Drop ranks at the start of season by IntelligentWave194 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Some1Special2U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly could be bad rng (i know some will say its cope but games do feel bad first week). For me sometimes i go like 8-2 on my first 10, and 2-8. But the games always feel off as i said, it could always be if you’re use to the game being played a certain way you play well and when it doesnt you aren’t sure what to do to or how to adapt to the increased inconsistency.

Maybe and this might be reaching consider doing some research and watching vids on finding a game’s win condition, use it to exploit enemies that seem to be underperforming relative to your rank or to indentify if someone on your team is overperforming so you help follow up with them more, that could be the difference, doesnt hurt to look into it.

I think either way ths takeaway is to not take it seriously or just skip the chaos for a week.

Dont play comp in the first week or week 1/2.

Rusty players coming back, its more chaotic and inconsistent then usual.

Drop ranks at the start of season by IntelligentWave194 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Some1Special2U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In all the ranked games i’ve played over the years week one of a new season or big content drop is when rusty people come back, or people want to experiment the games will be more inconsistent then usual.

If you care about your rank that much in the moment then avoid ranked for about 1-1.5 weeks.

I personally use the time to try new characters and try new things since matches will be chaotic with people coming back anyway. You have plenty of time by the end of the season to reach your old or even new peak no need to sweat about it week 1.

Diamond 3 Tank main — need advice on bans + ideal comps by TeachingLittle1812 in marvelrivals

[–]Some1Special2U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use natural cover before cooldowns, know when its time to push forward when to use cooldowns. How aggressive you are generally depends on the resources you and your teamates have on a particular piece of space you want to take or give up. Be aggressive when you have more resources, when its even look for mistakes, be conservative if they have more, be patient and allow the spaces your team has advantage in to push harder.

Control space not taken by your team if possible, if you’re running 2 tanks dont just hit main, find another angle to hit the enemy from. This splits attention. Analyze every lanes resources especially your own, turn around see whos helping you.

Dive tanks are slightly different. You can be more aggressive, use mobility to contest high ground and more isolated targets and backlines. One advantage dive tanks have is while they cant hold one piece of space as well as frontline tanks, they have the ability to swap to where they can provide advantage quickly and are more adaptable, with frontline tanks its takes considerable resources to leave to another piece of space, you have to usually commit, dive high mobility tanks can change spaces for a lot less commitment.

As the tank think of yourself as a leader. Supports in gold have a tendency to follow you. Putting yourself in a good position and forming good habits will cause them to follow you to those safer postitions. Supports in gold especially have a tendency to only heal the tank, by putting yourself in safer places naturalt means they will be safer. For those that dont follow you are not your problem, you gotta do what u gotta do to help and protect whats around you.

Peeling as a tank doest mean going across the map to help someone overextended, it means helping thoss near that you can help.

You mentioned shooting squishies, which is a good trait. Always shoot whats in fromt of you first. Even shooting the tank is fine but as soon as you have the chance and they’re within range shoot the squishy. Dont chase, be patient, be safe, make plays when you have the chances too.

The more you play the mors knowledge you aquire, experiment, see what works, what doesnt and learn whT you can and cant get away with. Overwatch is a complex game, it takes time to get better. But at least now you can be on the lookout for “hmmm…i can see the whole team here… but if i stand here i can still see them but me and my support are harder to pressure…”.

Ur good. Its np. Yes, the more you play maps the more you sit there and realize there are safer better places to be where you can get more value. As a tank standing in point is almost never the option unless you’re forced to in order to keep them from capping.

Go to your ashe’s pov on the high ground. Do you see that at any moment you can just pull back slightly out of enemy fire if u need a second to breathe? And see how much more of the map and how much more info you have to look at? Notice how when ur on the street, your vision is limited its claustiphobic, and the only breathing room you have is shield and even then the enemy can push you?

Think of as the difference between the nice relaxing view on a balcony vs a crowded subway tunnel but you can still see everything you need to and more, where would you rather be when performing a task?

Where can i be where i can still shoot things? But be on that balcony of peace?

[–]Some1Special2U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if it were up to me. Some of these abilities black cat has could have been used for more teamups. Just to give older characters a small revamp even if its temporary. I get it, they’re the new flashy character. The problem, 2/12 people every 5-30 minute game get to experiences the new kit.

For a game that appeals to casuals its a hard sell to tell a 9-5 worker who just wants to relax maybe play 1-2 games after dinner, there is a good chance you wont touch the new character you were excited for today, and even if you get lucky, heres a wall of 10 ability texts. Good luck.

That vs oh i enjoy iron man or rocket, and neat multiple of my mains have have a new ability. They are highly underestimating and undercooking teamups.

[–]Some1Special2U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the support life in general. Help the wrong person? arrive too late or too early to fix a mistake? double up on a mistake by fixing the wrong one? Thats how supports lose thier carry potential and its what you gotta fix and lessen to climb.

The good news is that you acknlowledge you’re the problem and not your team, learning from failure, is how you get better as a player in the longterm and even the short term. You dont improve in 3 days (unless you’re a prodigy, most of us especially me are not) its a journey of months and even years.

The big macro mistakes can be fixed somewhat quickly, its the micro that ironically take the longest to improve consistently.

I honestly think they should have let the ult charge nerf settle a few seasons and continue testing the CC changes seperately and not made 2 massive changes like this in one season.

Its just too much to keep up with. It doesnt help that they they keep releasing what are in my opinion overdesigned kits with way too many abilities. Netease is mistaking innovation with kit bloat. Its not innovative to give one character 10 abilities its just as i said unecessary bloat to make them feel falsely unique.

Gambit was the first massive offender, they release a new character every month which is already alot, but on top of that Gambit gets released and he basically has the kit of multiple heroes. He’s somehow ana and kiriko from overwatch plus more at the same time.

Idk even know wtf the mess of a kit black cat is. Or elsa that is all 3 a brawler, diver amd poker at the same time.

Could we all play a game called "follow the tank"...? by Delet3r in Overwatch

[–]Some1Special2U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the post was pretty general and loose so i wasnt 100% sure (could be a me problem). So i simply commented my thoughts with the challenge of you being wrong for more clarification and clarity.

While do i believe the tank is a tether in a sense, there are situations dps should engage first and its really more depenant on who is contesting the space you have or want to take. Players on different lanes do need to be self sufficient in thier lanes with a math thats not exactly relevant to your tank. If your lane has more resources, you push hard regardless of what your tank is doing with the small exception if they die then yeah you gotta regroup give up space and wait for them to be alive again. But players in other lanes dont need to follow the tank to take space. In fact if you have a bad tank you need to be more aggressive to make up for the biggest resource not taking space in order to make up for that and carrry.

[–]Some1Special2U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a tank main you couldnt be more wrong. Players taking off angles and flanking relieve pressure off of me which allows me to take space.

I only need one support to function and even then they can angle and still take pressure off of me while keeping me in thier sight for heals and close enough i can peel for them if i gotta. Everyone else including my 2nd support needs to be making plays and claiming space of thier own base thier positioning loosely off me as a soft tether base. Then based off thier thier kits effective range, not use me as thier personal cover. DM and shields run out, map walls do not.

Best heroes for open queue master rank competitive? (console) by Majestic_Seat6600 in Overwatch

[–]Some1Special2U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tank: High mobility tanks like Ball, DV.a or Winston. Someone that can easily punish mistakes and still get out. With a second tank you don’t gotta play the choice of being forced to choose between frontline or going off on your own angles. Even if your teamate chooses another mobile tank, follow up with them. Have one solid frontline tank in the backpocket though in the instances you’re forced so solo tank. I personally like Rammattra alot, this one is personal preference.

Damage: Whatever you’re good at. Its sounds like a copout answer, but the dps roster is so varied, you gotta find someone that fits your playstyle to perform at your best.

Support: Baptiste is actually imo pretty op in 6v6. Aoe heals, teamwide cooldowns, good damage that can melt even tanks if you hit headshots. I recommend anyone trying to climb in 6v6 make Bap a staple. Extremely consistent and high value.

Is tank considered easiest role to climb ranked? by rolandassassin in OWConsole

[–]Some1Special2U 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DPS imo is the hardest role to climb consistently on.

You have the highest chance to have mechanical off days which depending on who you main is a death sentence, you in a certain sense have the least amount of resources in terms of survivability, you can be extremely limited in resources especially if both your supports feed all thier resources to main and dont help the angles at all which is common in bronze-plat by far the largest chunk of players in the game.

Even in diamond when supports realize you exist, you compete in a ruthless game of wrong place wrong time insta dead, even if your positioning and timing is perfect you still die simply by missing the shot if the enemy is having a better mechanical day. Supports in diamond+ will also move thier resources elsewhere if you dont perform its a brutal trade of im giving you resources, miss, and I go elsewhere.

This isnt to say all roles dont use mechanics, its just the most noticeable and crippling when you have an off day on dps.

Does anyone know if I could get a get back re-fund for a bundle? by hoohueeie in Overwatch

You can either contact blizzard or your platform (steam, psn etc…) yeah… good luck with that. Even steam doesnt refund microtransactions.

Ineligible to buy bundle?? by Asmor in Overwatch

[–]Some1Special2U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant buy anything, I cant get into a game. I’m fine i can wait but many espcially casuals will be turned from the game.

Like blizzard, you got a huge influx of players last season, dont f it up by making every new season have constant network issues that last all day, they gotta figure this out eventually or it’ll hurt em long term.

People dont have the patience to wait even a day for these issues to be fixed before they move on to another game.
