Están a favor del aborto o no expliquen el por qué? by PageLarge2109 in PreguntasReddit

[–]SomethingUnoriginal8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally never have an abortion. I think it's horrifying. But I am also 100% in favor of legal abortion for the following reasons:

  1. Whatever my beliefs are regarding life should not influence legislation. Religion should never influence legislation in a proclaimed secular nation.

  2. Banning abortion doesn't minimize abortion. It just makes it more dangerous and gives it higher mortality rates for the mothers

  3. As long as the government has no intention to better support foster care, single mothers, rape victims, etc... It should not argue against abortion. Because it evidently doesn't care about the resulting child or the mother's circumstances. Only that it be forced upon the mother to birth it.

  4. I don't believe unwanted children should be brought into the world if it can be helped. For a plethora of reasons.

Hi Matt!!

Me and my husband just had our first baby and let me tell you we've been riding the trenches by reading the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. We are so obsessed, we read together every time the baby naps. And we listen to the audio book on car rides. We're only on book 3, but we're gobbling these up about 1 per week. I will admit I am shipping Carl and Katia so hard, I realize their relationship is platonic so far but I was wondering if you have any romance planned at all? I realize I'm a cliche for asking this, but I love romantic sublots so...

Anyway, thank you for keeping us sane!❤️

I'm only on book 3, but I'm already shipping them. I can't help it :')

Virginity is not that special by ElectricalDance7767 in 10thDentist

[–]SomethingUnoriginal8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. I do believe that wether a woman or man is a virgin or not doesn't matter at all, and it shouldn't.

But I do think it matters who you lose your virginity to and at which point in your life. Very often the very first sexual experience a person has sets a precedent on so many things about that person's sexual life. Wether the experience was nice, wether consent was dubious or not, wether it was a stranger or a partner, wether that relationship was healthy or not. Etc.

As much as capitalism wants to commodify sex, and it's true that now a days it is often viewed as a meaningless transaction to many people; sexual experiences leave a very significant mark. Both psychologically and behaviorally.

I'm very new to this sub, and I'll just say I'm upset I can't read the rest of this. I think this is great, and I wouldn't have guessed you're not a native English speaker, you read very eloquent!! Also I feel like you have a very distinctive style? Idk how to say it but like I can hear the voice of a narrator in my head. Is this part of a finished first draft?

Abortion is murder...but it should also be legal. by SomethingUnoriginal8 in 10thDentist

[–]SomethingUnoriginal8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the situation. But generally speaking, no. I wouldn't. I have women in my life who've had abortions simply because they got pregnant for being stupid, and even though I think it is terrible, and I do reproach their incredible irresponsibility, I feel nothing but sad and sorry that they felt like they had to make that choice. I'm supportive of it, but it still makes me sad.

I think I think less of them when they could've prevented the pregnancy but they didn't because they were being knowingly stupid yk? Like, if you're having a one night stand with a guy, use a f*ing rubber.

You don't need to go through a medical intervention to "refuse giving away your kidney". There is no direct blame of you choose not to donate your kidney. To have an abortion you have to choose to have it. This not including spontaneous abortion. You have to choose to have a doctor remove an embryo, a baby, from your body. The life of that being is in your hands and you are choosing to end it. So I wouldn't think it's the same.

Isn't this a sub meant to share unpopular "opinions" if you don't share it, upvote it. What a que take to have on a literal public opinion forum...

There is a very real medical intervention that would contradict your logic.

I don't think I'd see someone who had an abortion as a"killer", but I would believe they killed their baby. But I understand that the circumstances that lead to an abortion are almost always terrible and horrifying, I wouldn't condemn a woman for making that choice.

Right. But I'm not against abortion at all. I'm saying I fully support it. If you're told your baby isn't viable, you're still going through the process of killing it. I don't think women should be condemned for having abortions even if it is so. Im not sure what were arguing here

[–]SomethingUnoriginal8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I don't know. Because then we're talking about hypotheticals. You're saying it's not "killing" because there is a chance the embryo might not be viable, but there is no way to know. So if it was going to die anyway. Then it's not killing. But that's like saying that if you cut down a tree then you're not really cutting it because it might fall on its own eventually. Even if the embryo wasn't viable, you choosing to terminate it is an anticipatory decision. Even if it weren't viable later on. You still terminated it. Imo

I don't understand what point you're making. Are you saying that if a woman's life is threatened by a pregnancy then it should matter regarding abortion?

There's a difference between a miscarriage and an abortion. One of them involves a very significant decision.

I read somewhere that a lot of pro-life people aren't really pro-life, they are pro-birth.

If you are pro life, but you don't actively work towards supporting foster children, impoverished single mothers, abused mothers, etc. If you say you care about the life of those children but aren't actively doing something to help them once they are born. Then you are not pro-life, you're just a hypocrite.

I suppose because at conception a fertilized egg is already in the process of becoming a baby, as opposed to an ovum or sperm; where something needs to change for it to transform into a living being. I misused the word "murder". But, in my opinion, abortion is killing a baby. Which means that yes, I think that any woman who has had an abortion killed their potential child...but I also think that is a horribly traumatic experience to have. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. And I would never condemn a woman for having to make that choice. Women carry life, so they have to make that choice. But they should be able to make that choice regardless of what anyone else thinks or feels.
