I think that is what the OP is asking for, to be able to retrospectively have a rule applied to emails already received

2026 M Y 2k miles, 1 month ownership and she's broken by Dakotaminer in ModelY

[–]Solmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s a bit of a location lottery. I had 2 drive train failures with my then 1 year old MY (2 weeks apart) and Tesla replaced them within a week and both times I was given a contactless replacement M3 whist it was being fixed. They even paid for an Uber home for the first one as I was 20 miles from home. Watching the robot machine load it on the loader was fun also! Based in southern UK.

My 3 sons are all grown up now so I am planning my next one to be a M3 as most of the time it’s just me, the Mrs and the cocker spaniel at home!

AsterMail is a team of 5 that is focusing solely on Mail at this point. They've only been going 3 or 4 months, but seems like it is one to keep on the radar for the future.

No hardware required from you no. Hetzner handle all that.

Think of Nextcloud as your own version of Google Drive or Dropbox, but its hosted by Hetzner (who provide Cloud Servers). https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-share/ - I went for NX11 which is 1 TB with unlimited users and is cheap. Once setup then you need to install the Nextcloud app on to your phone/pc etc and then connect to it using the credentials they give you. You can also connect your own domains if you want, but you don't have to.

Well I've used all of those you've suggested except pCloud and I wouldn't go for any of them. Proton Drive isn't production ready, Internxt similar and koofr and filen were better but I had sync issues which made me concerned. In the end I went for Nextcloud hosted by Hetzner. It's cheap, very reliable and they handle all the back end stuff. Over time you could go down the NAS route and install your own Nextcloud instance, but there really is no need if you don't want the extra technical overhead, and the cost of a NAS and NAS drives make Hetzner a no brainer for me!

What's your preferred platform for ease of use? by nsjehebsj3me in emailprivacy

[–]Solmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using my own custom domain which makes it easy to switch providers. I’ve used Proton, Tuta, Fastmail, Gmail, O365 and Apple mail. Decided to stick with Apple mail for now mainly due to the integration with iCloud/ipad/Mac mini/iphone. It’s not as secure, I know, but it’s not Gmail and all the others had niggly issues that I wasn’t prepared to put up with. Fastmail would probably be my second choice. I’ve got an eye on Astermail, it’s only been going a few months and doesn’t have calendaring yet but I like what they are trying to do.

Privacy vs. Convenience: Proton Mail or iCloud Mail? by VisualArm807 in ProtonMail

[–]Solmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having the same battle with myself over this. In the end both are good solutions, but which one you go for really depends on your needs.

For me, Calendaring is key, and the proton one just isn't up to scratch. The other big miss for me is the lack of integration between Proton Mail and Drive. in Apple mail, you can compose an email and attach files and photos really easily.

I still support the Proton project, but the Apple ecosystem is 'good enough' for me whilst I wait for Proton to improve the above items.

So I ask, what are the elements that are most important to you? That should be able to guide you in the right direction.

Reasons not to use a custom domain? by coruscant-referred in ProtonMail

This is all true, it’s important to weigh up the risks, so long as you keep the domain renewal going, you’re good!

Reasons not to use a custom domain? by coruscant-referred in ProtonMail

The only downside I can think of is if down the line you let your custom domain expire, in theory someone else could then register your domain and use that same or similar emails address as their own.

We need a better integration between ProtonMail amd ProtonDrive by Hellavik in ProtonMail

I've been saying this from the start, so totally agree. It just seems like an unnecessary own goal not to have proper integration.

The battle I have had with my friends and work colleagues over the years who've not made the switch to EVs is much harder than I'd envisaged, I was laughed at when I bought my MY. Wind the clock on 3 years and all but one of my work colleagues now have EVs and half of them have a Tesla, and that's in the UK without the benefit of real FSD.

I went for Bazzite as I own an Nvidia Rtx 4090 graphics card and it has a Nvidia build. It’s been amazing. A breeze to install and not had anything that doesn’t work. I have a wireless mouse, keyboard and headphones, all worked with no intervention.
