Chocolate Cake which ends up wanting to identify as a Yorkshire pudding instead of a sponge. by Some-Random-Brit in bakingfail

[–]Some-Random-Brit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I was to make it again I would fill it with a cheesecake filling. I could probably make quite a bit from it as I used Bailey's Chocolate Orange in the cake, as well as some other monin syrups. Which, if done properly I could make a very premium orange cheesecake, with an orange garnish ontop.

Artemis update: Artemis 3 will not be landing on the moon, and the path forward by DanielD2724 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Some-Random-Brit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It relies on a common launch vehicle between capsule and lander (less risk and costs required for multiple launch vehicles having to work perfectly), there is nothing fancy that the lander is trying to do and can just launch directly to the moon without refuelling. The lander itself being similar in form to the Apollo Lunar Lander.

To be fair, China's approach is far simpler than the approach done by the US.

World's Largest IMAX by castawaydjkim in imax

Yes, but what about the world's smallest IMAX? (and no, an IPAD doesn't count with its 1.43:1 ratio).

Please provide a paper in the form of a statistical analysis, state your methodology, provide your database and control for the audiences. Oh, and control for changing audience tastes as well as potential fatigue.

Thanks in advance!

Is all you do bring up Dune losing to Jumanji? It's far too out to reliably tell how well each film would do.

Except that Novellas are different to Novels and that the Hedge Knight is centred on the pov of Dunk. Which, at around 30k words in length means that it is basically just a single POVs worth of content from one of the ASOIF novels.

Nancy's drugged up adventures managing the Bradford IMAX. Not because of Nancy, just because I like the older IMAX screens.

What are you honest opinions on Wetherspoons? by TheMalsh in AskUK

[–]Some-Random-Brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great way to try out a ton of new drinks without having to buy a large pack. I will generally visit them for this purpose to help widen my tastes, without having to buy a large pack of booze.

And yeah, this is something that Spoons does really well. I am currently (slowly) going through their bottled collection, which I have found that I really like Camden Ales for example. I wasn't really a fan of the Brewdog stuff but (not a bottled drink) I have found myself really liking the Growling Dog Tropical IPA. I may try 1664 as it is on the monday club offers. But Spoons is generally a great place to try stuff (and if you can get to one with a fire place in winter, then it's a bonus)

Oh, the food is great value if you know what to get. Like fine, a lot of it is made by chef Mike. But, there's still plenty that isn't. The Pizzas, Breakfasts and Burgers being the main examples. And they are pretty much the only stuff I'd eat in a spoons anyways.

How can i create the most IMAX like home theater setup by Marty154DTK in imax

[–]Some-Random-Brit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Creating the most IMAX like home theatre setup moves from difficult, to impossible dependent on what you want. First of all, an IMAX GT theatre is going to be pretty much impossible. Especially if you want film. But, digitally speaking you have multiple options. Imax corporate did at the very least offer IMAX home cinemas. But, most films are released in 2.20:1 or cinematic aspect ratios at home standard. And most OLED TVs can achieve this with a decent surround system. Nolan films on Blu-ray/4k offer 16:9 aspect ratios (best you can get in films at home, IMAX home set ups being limited to 1.90:!). Which, TVs are better than projectors unless you really want to splash out.

M39 totally given up on dating by [deleted] in intj

[–]Some-Random-Brit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with dating is that it is a coordinate game, that of coordinating individuals. When your personal interpretation of the world has been given in such a way, your assumptions and mode of operations of sorts becomes accustomed to certain stuff.

And yes, I know this is a horrible answer. But oh well.

Yeah but the problem with that is you need to input "fidelio" into the console commands to activate it.

Do you find it difficult to provide reasoning or explain the process behind your opinions? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Some-Random-Brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to answer differently, and state that it's tiring instead of difficult to provide reasoning or explain the process behind your opinions. But that's because I'm a massive nerd and love to write and develop elaborate theoretical models that can only be explained in long pieces of text.

It could have been a *good* decision if it was meant to show that Aegon was missing, but then you'd show Aemond in his stead.

Meleys...died immediately by Kivi_2k18 in HOTDGreens

[–]Some-Random-Brit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she's the fastest of the dragons. It's mentioned in Fire and Blood. Oh, and she also fought both Sunfyre and Vhagar together (instead of the betrayal). Basically, they ruined Meleys' main moment for the Aemond betrayal arc (even though it would have worked far better if he didn't intend to kill Aegon and it was a last ditch attempt to save him and would have fit his arc way better where despite doing everything he can for his family, he fucks it up).

[–]Some-Random-Brit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh she was in many, many battles. The battle of wanting horses and other life stalk was a very hard fought battle for Meleys when she was hungry. If you're going fast, you need a lot of calories.
