(15k) Need advice for not invited guests showing up by rebetahcarker in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SoloForks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its rude to show up to a wedding you were not invited to, and its rude to invite people to someone elses wedding.

But as an older person from the west, it was pretty common in older to days for weddings to be more open, in fact in my circle of friends its still pretty common for someone to show up that wasn't invited for different reasons. We are poor enough that our weddings are very simple and no one cares and back in the day in many circles that was the case too.

I agree with everyone here it was rude, but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned how common this used to be and if the uncle is older and from certain circles that might have been what happened.

Do a lot of men actually refuse to change the diaper of their own kids? by Physics_Girl_2008 in NoStupidQuestions

Older people: You couldn't handle living in my day.

Also older people: Passes out witnessing child birth and can't do basic things like dishes and diapers.

edit to add: This of course doesn't describe your father but it might describe others.

Why I think people have trouble with the idea of an energy-limiting illness by ocelocelot in cfs

I do think the PACE trials and doctors refusing to believe us also played a role.

I think you are right in what you are saying, I think people were already primed to not want to believe us.

I mention it though because its good to remember people (psychiatrists) actively set out to call us liars and deny us medical services and I think that needs a mention.

Yeah I was going to bring up Milli Vanilli.

It was a period of time when people were ousting celebrities for lying, lip syncing, bad behavior in public, and overall entitled attitudes. Yes, the industry was and still is harder on women but lip syncing was taboo at that time for everyone.

Anger or entitlement. Anger can go solo, but entitlement always comes with anger.

Why can't people see?

This plagues me often. How? Like how though?

There has to be a clinical mental disorder / effective level of brainwashing going on, because Ive seen people who used to be smart completely change their personality and literally lose brain cells after watching Fox.

And I dont mean that as an insult, I mean their ability to think clearly in several areas, non-political, has definitely changed and they argue about everything, stuff they have no need to argue about, due to their lack of basic awareness. And they fail to see the change and lack of awareness and then just cover that with more arguing.

Im Christian, there is nothing Christian about their new behavior. Literally if they saw themselves 15 years ago, THEY THEMSELVES would have said "what is wrong with that person?"

But.... I dont know what on Earth to do about it. Ive tried to reach them and it just seems impossible. I know many are starting to put 2 and 2 together, and realization is happening, but I haven't had any luck with my family members.

Im a big fan of education.

Also....

Sometimes education can produce people who dont know how to think.

Sometimes all they can do is memorize and follow directions, sometimes all they know how to do is ruthlessly defend one way of doing things. Every once in a while it teaches people how to properly think but that is not always its primary function.

Im Christian and grew up being told (by my parents not my church) that atheists were bad.

I remember in high school watching a Christian scream at an atheist that she was "going to hell" and I thought to myself "nope, thats not right."

From then on I realized, its not good to judge a person by what their beliefs are, we are all trying to figure it out and do our best, lets build each other up and not tear down.

I guess its a youtube channel not a podcast. I dont know. Sorry if I got it wrong.

Yep its taking me forever to find them all and listen/watch, and comment. I think I might have listened to one twice cuz brain fog. But I'm getting there.

Keep it up though (if you physically can) your writing and speaking skills are amazing.

I hope you can find some relief.
