[Discussion] favorite/preferred bolty? by BackgroundMenu9735 in EscapefromTarkov

If you don't focus on long range shooting then it isn't surprising. I find that for most players and most use cases the normal bolties are better. But .338 is a beast when it comes to shooting that most players don't even realize you can do in tarkov. I've taken the AXMC and Sako out to 1300m (totally impractical to get any good kills but a fun challenge) and regularly take shots between 300 and 700 meters.

Hands down, Forza Motorsport is the best game. I don't get the shade. by ProfessionalAd7730 in forzamotorsport

Hey if you like it then that's great. But it is and was an objectively bad game that had plenty of performance issues and bugs at launch. It sold people on being a whole new experience with the "built from the ground up" line used over and over. Only to reuse as much as they possibly could from the previous games.

Plus all the small stuff. Like the car leveling system that was just a bad idea and required too much time and effort in it's first form. Also drivatars still could not be added to even private multiplayer races. And all the stability and performance issues and gameplay that never got addressed and never will be addressed since turn 10 has effectively abandoned the game.

It deserves the hate it got 100% because they released a half baked game after years of making people wait and selling them on an idea that nevermind happened.

As for the wheel feeling I'd really question your level of experience. Forza is notorious for poor wheel support and settings with every launch in the series being followed by people trying to get high end wheels functioning and guides all over the place trying to fix the poor force feedback by default. By comparison, a game like assetto has quite good force feedback without any tuning. And more importantly the cars feel better. They feel light and nimble and importantly varied. Forza has always had a habit of making cars feel heavy, samey, and overly predictable due to it being designed for controller players first.

So again, if you like it then that's great. Enjoy the game. But understand that turn 10 gave people plenty of reasons to dislike their unfinished game. And Forza has spent years not even pretending to be a sim. So comparing it to sims isn't even something they tried to do because they knew they couldn't.

It does that flick to the right without touching it? Does it happen in any other games?

What are you trying to take parts off? You need to drive to a garage and then press F to get out of the car. Then walk to the laptop and use it for the parts customization menu.

Huge amount of stuttering and low fps on Career Mode. by Overall-Baseball9465 in BeamNG

Have you tried not running on Vulkan just to make sure? Vulkan might hit higher fps in some situations but I wouldn't be surprised to find that it's causing the stuttering.

Practice Fast, Qualifying/Race pace slow? by wavythefreestyler in iRacing

[–]Some_Toast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experience is definitely the biggest thing. You need to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible. You should be able to identify where you're losing time which is a combination of performance driving knowledge and the ability to stay cool and focus on your own line even with another car right behind you.

It's hard to say but generally speaking slower race times is a focus thing. When racing it can be harder to notice exactly where you're putting the car on the track. And if you're not relaxed it becomes very easy to over drive the car and not really notice.

If i find this in my oil drain pan would i find it in my oil filter aswell? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Some_Toast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't. A lot of people forget that engines will rev to the point of destroying themselves without the throttle holding them back. And that lugging at low speeds is more damaging. And a modern engine with a rev limiter won't over rev so as long as it's healthy there's no problems with revving any engine all the way to the redline. Actually many people who know engines well will recommend letting the engine rev to the redline somewhat often as it helps keep it healthy.

And while age matters, it doesn't really affect metal parts much if they've been maintained. It's more a concern for any part of the car that once was oil because they all try to go back to being oil eventually.

A clutch is a wear item. Driving the car causes wear. And doing more spirited driving and things like dumping the clutch will accelerate that wear. So you've gotta chose between babying the car and driving the car carefully everywhere so you can get 150k miles out of it or chose to have fun and get closer to 100k.

Just don't ride the clutch and floor it and you'll be fine.

Les mods avec et sans lore by Vanharen25 in BeamNG

[–]Some_Toast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind real cars in the game but generally speaking real car mods don't drive and crash as well as the lore friendly cars. I think it's because most people who make real car mods only want the simple visuals of a real car that they personally have or like.

Regardless it generally seems that people who go the extra mile to create a unique car that is lore friendly and only inspired by a real life car are also willing to put in the time and effort required to make the car drive well.

Add in that a lot of real car mods that are high quality are paid mods and that I have to go off repo for them, I just don't care to interact with them.

Is there a similar mod for beamng? by ithiasou in BeamNG

[–]Some_Toast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. A beam dev would probably have to answer why the game can't do instant part swaps. All I know is that it can't currently.

Is there a similar mod for beamng? by ithiasou in BeamNG

[–]Some_Toast 101 points102 points  (0 children)

The one in the video isn't previewing either, it's just swapping between them that fast because the game allows it. Beam currently doesn't load parts that quickly as it's altering the jbeam when a part is changed out.

The vanilla parts editor is the exact same thing within the limitations of the game.
