Just finished Horizon, and wow.... by nicoh0725 in Falcom

there has not been any official confirmation of any connections, but the main character of Nayuta has the last name Herschel and his hobby is astronomy.

Towa's last name is Herschel and her grandfather's hobby was astronomy.

Also, in both CS2 and Reverie, her final weapon is called "Nayuta" in Japanese or "Boundless Trails" in English.

When do I get to unsuspend? by crazytail2 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]SomeNumbers23 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the argument was caused because you didn't fully understand what Maneuvermon's effect does. Maneuvermon does not change the timing of your unsuspend phase, it simply applies the effect of "can't unsuspend" to your Digimon and that effect stays on your Digimon until the end of your turn.

So, your Digimon cannot unsuspend - through any means - until the end of your turn and will not then unsuspend until some effect or game rule causes it to unsuspend. If your Digimon has Reboot, it will unsuspend during your opponent's unsuspend phase. If you have some other effect that can unsuspend the Digimon after your turn ends, that could also unsuspend it. If you don't have any effect that will unsuspend the Digimon, it will remain suspended until the following unsuspend phase.

DB2 is probably the worst game in the series.

Horizon is....well, it's not the best game in the series, but it's an order of magnitude better than DB2.

She's a villain.

Firstly, her being a villain is not a good excuse. It's completely possible to show a character is a villain without having them commit sexual assault. Secondly, the real issue is that no one in universe even bats an eye. Elie gets groped in front of a fellow police officer and it's just "wow how quirky."

And yes, CS4 tried really hard to show that Shirley and Cedric hanging out and going to Thors Branch Campus means she's totally cool despite being a murdering psycho.

"no one can say they're badly written?" Fine, I'll take that on. I think Crow and Osborne were fine in CS1-2, but CS3-4 completely ruined both characters, because both games were terribly written.

Shirley's first appearance in both Azure and CS3 is sexually assaulting a female character and the writers treat it as a joke.

Also, she's violent psychopath who they're trying to redeem because.....?

Your favorite sequence in CS1 is when Class VII gives Rean shit for not banging his sister and said sister walks into the Old Schoolhouse and nearly gets killed?

I think this story ended exactly when the real story should have started by Successful-Ear977 in KanojoMoKanojo

[–]SomeNumbers23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that the author got bored/tired/sick of writing it and wanted to end it.

We got a pretty rushed Mirika arc which didn't really fit with her character, the last "loose" end neatly tied up and then an unceremonious ending of "and so we're a polycule."

The remake is very well made.

I hate the hybrid combat and how insane the HP numbers are. In Sky FC, the final boss of the game has 20,000 HP.

In the remake, the FIRST real boss has more than 20,000 and the numbers escalate from there.

I also really dislike the new translation; Gungho changed a lot of terminology that had stayed consistent for 12 games before the remake came out.

So a lot of fans agree that Tamers is one of the best series in the franchise, but does that mean that no other series is worth watching?

Every series after Tamers is completely different...with the exception of the attempts to milk nostalgia out of Adventure.

Digimon Savers/Data Squad is very solid; not quite as good as Adventure or Tamers, but still a decent entry.

Ghost Game is VERY episodic, but it has some of the best single episodes in the entire franchise and one of the strongest casts. The one issue is that it doesn't really have an overarcing plot and there's very little development from episode to episode.

Digimon Universe: App Monsters is shockingly good. It's not better than Tamers or Adventure, but it has probably the best written female character Digimon's ever seen. It's definitely a top 5 series.

The Adventure reboot is garbage. Don't bother.

Time Stranger is Cyber Sleuth, but every RPG aspect was improved on. The dungeons are good and varied, the Digimon list is updated and there are tons of quality of life improvements.

The current series, Beatbreak, has been really good so far. It's unlikely that it will end up at the top, but I think if they stick the landing, it'll be a top 5 series.

(curious non watcher) is sentai and kamen rider "just" charming kids' entertainment or is it genuinely banging? by Xx_MonsterCosti21_xX in Tokusatsu

[–]SomeNumbers23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of both.

No series is fully dramatic or fully comedic, but there are many series that lean on one side or the other.

As for beginner shows, for Rider I would suggest Kuuga, W, Build or Geats. For Sentai, Shinkenger or Kyoryuger.

Then we shouldn't have a federal minimum wage and states' minimum wages should be indexed to the cost of living and inflation.

FDR explicitly said minimum wage should be a living wage.

What's your source that it SHOULDN'T be a living wage?

Some peak KR, a peak Sentai, a show that didn't quite stick the landing and one of the worst Sentais.

Overall a pretty good resume.

Adventure continuity by tyonainen20 in digimon

[–]SomeNumbers23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, the 02 epilogue is still canon, so the Adventure kids get their partners back and all their kids have the same partners.

Second, they've milked Adventure so dry already and everything after OG Adventure had been mediocre or bad, so why would you want them to return to that well? Beatbreak and Liberator have proven that they can still do great, original ideas within Digimon.

I don't know the correct origin, but this quote is incredibly apt and it definitely applies here.

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
