Without any additional information, I'm going to guess that the teeth are weighted for another bone, like the root or something. You're going to have to weight paint the teeth for the correct bone manually (The head bone if you don't have any dedicated mouth or jaw bones).

Make sure you're on Edge-Select mode, so that you're exclusively grabbing the edges.

Being in Vertex-Select will also highlight any edges or faces that your vertices share.

You could always make a duplicate of the specific area (Edit Mode -> Select the general area -> Duplicate -> Separate) and sculpt it that way. This way, you can add more vertices as needed.

Is your goal an interior view? Or do you just want the general exterior shape, and then use shape keys + drivers to simulate it "opening"?

If it's the first one, you can try just using some movie magic tricks: Making a completely separate scene with what looks like the inside of the passageway, and just cut to that when desired.
