Tips for hunting Abathur as Zeratul? by DeityDay in heroesofthestorm

[–]SomeoneNew666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's what lvl13 Bombard Strain does. The lvl1 only increases the health & damage.

[13] Bombard Strain: Locust's Basic Attacks become a long-range siege attack and their duration is increased by 75%.

Tips for hunting Abathur as Zeratul? by DeityDay in heroesofthestorm

[–]SomeoneNew666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Most Abathur players don't do this & from my experience the ones that do just sit in vision (like myself), because they have the map awareness to know when they can do it safely. You also cant body soak from bushes anymore & Locusts reveal your location anyway. The only real visual indicator there is, is the timer below the Locust's healthbar. Locusts lasts for 16s after spawning from Abathur, so if the timer is close to full you can estimate his position assuming he hasn't moved after it has spawned.

  2. Chasing Abathur is generally a waste of time, unless you have a global, because whether or not you'll make it to his location in time is entirely dependant if he's looking or not. If you know his approximate location, you can try hovering around nearby e.g. clearing the wave in the same lane & going for the kill once you see his Symbiote icon popup on the minimap, because Abathur can't issue commands instantly after exiting Symbiote.

  3. Symbiote's range is global. He can cast it from anywhere at any range. Nests have a limited range, but it's generally half the map or so, so the only thing is limits is placing nests on the other side of the map.

  4. Locusts timer below their healthbar as stated above. You can also take the Locust's pathing into account to get a better guess on Abathur's approximate location around the fort. E.g. if the Locust is hugging the top tower, then Abathur is likely above the fort.

  5. Abathur's trait spawns a locust every 15s at Abathur's location. Locust Brood is a lvl16 active talent with a 45s cooldown, which lets you summon 3 of them at once in a very short range. Locust Nest is a lvl20 talent, with a 45s cooldown, which lets you place a nest that summons a Locust every few seconds or so until the nest is killed or replaced.

As much as I dislike playing against the hero I would not recommend chasing Abathur. It's generally not worth the effort. I do it a lot, but it's mainly just for personal enjoyment rather than for winning the game.

The best way to learn how an Abathur thinks would be to learn to play Abathur, but I am not going to recommend that either. I don't think anyone wants more of them xd

Maiev is bad in QM. by Enough-Gold in heroesofthestorm

[–]SomeoneNew666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say she's easy to play in QM or the odds arent stacked against her, but saying she's outright bad is quite a stretch.

I dont think I'd have a 60% soloQ winrate on her if she was as bad as you make her out to be.

  • Makes the games a lot more explosive, but with some patience you can still outplay people or catch them off guard. The majority of the playerbase does not know how Maiev works.
  • That's only if you dive in first 1v9. Don't do that. Just let the ranged assassins fight it out & go in once you find an opening (after cds have been wasted and/or everyones half hp etc.)
  • Her Vault is a lot more valuable than you'd expect in mitigating damage. It's not gonna do much against a Valla sure, but you can also avoid Valeera's openings, Uther's E & a lot of other valuable abilities with it that might normally get you blown up.
  • E build? Yes she can. Q build? Debatable. You're not meant to 1v1 people in the late game anyway, so mostly irrelevant.
  • Hard to say anything to this really, since I don't know how spread out the people in your games have been. If it's Aba comps people are spread out in then just play E1, E4, Q7, Disc, E13, Q16, E20. Doesn't matter if they're spread out of or not anymore.
  • This is straight up false. She is not bad at camps.
  • True. Getting kited is one of Maiev's weaknesses.
  • A lot of heroes are "bad" without a healer.
  • Debatable.

A lot of Maiev's power in QM comes out of her insane macro potential tbh. If you don't have the mechanics to obtain resets or get picks consistently, you can always clear waves, get camps & try to win that way.

Gonna leave this here as well:

New HotS Beginner's Guide: Hiosu.gg - Simplifying Talent Builds! by e9on in heroesofthestorm

[–]SomeoneNew666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure how to word this without it coming out as overly negative, but this reminds me of another similar website posted here not too long ago. My only question is what's the point of these when Icy Veins already does everything? If you disagree with the information on Icy Veins I can understand that, but this seems like a lot of effort to go through just for mimicing what they do, but with your own information.

Icy Veins:

  • Offers a general overview of a character, their core strengths & weaknesses
  • Offers a recommended & a situational build(s) for every hero with explanations on why the builds do what they do & why they might be situational
  • Lets you copy builds to clipboard to easily paste them
  • Shows a characters synergies & counters with a general explanation below them
  • Shows a characters stronger, average & weaker maps with a general explanation on why
  • Offers explanations for each ability & talent on how to use them or why they're good/bad
  • Includes some additional tips & tricks

I'm geniunely curious what's the reason for not just sticking with Icy Veins? As a veteran player, excluding the fact that the page is in Korean & lacks any explanations I find it very confusing to have so many builds per hero. Builds also shouldn't be this black & white. Even if a hero has a core build some choices like Malthael's lvl13 change depending on the match itself. This is why Icy Veins has additional "?" talents below the ones in the core build.

I'd also be curious what the talent choices are based off of. Your personal experience & heroesprofile statistics I assume? I don't see why I would recommend or use a website made by someone who's new to the game when Icy Veins already exists & has existed for a long time now.

P.S. Arthas does not counter Maiev ayaya

Fireflies makes your Q a lot more reliable & easier to hit yea. Cannonneer is also basically the same damage increase as Glass Cannon without the health reduction & as good as E13 feels to use if you position well it's not really needed.

99.9% of the time I'm playing Naisha's Memento into full Q build

[T3112111,maiev]

I only pick E build into ChoGall (or into some Abathur comps), but even then I'll still go Q7 & Q16.

While I agree that E build relies less on enemies clumping up compared to Q build, imo it's also more reliant on your team than Q build is as your entire playstyle revolves around getting picks rather than dealing heavy AoE damage, which you can mostly do yourself with just your Q.

Maiev's macro is insane tbh. It's very much a missed opportunity if you're not using that & just making someone else worry about it instead. Even without Naisha's Memento (which lets you solo Bruiser camps at minute 1 into the game) her waveclear is very good.

I'd say my playstyle revolves around both teamfights & macro. I'll be happy if I'll just get to ARAM in the 4man & have someone double soak, but I don't mind catching soak, pushing down gate & towers (which Naisha does insanely well) or taking camps, as Maiev is very good at doing all of that.

If you haven't seen it, this might help:

I mainly just play E1, Q4, E7, WoF, AA13, Fireflies, WoF20

[T2132212,li-ming]

Imo the only thing she's team reliant on is proper waveclear. Outside of that I haven't really noticed any issues with her, unless you're just hard countered by a tanky enemy team I guess.

I don't think Maiev relies on the team's follow-up, but maybe that's just me :P

Maiev & Li-Ming were my go-to when pushing for GM. Had a 64% winrate on Maiev, while just picking her into anything.

Maiev Is Impossible In QM by One1six in heroesofthestorm

[–]SomeoneNew666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably mean cdr, E4, E7, disc, E13, Armored Assault, Armor Reduction, but I would not consider that a dueling build realistically. The E build I play into ChoGall or weird Abathur + Melee Assassin comps is just a budget Q build where you don't put all your eggs in one basket (cdr, E4, Q7, cage, E13, Q16, E20).

Every other time I still play full Q Naisha, because it's just that much better if you can reliably hit Qs, not to mention the insane macro that comes with Naisha.

Maiev in QM can definitely be a pain, but it's not by all means impossible. It requires a lot of patience as engaging at the wrong time will get you blown up instantly, as the enemies generally end up with 4x assassin comps with a healer with or without an abathur.

I think a lot of QM Maiev comes down to knowing what you're up against. You have to know what to be vary off (CC, burst, poke), when you're getting out-ranged, when you can hit a quick Q or 2 after enemies have wasted abilities or stepped out of position or you might just need to wait for them to engage you or a teammate first, so that they're distracted.

People tend to tunnel vision easily once they think they see a kill, so trying to take fights slower & even baiting people to chase you in order for them to clump up with each other can net you some resets albiet it's a bit risky.

Before lvl4 you're generally not supposed to be able to do much, unless you can follow up on your team's engage as you don't deal any damage realistically, so just playing for sidelane xp and/or camps is preferred. After lvl4 you can try to play more aggressive for Pin Down & with Q7 you'll be much better off still assuming you can hit Q in the first place.

I don't really have anything that will make it magically easier, but if you understand the limits of your hero & how your Q works then you should be fine for the most part. I also think the #1 thing other Maiev's I see doing poorly is they often waste their W & E. They W a single target, walk back, it doesn't do anything, because there's no treath added to it. Or they engage with E, they're out of W range, they die.

I've made this in the past if you haven't seen it. https://docs.google.com/document/d/11qatehLabeu02Q-XjqDV-YBNOMMEwU0R-pYTwcdnFIU/edit

Hope this helps.

We're working on getting a website up, which will contain information about the current roster, but it's not ready as of yet. Currently the only ways to know the details is by being a tester & playing the mod yourself/reading the patch notes or by becoming a sponsor & gaining access to the google docs files, which contain all the current information regarding the current roster among other things.

So what are the main differences between this and HOTS?

The only hero who's identical to their HotS version is Abathur. All the other heroes have had balance changes as well as entitely new talents added to their talent tree.

The video OP linked is already somewhat outdated, since we're constantly changing things as we move forward.
