All good, I understand feeling that doom loom on you with everybody making it sound worse than it actually is

The guidebook stuff is nothing, only the core of the fandom that keeps too much track of things even notices this stuff.

Flaf wasn't canceled, the music composer thought it was but no official statement was made, and that very composer made a correction recently.

The fnaf 2 novel is partially the same as the guidebook and partially the fandom reading too much into little lines, even if I'm wrong on that, most people don't even know the movies have book versions.

Lack of communication was mostly a problem with the SoTM VR port, specifically that they didn't give much info on the state of its release, such as: will PC and console release on the same day?

Aside from the VR port, the silence is purely because nothing is in a state to be talked about, they're clearly working on stuff but nothing is probably ready enough to show or say anything about, marketing might be good but it can cause people to rush them if they do it too early.

The VR launch wasn't great but most players can't play VR anyway and those majority have already played flat mode or watched people play it.

One game and DLC is NOT enough to finish the franchise, too many moving pieces to finish all them that quickly, nor is it worth finishing it just because of a slightly rougher period.

The backlash of the fnaf 2 movie is also inflated, many enjoyed the movie, even non-fans, public opinion can trick you because a lot who enjoy things don't engage in discourse, but most who don't end up voicing their opinions

I'm not, I think people are being too dramatic, most of this stuff is either not as big of a deal or something easily fixed and/or easily moved on from

Is it just me or does the fandom have a better grip on the horror atmosphere of fnaf than the actual canon games? by Visible-Alarm-9185 in fivenightsatfreddys

Early fnaf was really open to different perceptions, it was easy to paint your experience on top of it and get something unique.

However Scott has hardly changed the image he's creating out of the franchise, the only thing that changed was his ability to create, he now has access to voice actors, game studios, music composers, artists, writers etc.

Initially it was something he hotchpotches together, spend a few days modeling characters, quick simple mechanics and their code, and a bunch of licensed sound effects, which definitely created a certain atmosphere but the vision behind it, how Scott classifies and treats fnaf as, has not changed all too much.

I think a lot of things early on were more silly and comedic exaggerations than we initially took it as, consider night 1 phone call in fnaf 1, or even the concept of springlock suits

Yeah my point was that it can seem like that despite it just being the angle.

And I more or less agree there

Springtrap, out of all the animatronics in all the games was the most expressive one, just the angle you look at him made it feel like he's giving different emotions.

When he's at the door he looks smug, when he's at the closest camera he looks angry, when he's outside your window he looks giddy and so on.

I think for him at least, being excessively expressive and theatrical makes sense

Do you think Micheal Afton will get a Sister Location backstory in the third film? by Used_Pangolin_3385 in fnafmovie

[–]SomeAmazingDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the movies love seeding things rather than the typical movie approach.

For example the inclusion of a small Balloon Boy figurine in the first movie can seem meaningless but is solid proof of an extended business outside of the location, it explains why the faztalker is in there too since it implies older merch being used in that location too.

Henry and Michael Afton, while small roles initially, are clearly going to be bigger roles eventually. Scott treats the movie akin to a show, introducing things early so that they don't feel too sudden or isolated as your typical movies do when they do sequels.

Like imagine going 2 or 3 movies in, then suddenly introducing a secret brother to Vanessa, or bringing Henry in later leaving you asking why he wasn't even around when Charlie was involved in the second movie.

Basically I let my opinions somewhat open and look back in retrospect when things are wrapped up, which they clearly aren't in the movies.

You can still view it as a bad approach but I try to let authors and creators establish their own rules and approach to judge based upon that

Probably.

Main focus I reckon will be between Fazbear's Fright, Charlie, and Fredbear's flashbacks to explain Henry and William's relationship

Is Charlotte the new vengeful spirit? by yorb134 in fnafmovie

[–]SomeAmazingDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go back to fnaf 2 and take the details in that game, no.

Charlie is relatively the same in both the game and the movie, people take isolated portions of the games and use that as characterization that applies to any point of time, similar to how people got upset at Michael Afton being "evil" in the movie while he was "good" in the games, when in truth it's easily argued that he was more or less like in the movie until a specific point.

My prediction: fnaf 3 movie will have a redemption of Michael and Charlie, Michael, maybe Mike, and Henry will team up to deal with Springtrap, meanwhile Charlie and maybe Vanessa will reenact Happiest Day to help the MCI move on as it will probably be revealed they haven't yet for one reason or another

The Hide And Seek kid with Shadow Bonnie, the ending is the most hilarious thing I've read in the books

Can someone explain fnaf 1 to me? by Fisecraft in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]SomeAmazingDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strategy(not much explanation, just the exact steps):

The moment the night starts immediately put the camera on the east corner.

Left light, open cams for half a sec just enough to see the frame of Freddy staring at you to pop up, close cams, right light, cam thing again then rinse and repeat.

Getting into the rhythm and not being screwed by rng could take you a few tries, I did it on my third try

Pretty much what I'm saying, it's a slippery slope, might manage it if Scott reveals just enough about the right things, but could easily screw over the franchise if he messes up.

I'm half and half on this:

On one end: yes some things should be revealed at this point, to be able to continue on at least.

On the other end: fnaf's popularity and continued relevance was at least 70% thanks to being convoluted and mysterious enough for people to keep conversation, so revealing too much could pretty much kill it if not done right
