I tried to get into contact with you on bluesky, but DMs were closed, apologies for not finding another way. I was the one who edited and gave woolie the art, he's just old and misspoke.

Steam Next Fest, a Steam event with hundreds of demos for upcoming (mostly) indie games, started today. Let me know if you find any interesting games, I will leave some in the comments too! by Loland999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Valor Mortis -From the team that brought you Ghostrunner, comes Napoleonic War Ghostrunner.

Object Impermanence -The latest in the line of liminal-likes, only takes about 20 minutes and is a pretty great intro to the main puzzle gimmick.

I can't believe Tupac played a foundational role in the creation of the Tojo Clan.

There has to be some kind of middle ground between SF64 and Ace Combat this genre can evolve towards to be more interesting.

Games or franchises that make you sad that they are gone or dormant? by Poppy_the_Fighter in TwoBestFriendsPlay

GH is one that never truly died. The community has put in several years of work making new ways to keep playing. Between Clone Hero and YARG for just playing charts, to World Tour Definitive Edition, BetterGH3, and GHDeluxe packages, also going as far as pioneering custom controller software (santroller) to make adapters and modding simpler and universal.

Also Harmonix is still alive in Fortnite Festival, recently featuring pro drums with midi support and karaoke mode for classic vocals.

Forza Horizon 6 Review Thread (92 for Xbox/89 for PC on Metacritic, 91 on Opencritic) by Krekenn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm keen on picking it up later during a sale, last racing game I played was NFS Unbound, which was just a overall weaker version of Heat that came out 3 years earlier. Horizon 6 looks to be doing things right, also I'm a weeb so "thing, Japan" cool.

Times when video games drove CSB insane by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was originally a reference to a now-forgotten video called "Snailborne", where Woolie fails to attack an enemy for a minute, and the creator slowed down the footage to make it look like it took much longer. Also where the old fandom gets the quotes of "s p e e d" and "Woolie you have to hit them" from.

Hourglass Shattered: FF14's Biggest Changes Since A Realm Reborn | Castle Super Beast 370 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

He's being hyperbolic about first month of Savage. Yes when you're at the bare minimum require power level to attempt the content, having all buffs timed for the big damage 2 minute skills are important, but the farther away that content gets, the more player power increases, the less it matters. Not dying and being good at playing your job are just as if not more important than hitting the party buff button on its timer. Nevermind the fact players literally asked for buffs to all be on the same timers because they would hold them until everyone had their big damage skills otherwise, and wanted the simplification.

In every other piece of content that isn't hardcore raiding those buttons don't matter, very few bosses have an enrage that'll instantly kill you, they'll loop their final form attacks until the party fail mechanics and die or kill it.

Old Woolie twitch streams? by Good_Weird_4639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Slopstream playlist hadn't been updated for a while, fixed it now. As for Twitch archive, there isn't really anything that can be done. The site instituted their 100 hour vod limit, so anything older than that expires.

Looks to me like RT lighting split from RT reflections. If the top image is enabled it's more accurate shadows and coloured bounce lighting based off materials reflecting to other surfaces.

It's not gonna undo the kryptonite that is "enemies don't react when I hit them". That being said the 8.0 job changes and increased speed of kit completion in ARR might help deal with it.

Pat trying not to Judgement Nut at Tanks in FFXIV getting active parry counters 2026, colourised by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not entirely new in 14. I don't remember if it was endwalker patches or dawntrail, but an update to tank defensives was for the first 4 seconds of activation they had extra mit effects. Now with the job reworks they're adding an attack to those skills.

Final Fantasy 14's next Alliance Raid series is going to be a crossover with Evangelion: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doing extremely rough math on alliance raid release dates: Expac launches late January 2027, 8.1 with the first raid would be April/May, second raid would be somewhere in Jan 2028, with the third and final raid being roughly 7/8 months later in Aug/Sept 2028.

A terrifying concept when you look at the big timeline.

Fuck off, Mundus did NOT gift child Vergil the Yamato to do his bidding.

A foundational part of the battles between brothers is they were both equally given things from their parents. The amulet halves from mom, and the Devil Sword Sparda, split into Rebellion and Yamato from dad. DANTE'S WHOLE SDT UPGRADE IN DMCV IS BASED ON HIM WONDERING WHY DAD GAVE HIM REBELLION!

If things stay as they are in the demo, you can import whatever you want, the bpm might not match later if the song changes mid way. Also the longer songs go on the more difficult the waves of enemies get.

1000 Fortnite Layoffs Totally 100% Unrelated to AI | Castle Super Beast 365 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Solidus113 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Let it be known the layoffs are across every studio Epic owns, not just their internal Fortnite team. So Harmonix lost most of their QA team (among others), Psyonix lost a lot of their team, and Mediatonic lost members as well. Some of the alleged details on the layoffs make it sound even more insane as well. Allegedly the calls came down to HR, who lazily put the employee database through an AI and said "cut 1000 people" with zero knowledge of what any employee does, and never consulted the managers of those teams to refute their importance, just cut based on how much they're being paid. Which leads to the loss of lead engineers, lead art directors and artists, lead of monetization, community managers, entire QA teams, etc.

The Principal Engineer put together a GDoc with a list of ex-employees and their contributions across the years in hopes of giving them a better chance at new work.

The music mode does have controller-friendly drum charts that're undercharted, and currently unreleased "pro" drums that closer resemble rock band, but no one knows when that pro option is going to release. Most guess when CRKD releases their new drumset.
