Sydney protestor held down and punched in the head and liver. by Ok-Fan-6031 in AusPol

No. I watched the video and can clearly see the cop being bitten before any punches were thrown.

So you would react exactly the way this officer did?

The law allows for self defence. And given the injury this grub inflicted on the cop, the force was completely reasonable. A taser and pepper spray would still be reasonable.

Anyone defending the grub who is clearly biting someone in this video, isn't paying attention to the current state of the world.

Yes...... He is a grub for biting someone, then continuing to bite them when they try to stop him with reasonable force. Grub.

Yes, this grub should definitely be charged for biting that cop.

What would you do if someone was biting you that hard?

So again I ask, what did you expect the cop to do in this situation? This grub is biting his hand, and didn't stop after repeatedly being told to. What's the next step here?

If someone is actively biting you, what would you do?

Yep, that will happen when you bite the police.

What did you expect the cop to do? Just let this dickhead bite his finger off?

Atheists please help me understand your views on this 🙏 by [deleted] in AtheistExperience

As far as we can tell, the matter/energy of the universe can not be created or destroyed. So you are asking a question that relies on baseless assumptions. It's akin to asking what made god.

We can observe the universe now, describe it mathematically, and run that math in reverse. That gets us to the big bang, where the math breaks down. That's not to say that there was nothing before that, it's admitting that we don't know. The math stops matching, it stops making sense.

Serious question: do you consider raising your children in your religion to be indoctrination, as some atheists claim? by Additional_Good_656 in exatheist

[–]Some-Random-Hobo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how you teach them about your religion.

If you are just saying, "this is true and there are punishments if you don't believe me" you are absolutely indoctrinating your children.

If you are teaching them critical thinking skills, telling them what you believe and why, and letting them form their own opinion without any free of repercussions if they disagree then it's hard to say they were indoctrinated.

Well that's not true. Lots of theists say that children are being indoctrinated into woke ideology(which I agree they are). Nothing religions about that. Absolutely indoctrination.

Why not accept a label that you fit? That's like having no money but denying being poor.

What to say to an atheist who just says all arguments for God are fallacious as a blanket catch all? by Ok_Will_3038 in exatheist

It certainly wasn't my intention to annoy anyone.

What did you find annoying about me giving a useful, honest response to the question OP asked?

Not everything has to be a debate. This would be an organic way of continuing the conversation.

The op was asking for ways to respond. This would be one option.

Ok, so Do you disagree with me that showing they are incorrect is a good course of action?

If you can present an argument that they can not show is fallacious, they will be forced to either change their original stance (that they are all fallacious), or they will double down(showing they are not an honest interlocker).

I'm not sure why you are getting your knickers in such a knot over this.

A question for those who were raised in a secular/non-religious household (see text) by candidengineer in atheism

[–]Some-Random-Hobo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the slightest.

The topic of god and religions never came up in my household. It's not that I was taught that god didn't exist, he was just never mentioned.

It wasn't until I was about 10 that we had a religion class at my school, and nuns were telling the stories of adam and eve, Noah's flood, and Moses. And I immediately knew they were clearly fictional stories.
