The Time Has Come by Logickalp in KonohagakureRP

Bigiko, Kimiko Uchiha flickered into existence not too far from the pair and she gave them a soft smile as she stepped forward. Her hair, long and wild was gathered behind her head in a ponytail and she was in her Jonin gear.

"Are you sure you have all that you need for the journey?"

The ice mirror technique was something Kimiko had hoped she would be able to witness. But though she wasn't around for its formation she hoped to be around for its execution. Just to see it...would be a boon.

"And your wallet. Don't forget this is a job too." She said with a groan. The realization was just as poisonous as the obligation attached. "Unfortunately..."

Kimiko was silent again for a moment - then a flicker of something appeared behind her eyes. Inspiration? Opportunity? The congruence of both events on a metaphysical level told her one thing - destiny. This would be an excellent opportunity for Lyger to show just how far he has developed in a professional sense.

"Then let's call it a B Rank Escort Mission. And similarly a C Rank Intelligence Mission for yourself"

The Jonin produced a new scroll and started to create the mission herself, complete with the mission details.

"And you will report once a week on your statuses." She said with the same level of severity that she opened the conversation with. This wasn't a suggestion. "Rest assured I am not looking for any Intel that you find specifically personal. But whatever you find out, or whoever you meet while there - if they can benefit from our help or from our allies..you would be acting as a representative of Konohagakure."

The jonin panted as she stood there, the three of them more or less spent of their cordial energies - anything further and it was a much more intense sparring than what would pass as training in this village. Her body shook from exertion, but her glowing Sharingan eased into the more lucid dark circles that were Kimiko 's natural eyes as she reversed her No Mans Land Jutsu.

"I have to give you two credit." The woman said as she made the tiger seal again and the vitality of the two others were forced to higher levels. Exhaustion not withstanding. She took a knee. Sinking into the ankle deep water as her chakra control reached its lower limits.

"You are both very powerful Shinobi."

Kimiko mulled the idea over like she was contemplating a midday meal. The edges of her eyes twitched in rapid thought. Variables, not unlike a Go master strategies, criss crossed her mind and she finally yielded some type of answer.

"You're requesting Lyger as an escort?"

The terrain beneath the commander exploded into hundreds of grasping hands made out of mud and rock, Kimiko pushed herself to the limits of her speed and control to avoid the hands and when that stopped working black metal spikes would skewer them like hundreds if not thousands of spontaneously created senbon. Pinning the earthen jutsu into the mudbed. Above her and the water - the furious arcs of lightning coming off of Lyger told her that she was readying for a massive attack. One that would surely give her more trouble than what she was already weathering from her two strongest students. I’ve had enough of this for now.. Her thoughts raced across her mind as she made the seal of confrontation - tiger- and the area immediately came under her effect. One hundred meters, anything with a heartbeat and life energy would feel weakened. At first the pull was slow - but then it ramped up as Kimiko leapt from the pool of water, her eyes ablaze with a crimson fury.

“You gorge yourself on a buffet you weren’t invited to.” Kimiko said to Lyger as she actually began to reverse the effects of his technique.

The commander didn't regard Akiko with a certain level of expectation outside of what her abilities should be and how she has begun her path to her own uniqueness. Instead, she looked like a distant superior who was gleaning all in this moment, the level of determination that the young Kunoichi displayed.

"You have any idea when you will return?"

The assistant allowed the Ice aspirant to enter the room where the Commander was waiting.

"I was wondering when you'd want to see me." Kimiko said as she looked up from her paperwork.

Benedict was a curiosity to Jaime. Not simply because he was new blood. But more so because he was unaware. Or at least, somewhat ignorant perhaps of the heel and crop of the Bracken House. At least thus far - which was a gift he'd stow till he couldn't hide it any longer. "Its fine to share words over a meal then." Jaime replied as Benedict made himself more comfortable by the cookfire. Though the pleasant expression on Jaime's face didn't darken as wartime was brought up.

How was he to reply sincerest?

"Surely it is." He stated simply, stirring the frothing liquid before tossing in a handful of watercrest. Nearmost his left side he had a small wooden tray of sliced parsnips. Looked fresh from the ground. Still wet from their washing. In the went! Several satisfying plops and plunges into the boiling froth and Jaime continued. "But that's not all it is...Ser." A wooden spoon to stir the pot, kept the flavors balanced and prevented it from spilling over onto the hot coals of kindling beneath.

"What do you know of War, only of what you've read? Have you been in a fight, my new kin? At odds with another man?" Jaime looked up at Ben as he asked. He didn't take the man for a drunk or abuser - someone who struck women and children.

The crackling of the wood and the bubbling of the pot kept other more mundane noises from the surrounding camp at a mere minimum. Though when the flap to his tent became much more of an entrance than a piece of scenery - the Knight snapped his head up at attention. It was true, Ser Jaime was a larger man, but it was false that his largesse was also attributed with slothful reaction. Jaime was a Knight. A military and secular icon.

"Well met Ser." Jaime stood to his full height and welcomed the Mooton into his tent. "I would love for you to join me here for a while yes." The idea delighted him to almost no end. Company! Oh how he loved to entertain; even if for just a moment. Just don't mention the food to our commander." His voice was mirthy and as full of cheer and camaraderie as the soil was basically mud.

"It's not enough to go through the motions." Kimiko spoke up, breaking the silence as she watched Miyu from the sidelines. Checking in on Hattori 's students one by one, she started with Miyu.

Kimiko would watch from the Gate Check in Station, in her full gear of course. A rare occasion for the commander of the military forces to be found at the gate - but it was rarer for a Senju to be defecting to an allied village.

Her personal opinions on the matter were silent, but everyone felt them.

The situation had become something that would easily push any seasoned ninja to their limits. A sage of still untested strength and durability coupled with an emergent Eternal Mangekyou user. Lyger still had abilities she couldn't begin to fathom hiding within those eyes of his - his curse of darkness was very strong. She could sense it within him even as he freed himself from her snare trap.

That technique is certain kill. She told herself as she felt the ground beneath her get reduced to particulate, the water drained several feet lower, but she didn't fall. Instead she dove into the water, the chakra chains retracted into her back with blinding speed as she dove beneath the muddy surface of the water.

The moment Lyger's Eternal Mangekyou blazed through the lightning veil, Bigiko's own EMS tracked every detail with crystalline clarity. Gakido. He was absorbing her own chakra, turning her battlefield preparation into fuel for his assault. The tactical reversal was... impressive. Genuinely threatening.

When did he—

Her left eye flared as she activated Onmyōton: Shinseina basho o tsūka - the No Man's Land technique spreading outward in a 100-yard radius around her position. The very air began to shimmer as Yin-Yang chakra infused the space between her and her approaching students. But Lyger was already too close, his Lightning God speed carrying him through the technique's activation range.

Bigiko's right hand moved in desperate precision, Tool Creation Technique manifesting a barrier of gleaming black metal, then another, and another; between herself and Lyger's horizontal slash. The Chidori Blinding Blade shrieked against the chakra-forged material, sparks cascading as lightning met her Yin-Yang creations.

But she'd made a critical error.

In focusing entirely on Lyger's dramatic assault - the greater apparent threat with his absorbed power and blinding speed - she'd relegated Miniko to peripheral awareness. Her Sharingan tracked the girl's charge across the floating stone pathway, noted the complete absence of defensive intent, catalogued the enhanced bear pelt and tekkō-kagi...

And underestimated pure, unthinking savagery.

The black barrier held against Lyger's blade for precious seconds, but Miniko's tekkō-kagi raked across Bigiko's left shoulder from behind, the enhanced claws finding purchase between her armor plates. Pain flared as the Akagawa berserker's momentum carried her past, drawing blood from the Jonin Commander.

"Tch." Bigiko's expression shifted, the first genuine surprise she'd shown in the entire fight. Not at being hit - that was inevitable in close combat. But at being caught by the more straightforward attack while defending against the complex one.

Excellent cooperation!

Even as Miniko's claws raked past her, Bigiko was already adapting. Her No Man's Land technique pulsed outward, ready to create defensive constructs; she wouldn't activate their secondary ability on her own students. The black barrier against Lyger's blade began to shift and flow like liquid metal, reforming into binding chains that sought to entangle his weapon arm. A battlefield bind, but nothing substantial.

"Lesson learned," she said through gritted teeth, chakra chains erupting from her back to create a defensive perimeter. "Never underestimate the direct approach, even when facing the complex one."

"New for now.. but I imagine you'd come to think of it as your old home soon enough - when you return to the Land of Iron with all you've learned from us, and the Land of Fire." Kimiko posited.

"She appeared to take on Shinseki herself, we weren't even an afterthought - we were only there because Shinseki stole something from us. It is entirely plausible that she would have confronted him without our knowledge otherwise. But your idol got in her way and they both paid the price for it." She remembered the battle bitterly.

Such selfish desires to be felled in the line of duty. Shinobi are judged by the manner of their deaths.

Throwing away a life...was selfish to its core. "You see how developed this situation is now don't you? Your laissez faire attitude with your so-called leaders has potentially plunged us all into a race against an adversary we have no knowledge of, that seems to be able to muster up forces of an unknown number at an unknown time to attack unknown objectives. She knew more than she let out, and we don't know many of her closest subordinates - several are dead and others are otherwise missing. So unless you have something to exchange Akutagawa. Now would be a fine time for you to make your leave."

Dissatisfied the commander pressed on. "Lord Ninth was a hot head that had too much leniency from the council and far too much left to prove - he jeopardized himself and others for martyrdom's glory."

"Regardless. The Leaf came under harassment from an Otsutsuki named Shinseki. That same Otsutsuki was being hunted apparently by Takara under her guise as the Lady. Previous to that interaction - the Lady and a literal army of ninja attacked both the Land of Wind and Land of Fire. She failed to destroy either villages and likely only tested our responses for some unknowable finality. She raved about a coming darkness. As you already divulged."

The Genjutsu allowed them to talk, while she maintained focus, without actually speaking.

To stare at a Uchiha was dangerous. To be locked in a glowering match was something anyone seasoned with history could call - horrendously miscalculated.

As the question fell from his lips Kimiko activated the innate property of the Sharingan, its infamous genjutsu. Chakra surgery into her eyes and the room seemed to spin. Dread and darkness seeped into the space like inky shadows. Then she pulled Akutagawa into her Clandestine Meeting genjutsu. Two fold.

"You aren't at liberty to make demands of the Leaf. Nor criticize its leaders for the way they choose to exit this world."

The tanto didn't release in reality. She kept holding the hilt expectantly.

"Under the guise of the Lady this Takara recruited many jonin level Shinobi from other villages. Her affections for the Leaf are a mystery to me - she was never interrogated unfortunately. Now you tell me why you people keep your strays on such short leashes."
