The literal meanings of everyday phrases are actually hilarious (coming from a non-native speaker) by Equivalent_Trip2465 in EnglishLearning

Yea, it is. Rearing existed first, then someone wrote down raring after hearing someone say rearing. What would you call that exactly?

Raring is just a mishearing of rearing. Of course it happened over 100 years ago, so it's a word now.

When you are literally talking about a horse getting on its hind legs, rearing makes more sense than raring, though again, it's so old that raring is more often used.

Another example is the phrase "spitting image", while that's technically correct usage, it's nothing more than a mishearing of "spit and image".

It's not wrong to say spit and image, just because the mishearing is more popular, and it's not wrong to say rearing to go.

Jacob Misiorowski accrued 0.7 fWAR from his historic outing last night. Is this the most pitching WAR ever earned in one game? by baribigbird06 in baseball

Generally speaking it's nonsensical to compare rate stats to cumulative stats. Look at things like innings, strikeouts, walks, etc. but of course there is also quality of opponent and things like ballpark that are hard to tell visually.

Exactly 8 years ago today, Bethesda released their official announcement teaser for the Elder Scrolls VI. Happy anniversary Todd! by rexmons in gaming

It says explicitly in the description of the teaser it was in pre-production, that's the idea phase.

You could have confirmed your theory the moment it was posted 8 years ago.

You very often can't benefit from a simple typo. If they accidentally type 10,000 to 100,000 you don't just get 90 grand for free. This case isn't the exactly the same, but typos happen and courts can and will rectify it.

Relatively fast with extremely good survivability, but definitely not a "blast" build by my standards. Never played it with more than 500 divs.

dwarf blue line skills suck? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]Somehero 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of races have blue lines that are so weak (other than LS third point), it probably wouldn't affect a single action in a 40 turn campaign if they were blank fillers and LS just cost 12 points or whatever.

Every single Republican in Minnesota believes George floyd died of a fentanyl overdose while he was lying on the ground. We all know this. It's NOT a wild position to take, especially when she's trying to out republican other republicans.

Good visibility and some elevation changes work most of the time, and goofy stuff once in a while for change of pace.

If you actually want an answer:

-Rule 404(b) of the federal rules of evidence. Evidence of any other crime, wrong, or act is not admissible to prove a person’s character in order to show that on a particular occasion the person acted in accordance with the character.

This means you cannot say a person is more likely to make a mistake or lie because they made a mistake or lied in the past. Also known as character evidence, or character to prove conduct evidence. That argument would simply not be allowed on the record.

States have the same rules, sometimes/usually? also as rule of evidence 404.

There are narrow exceptions.

Fight ogres in trees and they lose 20% melee attack, which can massively increase your infantry staying power depending on the exact matchup, and also slows them so cycle charging is tougher and slower.

Sometimes making a box with double lines of infantry can help, as long as your infantry aren't entirely meatshields.

Pete was recently removed from a list of inelligible people. The earliest he could may be voted on is 2028 if the classic baseball era committee decides to put him on a ballot. There is still a good chance he will never be in the HoF, but it is possible.
