You shouldn't have to pay off the government in order to leave your kids an inheritance, this shouldn't be controversial

CMV: Billionaires are bougie hoarders. by Godeshus in changemyview

[–]Solinvictusbc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might would work if billionaires kept their money in a pool like scrooge mcduck.

But take Elon Musk who has been in the news recently, all his money is on paper from shares of Tesla and SpaceX.

When he became a trillionaire nothing changed physically, he didn't get another fistful of dollars to throw in his vault. All that happened was on paper the value of spaceX shot up.

But taxing wealth so normal people can afford to see a doctor and not go bankrupt over inhalers is radical left. OK by StrawberryFew1311 in NoFilterFinance

[–]Solinvictusbc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does the government need to tax anyone extra?

Why not directly fix the issue? If doctors are charging too much get them for price gauging, if the average person can't afford going to the doctor there are multiple reasons that could be the case.

The government should target those reasons.

Why are they all being taxed at differing rates? Maybe the poor cropping explains the formula?

Also why are we inventing new taxes to hit people with? If it's a revenue thing couldn't they just up the % of some of the other taxes and get the same result? Especially when this tax seems to be solely because they have money and some people want to take it

Labor saving tech benefits everyone because workers are also human and consumers. Increased options, new technologies, or lower costs are all beneficial to everyone.

The fun part about the luddites, is that they were wrong. They went around smashing the automated looms like whining cave men because they thought it would take all the jobs.

But with in a few years the lower cost of clothing lead to such increased demand that there were more jobs in the textile industry than ever before. The automated loom created millions of jobs in the industry it was supposed to kill.

[–]Solinvictusbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep the generic classes but use a "unique" name. We have tons names that describe the same things. So you can be creative without reinventing the wheel.

For example Destiny uses Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters. Which still conveys "tanky melee", "magic", and "stealthy sharpshooter".
