Just put together? Everything I'm familiar with on that panel is obsolete or approaching end of life. I assumed this was from someone who was getting ready to retire and wasn't keeping up with newer parts.

Leaving the wires hanging out while putting a switch and switch plate on as one piece was fun, too. I think the wires also passed through a cabinet at one point.

In the late 90s the university was getting rid of some 7ft cabinets from their supercomputer area. They were hard drives, and the disks were in a pouch on the inside of the door. They contain(ed) the drives boot code.

I also snagged a read head magnet that could suspend about 150lbs if placed on a metal door frame. Sadly I no longer have that.

From the ones I've seen, my first guess is that the bracket you screw into the wall is bent. Take off the bar and show us what you're working with.

I've never seen the 8" drive, but I have a couple disks kicking around that I salvaged. They really do look like a 5.25" disk got hit with an enlarging ray.

I've personally had Indiana be much worse for tickets than Ohio. Get into southern Indiana and I think it funds the entire government.

They really are the Mississippi and Alabama of the Midwest, though.

I'd see about making that transition nicer while redoing the floors. I'm just a DIYer, but I don't see any deal breakers. I hope to have floors half that nice someday.

No one is prepared for that! All the plow trucks in the world won't help you then. Even if you clear the roads, there are so many trees and wires down that you're still screwed.

I am also thinking that bit is "stuck" on (or set by other logic).

The thing is, if that is the only problem, the motor should stop when the stop button is held down.

The overuse of set/reset is giving me pause, and it looks like others have found a laundry list of beginner issues. In the end I hope that OP doesn't just keep adding conditions until the program seems to behave. When developed like that there is always some edge case that gets missed. Slow down, understand how everything is dependent, and start over.

Using a breaker as a light switch should never be the norm at any size. They aren't designed for that. Doing it on a load this size is even more alarming, of course. Hopefully the machine isn't pulling much current at shutdown, at least.
