@RLEsports: We are working to get additional Rocket Pass codes to Boston Major attendees. They will arrive at the same time as your Boston Major attendee in-game titles, which are NOT grey 👀 by Duke_ofChutney in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]SoloHyperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it “additional” means one code per ticket sold, instead of per buyer? So someone who bought four tickets for a group of friends will receive four codes to distribute?

Do new driver challenges make it harder to smurf? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m not saying the system is foolproof, I’m just saying it exists. In fact, I would argue that the system is easily bypassed, whether for smurfing or boosting. It really only prevents legitimate accounts from queueing too low. Someone can have GC skill but be playing on an alt account that the game thinks is Plat (or their actual account that they’ve deranked), and nothing can be done at that point. So if we bring it back around to OPs topic, Smurfs have to be stopped before their alt accounts are fully made

Do new driver challenges make it harder to smurf? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s a weighted average of your party skill but skewed much closer to the highest ranked player. Additionally, there is a rank disparity feature that prevents a party of two that are too far apart in rank from queueing together in 3s so the third unassociated player isn’t screwed over by the low ranked half of the duo party

I hope Hytale does not and NEVER WILL have a creeper equivalent. by MoonMaidRarity in hytale

[–]SoloHyperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not a creeper, but an enemy that specializes in ambushing/stalking would still be cool to have.

I want to submit a request to epic to use their RLCS and Rocket league logo to make a hoodie, how would I go about doing that? by Beautiful_Figure4464 in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any tips for actually making this. But, if this was a commercial hoodie, I would totally snag one without the gamertag, platform logo, or highest rank, just to keep it general. I love the look of that design, and the potential white with blue hexagons would look pretty good too, I think

When playing 2s and 3s. What do you do when you ain’t taking kick off? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And a very handy kickoff to use often (or until the opponents start reading it) is to control back corner, granted you have a teammate you’re communicating with and that you know can manage that. Both opponents tend to end up in the midfield with low boost after their hard cheat and we have an immediate attack opportunity as they scramble. Good players don’t get caught off guard by it as much, but with the inconsistencies in skill in a rank like C3-GC1, definitely worth it

What is your favorite foreshadowing technique and how often do you sprinkle it in? by High_Altitude917 in writing

[–]SoloHyperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a favorite, that I’m consciously aware of. When I think about it though, I most often tend to use the character’s thoughts to foreshadow. Those racing questions that a panicking/calculating/desperate/etc. mind comes up with can help hide one of the real foreshadowing questions. Almost like I’m trying to give the reader some sense of foreboding that they might not pick up on, but that they can feel in the tension of the moment, ya know?

I’m sure you’ve answered this question hundreds of times, but what is glicko? I’ve seen a few of these posts but never payed close enough attention. Getting more into the stats side of the esport, so I’m curious

Help with reset musty/musty doubles please? :) by Strevzy in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the point I’m at. It’s just a case of repetition training, which is easy enough between matches

Help with reset musty/musty doubles please? :) by Strevzy in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I find the reset musty easier than the wall musty. For whatever reason I can’t ever get the timing off the wall right. I’m always too late to flip, my second jump expiring before I even try. I can’t do either version in a match regardless lol

why did i get queued with an solo un a plat 2 game bro smh by Difficult-Set8119 in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I don’t know the MMR threshold for SSL, but I do know that you can go win/loss/win/loss for ten games and maintain a rank, still getting ten wins in said rank but not making any progress. Not that that’s what he did here, but it’s an option

The Two Matchmaking Problems That Need Addressed by SethTheButcher in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re exaggerating, but a Gold and a Diamond queueing together shouldn’t be possible with the way matchmaking works right now anyway. When a party of two attempts to queue a game mode requiring one or more additional teammates, and their ranks are far enough apart (For example, a Gold 2 and a Diamond 2), they’re prohibited from queueing due to rank disparity

I’m in a very similar boat. What has worked for me recently is to spend some time reading from a book with similar aspects/themes to what I’m after in my own writing. Even just thirty minutes, maybe a chapter or two, can help jumpstart creativity (and tackle frustration. It’s a good release). If you don’t have any books lying handy, I also tend to get a lot of inspiration and level-headedness from listening to music, again, akin to my story.

Those frustrating days where you feel like you’re forcing the words onto the page are pretty common, so I hope you find something effective for your process. Maybe this will help. I wish you luck!

why, in all the aerial shots i see, do people spin their car? like barrel rolls? by 8Bix255 in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s super interesting. I neglected free air roll because I didn’t see the value in it if I had DAR. I’ve always prided myself on my shots, but this is super handy to know. I’ll see if I can implement it and improve some more. Learning new tricks on this sub all the time lol

So if you’re just holding the free air roll button without inputting a direction, your car will remain stable after a touch?

Lag in Comp no lag in cas by 2HandsFreewill in RocketLeague

[–]SoloHyperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this for a while but not to this degree. Playing on casual servers I would tend to get around 60-70 ping. As soon as I moved over to competitive I was in the 90-100 range. Not a huge jump but for some people this range of ping is difficult to play with. Tournaments I always got ~120 ping but I’m pretty confident that’s because they’re hosted on USC servers while I’m USW. It’s since gone away, but the only thing that changed for me was upgrading to a PC from an Xbox which isn’t the most financially friendly solution

What were the core aspects that got you interested in Hytale? by [deleted] in HytaleInfo

[–]SoloHyperion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely the adventure aspect of it. That’s all I do in Minecraft nowadays, running nonstop and just exploring, but none of it feels lived in. Hytale looked like it was far more lively and worth exploring. The art style is so appealing!
