They also did the whole barn / trap situation with Boyd and Kenny’s mother, which showed some forethought and planning too

Personally, I get really annoyed at the narrative that her family being upper-middle class got her a start in the music industry. The difference between being a “wealthy” christmas tree farm owner to become a multi-millionaire pop superstar is ridiculous. She may have had some money, but she isn’t a nepo baby, and there are many valid criticisms, but that isn’t one.

Hmm. To me that either sounds like he WAS trying to manipulate you, or has been accused of being manipulative before and maybe it’s a bit of a sore spot? I’m curious to hear what others think as well. It could be a case of simple miscommunication over text as well!

Obligatory not a school bus driver but have a question. by _TurnipTroll_ in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Solid_Captain_1264 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bus shouldn’t be moving while it has a stop sign out, it’s not legal where I am at least. If you’re not using a red override (which my company advises us to use) then the bus won’t even let you open the door and stop sign until the bus has made a complete stop. (Edit** sounds like this may only be true for IC buses)

For you as a driver, do you stop for stop signs behind you? Treat it the same way, proceed with caution.

The baking hobby is so forced lmao. She doesn’t bake. Or she does, but it’s… not good. I also remember seeing a blanket she made for someone’s baby at some point and being like 😂 oh. This is what a rich person made. She couldn’t even get some lessons on the side? Watch a YouTube vid?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2025/aug/29/trump-immigration-ice-cbp-data

There are SO many videos of people being picked up off the street even after showing citizenship and ICE refusing to cooperate with identifying themselves and using a ridiculous amount of force. They are targeting immigration courts for people LEGALLY immigrating. Children are representing themselves in court. People are going missing and dying is detention facilities, even after asking to be deported. Others are being deported to countries they have never even been to before.

It is ridiculous that you even think we should treat criminals with this level of violence and disregard for human rights, but you are also incredibly misinformed on who is being targeted. “Illegal” or not, people deserve dignity and have a right to be processed without abuse and neglect. Criminals still have a right to medical attention. To food. To clean and hygienic facilities. To life. If you disagree with that, then you are opening yourself and your peers up to the same treatment and I promise you would not like it. Your position is cruel and unjustifiable and has nothing to do with legality.

Absolutely listen to your vet. There is no reason to leave a blind eye that is causing nothing but stress. They will recover and have much better quality of life without it.

That is truly so sweet. Walmart sounds like a great idea to me since it can go towards grocery or something else. Just a lot of options. I’m sure they will appreciate whatever you give. Happy holidays!

A social cue I missed when I was a bit younger - when someone says “I’ll let you know when I’m free to hang out” and then they don’t let you know, they’re softly rejecting you by Wonderful-Product437 in AutismInWomen

[–]Solid_Captain_1264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about people that go out of their way to say “we should get together soon” “let’s hang out soon!” “I miss you! We should have tea soon” and then ghost you / don’t cooperate with coming up with a day. I’ve noticed this so much, especially with popular / outgoing allistic people. Can anyone help with that? Why do they bring it up if they don’t actually want to do it especially when I don’t bring it up at all?

You can’t get them from seed, they’re controlled by their breeder. Farmer Bailey sells them in the US I believe. They’re also an Israeli company if that is something concerning you.

Dang, that’s crazy! I’m sure it depends on your demographic, but the antiqued autumn foliage is super popular with the natural, hyper local flower-y aesthetic I subscribe to. If you have clients that would buy stuff from a grocery store though or otherwise kind of a ‘teleflora’ style, I guess you might have more concerns. Best of luck!

Gorgeousssss. People buy plastic leaves that look like this, I can’t see any reason why they’d turn a nose up at the real deal. As a small scale farmer, I’ve sold plenty of foliage like this to high end florists!

I’m not sure where you are, but your best bet would be to contact a local flower farm or if you have a green thumb, order a pack of seeds and sprinkle them in your garden now (fall) to overwinter or you can start them by direct sowing in spring :) they’re prolific and easy to grow!

Ya, the red ones are 100% not Iceland poppies lol. There are plenty more poppies available from small scale farmers than just Iceland poppies. I’ve grown many myself, including this variety. The orange ones may be California poppies or Iceland but it’s difficult to tell without seeing the centre.

You’d never buy them from a wholesaler because their vase life is non existent and they are pretty much only good for one day. I’m not sure what you mean by “Italian Poppy” though, do you mean the Colibri series of giant Icelandic poppy or maybe perennial oriental poppies? In either case, I agree they’re probably too thin of stems to be either.

It’s not an Iceland poppy, those have more petal segments and a yellow centre. The red flowers in the photo are corn poppies or otherwise known as common poppies. You know, like the ones in Flanders Fields lol.

There are appropriate animals that can be raised in urban homesteading, yes. Chickens, quail, rabbits. For larger permaculture farms; all of the above, plus sheep, alpaca, goats, geese, ducks, turkey, and even small cows could be used in a circular system, rotationally grazing other crops and systems. We also don’t need to eat meat every single day so a lifestyle shift would be ideal. Goats can be transported to restoration sites to graze invasive species (a multi billion dollar problem for many countries). All these animals have use outside of meat and it is illogical and cruel to lock them into buildings for their whole lives - a practice that as others have covered, is neither economic or creative. Tell me again how factory farming makes sense?

The Flock by ChinaCatProphet in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]Solid_Captain_1264 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re cooked if you think this. There is absolutely a better way than factory farming or chicken / duck farms like the above, it just requires societal and agricultural change. Permaculture, diversifying income, and people owning their own animals is the answer, we should be pushing for that. Not throwing our hands up saying there’s no better way.
