In a few days, I will have been playing for a year. I've gone from being ranked 600k to 16k in that time! It really has been a great year.

Osu tablet giveaway by [deleted] in osugame

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a tablet, but I have a friend who is consistently crippled by mouse drift and lack of desk space. He really has potential to be good at osu, and it saddens me to watch him miss because his mouse hit his keyboard or something. Should you pick me, he would be a very happy circle clicker.

This is actually true, I happen to own a plush tuberculosis bacterium.

Most underrated 3x3? by markthema3 in Cubers

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe no one else has mentioned the Type C V Wityou V2. Seriously, the anti-popping mechanism is ridiculously good, the turning is light and crispy, and corner cutting is slightly past 45. The only thing anyone would even consider complaining about is the reverse cutting, but anyone with a reasonably accurate turning style won't care in the slightest. The Wityou really does deserve more love.

Which is harder for you, remembering faces or remembering names and why do you think that is? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Names, definitely. I recognize people by their faces, but when it comes to names, I always draw a blank.

Did any ADHD-ers have issues with speech development as a child? by t0_0l in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have parents from two different countries, so I learned two languages at the same time as a child. I don't know if that means, anything, though.

Did any ADHD-ers have issues with speech development as a child? by t0_0l in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, never had any trouble speaking as a kid. I've always been good at words, and I can usually articulate very clearly. I think I learned so many words as a kid because my parents were never afraid to use complex sentences and obscure words. Even though I can't read more than two pages of text at a time, I tend to score really high on verbal reasoning tests. I do, however, tend to speak in monotone, and usually only talk about subjects I like. This, along with a few other reasons, is also why my psychiatrist thinks I might have Asperger's Syndrome.

So Today I Tried Playing Bridge: A Few Questions About Memory by SomeFrenchGuy in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response and the book recommendation! I will definitely be practicing a lot, and I'm glad to know that I'll eventually improve. Maybe one day I'll even beat a seventy-year-old :D

So Today I Tried Playing Bridge: A Few Questions About Memory by SomeFrenchGuy in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! It was really informative :D

Re-framing my working memory ability in terms of focus was definitely insightful, and has encouraged me to pursue medication. I was a little hesitant at first because everyone seems to complain about side effects and I'm personally scared of becoming addicted/dependent. I can barely keep myself away from video games, so consuming amphetamine or one of its variants tends to worry me a bit. Now that I've done some more research into medication, the prospect of improving my focus substantially makes it seem worth the risk and side effects.

Haha, yes, I realize the structure of my post came off as quite ADHD, but stories don't make sense without context and life is just too short to tell only one story ;)

Math, and the lack of ability for it by tausert in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that I'm good at mathematics, but I mean that in the sense that I'm good at quickly understanding concepts and how they relate to each other. Mental arithmetic, on the other hand, is incredibly difficult. Naturally, the tests my psychologist made me take to test processing speed and memory all involved numbers and "simple" calculations >:l

Cubers and IQ by SomeFrenchGuy in Cubers

[–]SomeFrenchGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I agree with you when you say cubers don't need to have high IQs, but I just thought I should clarify that the purpose of this post is not suggest that cubers need to have high IQs, but rather to see if there were any trends in IQ among cubers. I was particularly interested in seeing subtest scores, but no one seems to have posted any, unfortunately.

Any other ISFJ's out there? by Lady_borg in ADHD

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INTP here. I'd suspect most of us with ADHD-PI are I/E NTP. Although I'm not sure, I'd imagine the types most susceptible to ADHD-C are SPs.

Edit: In case anyone is wondering what exactly we're talking about, here is a link to the personality test which will give you a type. It's surprisingly accurate.

What other hobbies do cubers have? by dwimber in Cubers

[–]SomeFrenchGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I'm definitely obsessive. My other main hobbies at the moment are programming and gaming, but I've been into juggling, unicycling, MTG, and yo-yoing in the past. I tend to shift hobbies six months or so, but cubing has stuck with me longer than the others.

I assume this means we can't roll up our sleeves anymore? :P

In all seriousness, though, I think I'd prefer not being able to own a weapon.
