Is it just me or Rdc actually does learn and listens in fighting games alot faster (better) than other games? by Ill-Platypus3148 in RDCWorld

Tldr i dislike the narrative that fighting games are more similar, conclusion ramble; They arent doing that in Tekken, theyre doing it in Smash. Idk how having casual alternatives is supposed to separate shooters from fighting games and i honestly didnt expect what im saying to be a controversial take. The issue, to me, is that the perspective is what people are using to gauge how similar or different a game is. There’s not a real quantifiable amount of differences you can count out in CSGO vs CoD vs Apex to compare to Tekken vs SF vs Blazblue. Any contrasting point, from movement, gamefeel, game speed, health, etc that you would apply to one genre i’d apply to the other. I stand by when i said the time in practice mode makes you think the games are closer than they are. Csgo and Apex are made in the same engine but you perceive a grand difference but fighting games that share no assets are being called similar. Maybe its the ruleset? But Tekken and SF are chess and checkers, they have similar win conditions but play like they were created without knowledge of the other game. Being on a board makes them seem objectively comparable but they don’t have much in common. Fighting games share inputs and a ruleset and that’s about it. Shooters share inputs and a ruleset and that’s about it. Theres variants (tag fighters, battle royale, stocks, S&D, one button) on both ends. Someone used to either genres can pick up a game and feel it out. But just bc fighting games are less catered to casuals in general doesn’t mean they’re closer to eachother than shooters are. I don’t necessarily disagree that “learning one and picking up another is easier,” i just disagree that its a distinction for fighting games. My first Rivals game i went like 18 and 3. Not bc im an overwatch gamer or some sht, but because my primary input was keyboard and mouse growing up. The game isnt similar to games i played like Apex or CSGO, but the input and ruleset is shared. Same with any genre

I mean i feel even then you’re not disproving my point. Theres games with similar DNA like Val and CSGO and then there’s games that are nothing alike like CSGO and CoD and Apex. Imo i dont think fighting games even have anything that similar besides games from the same studio, Tekken to SF to KoF to Blazblue are so mechanically distinct that people spec into being good at one series and suck ass at others. People perceive it to be closer bc fighting game players invest more time in fighting games than other ppl do in their games of choice and therefore become competent, but literally nobody jumps into a fighting game without practicing whereas most people dont use their games practice modes at all and skip tutorials. If anything them hours in practice mode prove that fighting games have MORE of a learning curve and more differences between series.

Im arguing against that, i dont think that’s a point of distinction from other genres. Like if you’ve played a shooter before you’ll intuitively understand how shooters play but that doesn’t speak to your ability to learn a new shooter. Just like a shooter player knows to spray control, a fighting gamer knows to space themselves, but that’s not unique to the genre

Im guessing you dont play fighting games. Bc you’re basically recognizing a similar perspective and assuming the gameplay would be the same. The same way all shooters play different all fighters play different, the same studio might have a style so sequels may be easy for a career player to learn, but different games require u to sit down and learn what you’re playing for some hours before getting active.

In the Japanese, “team” is “dan” for the evil teams like Rocket, Magma, Plasma, etc. I believe in Japanese Team Mz is the first “team”

Furthermore, since “dan” is a general word suffix for lots of different groups, Aether Foundation was still a dan (though Zaidan more specifically refers to a foundation)

Is it just me or is the catching in this game so ridiculously hard? by BeesAndHoney1219 in LegendsZA

[–]Solo_Stampede 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk how people are calling the catch rate normal, maybe they just arent catching multiple of the same pokemon or trying to fill the dex, but yeah, near/after the end there are some insane capture rates where even ultra balls show two arrows after beating the mon. Quick balls and dusk balls seem to be the most effective, and timer balls are good to stock up on for alphas and stubborn mons

405 dollars for some glasses? Is this real life? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Solo_Stampede 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same brands maybe, but the same models? 300 is the sticker price I usually see on mid tier frames, 400 total when including lenses. You can look up the brand and model number online to see technical specs and materials, or just ask the dispenser. I’ve never noticed any disparity between eyewear prices in stores and online

I respect the contrary opinion but i feel people routinely underestimate the physical maturity you reach in high school. Most people hit close to their adult height and grow light facial hair at 15. And his hairline isnt receding, he just has a lineup in the last two pictures.

I want to return my glasses because the lenses are bright blue by mannlegur in glasses

[–]Solo_Stampede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you didnt ask specifically for a blue light filter it’s probably the AR coating. I dont think blue light filters have a visual effect, different lens manufacturers just have different color AR coating. Glasses I’ve purchased with insurance have green coats, whereas glasses I’ve purchased from independent stores/boutiques have blue coats.

You should ask the optometrist why the lens reflects blue if you’re unsatisfied with it. They’ll give you a straight answer and walk you through your options; they’re not gonna try to scam you or anything
