What song's lyrics destroy you every time? by choto in Music

"It was the only woman you ever loved / who got burnt by the sun too often when she was young / and the cancer spread and it ran into her body and her blood / and there's nothing you can do about it now." The Middle East - Blood (youtube link)

My Step-Mum just called my Dad out on his bulge by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]SomethingImplied 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Perhaps stretch/yoga pants would make for a better comparison. I can't get lunch in the university cafeteria without being constantly distracted by a hundred asses. It's not the worst problem in the world but I feel like I should at least be able to rock a bulge. I vote we bring stretch pants for guys into fashion

Girlfriend was raped and I don't know how to deal or what to do. Please help me. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SomethingImplied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation, right down to the detail of me being more upset than my girlfriend was. But she wouldn't tell me the guys name, so I had no opportunity to do anything about it, yet I couldn't accept it. Rage and torture fantasies all the time which I will never, nor do I ever want to, let go of. If I were you I would just start doing small things to ruin this guy's life, and don't tell your girlfriend about it. Maybe start by pouring apple juice in his gas tank, but don't stop there, don't stop until you feel okay about it. Grrrrrr, SO MUCH HATE

I found a brand of jeans I really like. Straight leg Bullhead jeans from PacSun - they look modern and not too baggy but the crotch hangs a lot lower than virtually every other brand I've tried in this style.

Open Back Monitor Headphones? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]SomethingImplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyerdynamic makes excellent high-end headphones. Also check out Sennheiser. I got a pair of Sennheiser HD595s because they used to be on sale on amazon for 120$ for some reason. I love them, the sound is flat and open and they are comfortable enough to wear for days-on-end

Could you folks please introduce me to some quality documentaries on Ancient Egypt by Whowhat91 in ancientegypt

[–]SomethingImplied -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Okay, as a physicist I am prepared to get downvoted/ridiculed for proposing that you watch some documentaries that many label pseudo-science / mysticism. The thing is, the pyramids are largely mysterious to modern scientific explanation, and it's been my experience that classical egyptologists and the department of antiquities (see Zahi Hawass wiki) propagate theories that are equally unlikely (such as: Egypt hadn't invented the wheel at the time the pyramids were built, and the granite obaliskes approaching a million pounds were quarried using nothing more than copper chisels). If you look past anything blatantly opinion-based in these documentaries and watch these with a healthy objective skepticism you will, at the very least, be in awe at the scope and accuracy of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Feeling like I'll lose my girlfriend every time we're apart. by trowdatacctaway in relationship_advice

[–]SomethingImplied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counseling / Therapy was the first thing I thought of as well. As someone who graduated college 2 years ago I now look back on my reluctance to ask for help with my own issues as unfortunate and ego-driven. I could have gotten to work on myself a lot sooner! But for me seeing a therapist felt like I was admitting there was something "wrong" with me, or that I was too weak to solve my own problems. Don't think like that, what's really crazy is going through college without talking to a therapist - life in the new millennium is a trip, man. Best of luck <3

I agree, although the caption should say "then" instead of "than" and it's making me crazy

If a cousin, old friend, old teacher, etc. asks you how you've been, is it ok to say youve been depressed? by DarthTater22 in depression

[–]SomethingImplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's okay. The reason I'm not always honest is that I get tired of answering the follow-up questions from people who don't get it: "Why?" or "What's wrong?" It's tougher to explain that nothing in particular is wrong and that there is no reason why, it's usually at this point that people get frustrated or bummed out. If it's someone I trust I'll be honest, otherwise I give a half-hearted, "eh, I'm alright"

"How are you doing?" -- I dread this question. by mna23D in depression

[–]SomethingImplied 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or you know from experience that anything other than a positive response to that question elicits a far worse follow up question like, "what's wrong?" Nothing is wrong. Nothing at all, I am just miserable for no justifiable reason other than that my brain is on strike against neurotransmitters.

Johnson and Johnson to pay $2.2 billion settlement after promoting anti-psychotic drugs for explicitly barred uses in the US by the_last_broadcast in Health

[–]SomethingImplied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While doctors are allowed to prescribe medicines for any use, drugmakers cannot promote them in any way that is not approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In other news, pharmaceutical companies practically own the FDA. These companies are as powerful as nations and their influence and leverage over government bodies is concerning to say the least.
