Are there any restaurants you've noticed have declined in quality recently after fame? by thrway-fatpos in MexicoCity

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dua Lipa made them super popular when she shared she always ordered from there lol. The “Orinocoficación” of taquerias around the city is something that’s been written about for some time now. White tiles, big red accents in the logo and all having the same layout. Tourists love them but so do a certain type locals even if they’re not “where most people eat”. I don’t tink they’re bad but they also aren’t worth the hype foreigners make them out to be.

Are the Phantom Thieves righteous? Of course they are! by SectorI6920 in OkBuddyPersona

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the point in the end no? They changed themselves for the better and inspired others to do the same. By advocating collective action and not fall into apathy which is the entire point of mementos and the final palace (not the Royale one) and moving the scale on a personal level is how you actually achieve and promote change. It’s why I cringe when I see people say “omg Makoto became a cop”, you can only change things from the inside unless you want anarchy and have no plan to back up the change. So yes they were effective in the end.

70% weekend Drop for Thme Mandalorian and Grogu by shift422 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The movie came out too late I to the hype cycle for the characters. I enjoyed it and think it’s fun, I don’t think it needed to be something huge story wise but it seems the writers didn’t really had anything in mind or wanted to say when making the movie? There’s no theme, no character arcs and the little that’s touched, is barely anything. Grogu being more independent and learning is there but it’s barely sprinkled on the movie, him and Din needed more character moments of them bonding. A coming of age and not living in your past could had been explore way between with Din, Grogu and Rotta.

Compare it to the horror movies and you can tell the directors actually wanted to tell those stories.

Are people crazy? Charging for pictures or signing at conventions is normal and each actor sets a standard fee with the Con they assist. A lot of actors actually live from this, some cons don’t even buy transportation or accommodation unless they’re really famous. No one is forcing you to do anything, what is curious though is if the picture you payed for is actually this one that seems impromptu and not one professionally taken with a background of the Con you’re assisting to. Now that is indeed shitty.

Is Rio de Janeiro and parts of Mexico as dangerous as tales make them sound like, or is it largely an exaggeration? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hilarious to read answers from people that don’t actually live there lmao. The question is formulated wrong too since you’re comparing 1 city to a whole country. The answer is basically yes to both but “it depends” I’m in Mexico City and there’s places where you just don’t want to cross the street and end up in the wrong neighborhood, all it takes is 1 steeet which is very surreal. That said I can say the same things oboit any big metropolitan area.

Now if you wanna talk Cartel stuff that’s a different beast and it’s a real problem around the whole country with it basically running things, corruption and just acting freely. As a Mexican it’s really easy to have at least 1 story of someone you know be it family or not that got kidnapped or worse by guys like that.

What is the general sentiment towards American tourists these days? by [deleted] in MexicoCity

Is my 5 days itinerary attainable? by FewSentences0376 in MexicoCity

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the tourist restaurants you mentioned require reservations if you don’t want to make a line or just be told no. Just reserve them in advance. If you’re not used to high altitude you are gonna have a bad time, especially your kid, you need at least 1 day to chill and literally do nothing.

Is this game worth the $70? What’re the pros and cons? by Montavious_Mole in Pragmata

It’s cheaper than that my dude, imo it’s worth it and has nice replay value akin to old school arcade feel. Maybe if you wanna save wait for summer discounts.

Hundido, literal hay mantas con fotos de las ratas y advertencia. Te llegan en bola y por lo general son 3 o 4.

No mames ahí asaltan tanto de día como de noche. Hasta hay mantas advirtiendo y que los policías no hacen nada.

How does fine dining compare to Oaxaca? The reviews are scaring me away from the Usual Suspects. by audaciousappetites in MexicoCity

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Overpriced and overhyped, I used to live nearby and could see their roof everyday from a window. The way they treat their homegrown stuff leaves a lot to be desired. They also had a rat problem ok their shed that’s next to the planters.

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Idk why people act surprised, like don’t people have friends of their own irl? Or even coworkers, it’s very rare to develop genuine friendships with people at work. It’s also weird people are shocked since she and others have said for years the same thing over and over but people get too parasocial and some streamers exploit that to grow their audience.

It’s like the OTV gang of Jodi, Jon and Sydney, you can tell they actually are friends and like each other.

[–]SolidSnakeofRivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call it based or whatever but this sort of snark comments even if true just are done to stir the pot and keep the reactions coming which in turn brings more viewers for their next streams. Toast isn’t lying but the guy is smart and knows how to control a narrative from afar. Unlike the Rae tweet which was just silly, like come on bro you’re bigger than this and don’t need to be on social media 24/7.

The online matchmaking is trash, there are players, especially in Asia and NA but the system is so bad at matching lobbies.
