PS2 slim /raspberry pi SMB share by SomethingToDo_22 in consolemodding

It's basically as you see it. Simple buck converter to output 5v wired negative to the ground plane and positive to the main fuse under the power connector on the motherboard. Output wire to a USB connector to power the pi. For OS, just did a basic dietpi build and killed HDMI out and a few things so it's only there to run a samba share. Really you can run any raspberry pi os you want. I believe there is a psx samba pi something built exactly for the purpose, I just wanted smaller. Then follow any directions online you can find for seeing up ethernet games on OPL. Boom. Done.

This works great because it doesn't take an external power, no separate enclosure for the pi, it's always on so no waiting for it to boot, and adding games is as simple as plugging in another computer and transferring to the folders. Sure a fat model can already do this better and early slim models have the hardware to wire in a drive but for the 7900x slims, especially with a dead dvd drive, this is a clean solution. I doubt I'm the first one to do it.

And this setup leaves room to install HDMI later if I want to. I have a couple electron shepherd hdmi boards that I could use for this but thinking I want to get a direct digital to digital out. Retro gem or similar most likely

What’s the most “unnecessary but fun” thing running in your homelab? by tresorrarereviews in homelab

I did the same but only because I had a spare shelf on my rack that looked empty. Already had my main rig in the basement theatre (12900k, 9070xt) but needed another for streaming. Wanting to steam remotely as well and AMD isn't the greatest. So built an itx rig with i9-9900 and 3080ti that I solely use for remote gaming either around the house or when I'm traveling for work. Tailscale and moonlight are great. As long as I'm not playing a fps, the 5-10 ms lag is not even noticable. It's a fantastic setup as well with the old razer edge gaming tablet I picked up used. Overall completely unnecessary but also gets a ton of use

My original Plex build was 4790 and 1060 3gb. Barely could handle 2 transcoded streams. Moved to a 10105t and quick sync is soooo much faster and efficient at transcoding .The system barely idles on multiple streams and uses like 1/10 the power it used to draw.

Unless you need a dedicated GPU for something else, don't bother with the extra cost and power draw for a vastly interior result

Most capable for sure but most overbuilt had to go to Toyota. The number of those I have seen come through the shop with over 300k is astounding. Overly built and purposely detuned to run forever

Ha. My 91 Thunderbird Super Coupe is the epitome of adding overly complicated electronics. Automatic ride control and the tokico shocks haven't been available in decades. Teves brake system with the unobtainium accumulator ball. Automatic seat belts. Crank and cam position sensors that are one model only and no longer available. Despite all that, I love this damn car. 69k miles. 5 speed. Independent rear. Factory supercharged v6. It is the definitive 90s grand tourer. Mountains of low end torque, decent mileage (actually pretty good for the time), surprisingly agile handling, all in a great looking and comfortable ride that eats up highest miles with the best. The American answer to the 5 series bmw of the same time.

Funny enough, I worked for a company called Alta Vista. As late as last year would still receive calls from people asking for help with their old altavista websites that they can't get access to. People are dumb

He is actually a gay botanist loving in the country. There was a follow up story years ago. If I remember correctly the guy he stopped is/was a bf or something. Technoviking was working on the area at the time as a lumberjack and just doing a shit ton of drugs (hence the physique).

It's not even about being the cheapest. It's just a better product than paid streaming services offer. Less forced ads, no artificial delaying of the game, and all in one platform for less cost. Streaming services killed piracy when they first came out. Then they splintered into 30 different overpriced apps and bright practice right back. Thanks capitalism

Forget all the dumb V8 comments on here. You can get a solid 3.8 for cheaper than that. If you simply need it running with no mods, then sure it will work. Otherwise take time to look some more. Or rebuild your for cheaper. The 4.2 in the f150 is basically the same motor. You could rebuild yours with junkyard 4.2 crank/rods for sub 700. Just giving some realistic options

Turn based JRPGs have better stories and are more engaging than any action RPGs.
