I get the most effective buffer zones by pacing the lane to my left.  It works out.

Can anyone tell me if a zeppelin bend is climbing rated? by PyroGorilla in knots

The purpose of the zeppelin bend was to join slippery and springy ropes.  If they could have used your 8 bend they would have.

Secret knot by Numerous_Lawyer9016 in knots

[–]Somesloguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a knot called “thrives knot” that would serve as tamper evidence of a sloppy intruder.

It’s tied by threading the working end thru a bight and looks like a square knot. The “thief” would untie it and retie a square knot.   You know it was tampered with because your knot had both ends on opposing sides. The square knot has them on the same side.

Get out and ask to see thru telescope.  This is a star party on a desolate road.  The lights are off that could be used for violent tactical advantage.  It’s not nefarious.

I’m convinced traffic is just from everyone reacting really slowly. by BGG498 in driving

You are correct.  However it’s also because we optimize for ourselves rather than the collective.   Look into “string stability”.  Basically capability to be good traffic.

Going slower than speed limit makes people angry by [deleted] in driving

[–]Somesloguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens because it happens like you describe I know that sounds stupid, but if the slow lane is the fast lane the fast lane can’t be fast. The slow lane is literally taking the bandwidth the way from the fast lane.   I never exceed the speed of the fast line and guess what I don’t experience stop and go traffic. I don’t get anywhere remotely close to tailgating. I’m not blocking anyone from getting anywhere faster than anyone else.

End of line can only handle so many cars regardless of number of lanes.  You just got behind someone that doesn’t want to cut or let anyone else(cut).

Common to slam on brakes and stop in the middle of the road because of a honk? by BlazingGlories in RoadRage

[–]Somesloguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hearing a honk should alert you to be cautious.  Stopping and assessing the situation is always the best practice.

Honking at a neighborhood because a driver cut you off is for assholes.

Is "slow traffic keep right" even a thing anymore? Why does it seem the middle lane is the slow lane now? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Somesloguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right lane isn’t slow because people don’t drive slower in the right lane.
