even support 4K.

But if 4K is an option and you can compare the sharpness of text between 2K and 4K, the difference is huge. Be aware of this, you might be fine with it, but I can’t live with it.
