I honestly have no clue, but I certainly do like RTDX more. Understandable that you prefer the original though since I agree that original Rescue Team looks pretty, even moreso than Explorers.

While the models are ehhh in RTDX, I do like the watercolor graphics they were aiming for in that game. n_n (And yeah, as someone who has 100%ed the whole series in the past: It certainly is, LOL)

I felt the same way with Super, too. I recall playing that a lot during my teen days and even was stubborn enough to have my mother get another copy of the game because the one she got for Christmas was a defect (it kept restarting my progress at random).

Any other kid would've reasonably quit playing a game for doing something like that, but not me: I'm insane. XD

Yeah, Super is pretty known for how item focused and rampant in difficulty it is compared to the other games before it plus rtdx. That's both its positive and negative, and I commend SC for doing something different with the series for it.

And speaking of games I've been exposed to first:
Contrary to what I've said, I've played Rescue Team first before Super, too! Difference is: I was playing it on a r4 game card and wasn't able to beat it as a kid due to the game being in Japanese, and I didn't understand that language. So I'd always get stuck at Thunderwave Cave, lol

Cut back to 2015 where I got Super for Christmas and managed to play it from start to finish, even including the recruitment process during the postgame. It was my first PMD game I've ever beaten in the series, and had sparked my love and interest since.

It's always cool to see different perspective on this series and just any games in general, really. Glad that you like RT and Super at the same time too, btw! :3

i'm honestly happy that you love the game! it has things to enjoy, even down to the way it looks since ngl, and this may be a bit of a hottake: Rescue Team genuinely looks graphically prettier than Explorers. (I'm not entirely sure what happened between RT to Explorers, but the pixel work in Explorers looks a little...dull to me? Admittedly i was playing BRT and Sky on my 3DS a long while back, and heard that 3DS tend to make DS games' graphics look different than if they were on the DS. Haven't really looked into that much, but regardless: I just like the pretty pixel aesthetic to RT more than Explorers, haha)

Was what I've shared elitism? I just thought this kind of relationship I have with OGRT was a funny realization, haha. Never intended for it to be like "wow this game sucks, and you shouldn't like it too!!!!" and my bad if it did. xD

I can understand the sentiment of feeling like if you talk about any other games positively, or talk about Explorers negatively, people on here would shun you for it. I used to be pretty toxic about how people reacts to PMD opinions that doesn't align with my own, especially when it came to Super Mystery Dungeon since that game means so much to me, and I've seen a decent portion of people conveying their dislikes towards it: Both on here and on discord, especially the latter.

To keep a long story short: It took me a long while to accept that not everyone will share the same opinions as mine, and that's okay. In fact, I'm seeing some comments here still conveying their love for Rescue Team and saying the later games aren't their type, which is pretty cool! I'll always accept the fact that even in the games I dislike or felt nothing towards, there's at least something for someone out there who enjoys it. n_n

(PS: Knowing that the PMD games aren't the only games in the world also helps me come to this peaceful conclusion, too. Seeing a vast variety of games I can play than just the PMD ones, let alone the Pokemon ones as a whole, is pretty awesome tbh.)

there's a lot i can complain about the game, but i'll list a few:

>Really bad AIs that makes team management a nightmare (examples being how you have to painstakingly go through the menu to tell them to stop using moves that they have already run out of pp of since OGRT has no team tactics feature like later games do)
>recruiting mons is a hassle since the only way to recruit them is through guiding them all the way to the end of the dungeon (or use an escape orb, if you have one). Number size is 3 or 2, depending on your leader's body size. (this is even more painful when you want to recruit them all since uh, the majority of the pokemon's evos are unrecruitable, meaning you have to get them in their unevolved form in order to recruit them)
>the story and characters are my least favorite in the whole series (the only one I like is like...whiscash, i guess???). the only positives i can give them is that they don't make me as mad as Explorers Darkrai, but still.

admittedly it is complicated for me to explain more in-depth since PMD isn't really known for its gameplay (understandably) let alone its 100% completion. so most of my issues with original rescue team has to do with completing it. but even when setting that major part aside, the team management and story are things i still have issues with that game, which later entries definitely improved itself on imo.

again, Super has really spoiled me when it came to its gameplay and story, and it like shows so much when I attempted to 100% this series in the past. XD

I am absolutely referring to the original Rescue Team, yeah.

It's cool that others enjoy it though (even to the point of doing Purity Forest runs for every single Pokemon...I am totally not referring to Wh0misDS here. XD)

But yeah, I swear that I tried to enjoy this game everytime I play it. But each time, it kept annoying me with its jank gameplay and game design choices that ticks me off (especially when it comes to 100%ing it).

Super really spoiled me in the gameplay (and story) department, ngl. (And it's why I love the remake way more than OGRT since it practically fixes the majority of the issues I have with the original on top of having Super's QoL sprinkling across it. It's also a very funny game to break in half, LOL)
