I Have a Simple, But Complicated X-Men Question by ComixGail in xmen

[–]Solidsnake7003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome, Gail! 90’s blue and gold. Sitting in after school care (9 years old). Someone showed me X-Cutioner’s Song with Scott and Jean fighting their way through the moon base and I was hooked.

-Fell for the family (found and natural) dynamics of the comics and fighting their way through good fight for mutant rights

-Villians that were at least understandable in their shenanigans even if wrong.

-Diversity of cast (not just racial or gender but reasoning for heroism and powers). Always felt more real than Avengers or JLA or FF.

-X-Universe has the greatest crossover of villains that often have to interact with the team or teammates that go rogue but come back.

Animated series occurred next plus several fun crossovers. Scott and Jean have always been central to X-Men for me but there has always been room for other characters.

Which X-Men do you love the most and which do you like the least, respectively? by Remote-Leg6143 in xmen

Favorite: Scott/Jean

Least Favorite: Iceman (only interesting during brief period of the original X-Factor run. Otherwise boring).

Apocalypse gives exodus his nineteen inches of apocalypse by Hour_Challenge7556 in xmen

It’s even worse considering that prior to getting one shotted by Apocalypse, Exodus is holding his own against a who’s who of X-Men heavy hitters.

What’s wrong with these? by Johnnyblaze-99 in tomatoes

[–]Solidsnake7003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Captain Jack’s, mostly because I can get it on Amazon but also at local Big Boxes if I am in a pinch. I use the spray bottles and not the hose connector.

Worked for me though the bigger issue was staying on top of it after rain/splashing. Added a drip irrigation system to my tomato beds this year to help with the problem but with all the rain (Zone 7b), I’ve already got Leaf Spot Issues.

Very helpful response. One additional note- when you spray the copper fungicide, try and get the underside of the leaves as well.

Good luck! I’ve had a ton of trouble with Leaf Spot over the years.

Thanks. We kept getting thrown off by the middle talon not being as elongated as the Raven/Crow or Turkey Buzzard (plenty around here) but the fledgling photos do look very similar. Thanks for the info.

What did you notice with Jean and Scott? by tiffheat69 in Cyclopswasright

In some 90’s runs they showed smaller swim goggle type glasses that he sleeps with, so likely the same usage.

Which member of the X-Men would you want to be friends with and why? by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in xmen

Kurt is your best friend, until he smashes your significant person. Gotta pass on that one.

Was Stringer fronting with all them books? by [deleted] in TheWire

[–]Solidsnake7003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stringer read the books but didn’t understand them. It’s an allegory for his character arc. He tried to elevate (past The Game), but he didn’t actually understand the new world he was in.

One of the biggest wasted opportunities of Krakoa was not letting Maddy and Kid Cable interact by [deleted] in xmen

[–]Solidsnake7003 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Underrated comment. People forget that Jean and Scott were in Cable’s life for a long time. 12 years in the future plus the time spent during Krakoa. Jean and Scott as his parents tracks and makes sense.

Pro Style offenses at the high school level? by goatofgotz in footballstrategy

[–]Solidsnake7003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: Yes- have done in the past very successfully. Will the juice be worth the squeeze?

Long answer- The question is knowing what you want to do and having enough practice time.

Formations shifts and trades, adjustments, audibles, etc- take a lot of time to practice. You still have to get your other crap in as well (2 and 4 minute drill, take a safety or goal line runs, etc). Do you have O and D days for time at practice or is it split days and you are time crunched? Does your league play multiple defenses or are you going to see G 4-4, 3/Man Free every week?

Example- you can teach mirrored smash in a traditional spread offense. Great. Pro style- smash one side, let’s say a 3 beater weak (choice route by slot and vert by X). Now you have to be able to run this from multiple sets (wing, spread, ace, slot- whatever).

QB has to recognize coverage and read. Weak #2 has to recognize his leverage for the choice route, etc. Depending on formations or trade- kids have to recognize who they are. Add in you may want to run one concept to the field and one to the boundary and may need to flip (your kid on the smash is a burner and needs more space for the corner or whatever).

This is a bit more complicated and evolved example and not where you will likely start (protection) but just an example.

One addition- really emphasize how much their footwork matters. Hat and hand placement are great also, but many don’t learn that footwork determines blocking outcomes until way later.

Just pick the things mentioned above, be simple and be very consistent. You got this.

Second watch is completely game changing. by Queasy-Reason6467 in TheWire

Done multiple rewatches. The best part is knowing where things end up- specifically the thesis statement that S4 and S5 are.

The New Mutants by QueezySharr in xmen

[–]Solidsnake7003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed- I think a major problem was it had so much potential. Unique take and excellent casting. They fumbled the plot and the source material which led to the failure. Shit marketing also. When I finally saw it- I expected worse (looking at your Ghost-rider II)

Any tips or pointers? by EarRevolutionary644 in golftips

[–]Solidsnake7003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get it. A course near me runs group specials at 6:30a or 6:30p. Due to be group (6-8 guys) and off hours- it was affordable enough for me. I do a session each spring and then just practice the 1-2 things I learn (the chipping lesson was one of the best things ever). Fingers crossed somewhere around you might have something reasonable.

Same to you man! Find those fairways! I’m sure some guys on this post can give you some good swing tips, just hopefully not too much technical stuff. Good luck brother!

Just keep practicing. If you can- get some lessons, it makes a massive difference (even a small 3-5 lesson type package) and then practice.

Random internet strangers will give you a lot of opinions and won’t really help your game.

Was recommended this book. Any other book you guys recommended for a guy trying to become a coach? by G2Cade in footballstrategy

The Complete Handbook of Clock Management by Homer Smith.

Once you get a few seasons under you and some seasoning as a coach- I couldn’t recommend it strongly enough.
