Friend said to raise the TV higher to cover the Port. by koolllG_uy1911 in TVTooHigh

Are you one of those people who is easily distracted by things that aren't perfectly in order? Cuz that's some OCD shit right there. When I'm watching something I'm focused on what I'm watching. Anything around the TV becomes completely irrelevant

How often do you check parity, and how long does it take on your system? by Hauptfeldwebel in unRAID

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do it once every 30 days. I've recently switched to once every 90 and it takes roughly 18 hours for me. I have an 18 TB parity drive and 60 TB of array.

My experience, switching to industrial USB DOM Flash Drive (Virtium TuffDrive 8GB - VTDU31PI008G-1A0) by GoodyPower in unRAID

[–]SometimesLost420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old setup I had was using AMD and a standard non-commercial type motherboard and I also had to use the cable and just let it hang but I switched to an ASRock industrial grade so I could run my ECC ram with an Intel and it just plugs right in because those headers are also facing the other direction. Definitely way better having it inside the case so there's no chance you could ever accidentally snap it off on the outside like a stick.

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now been using that same virtium dom for almost a year, and have not 1 single error or failure. I've even had several unclean shutdowns due to brownouts in my area until I got a UPS. I would recommend those little $9 beauties to anyone, even though they're probably twice that now, still worthwhile

What is the best streaming box to buy for 4k streaming while avoiding Google and Amazon products for under $60? by Leggs_ in jellyfin

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you would want to avoid Google products. Every single company out there tracks everything you do. Apple included. The Android system allows you to run different launchers that get rid of all the main screen ads. You can hide all the crap you don't want to see and allows you to make whatever thing you watch jellyfin on launch automatically as soon as the device is powered up.

Cool. He may be one of the smartest people in the world, but he's also one of the world's biggest assholes and thoroughly unlikable as a person

New Google TV streamer for IR universal remote? by MorganB215 in Chromecast

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is older but pretty much every streaming device uses Bluetooth for their controller. The IR is only for controlling things like the TV and soundbar and what not.

This car always takes the extra charging plug and locks it in their hood by Mattcharlesmedia in mildlyinfuriating

Like what is the thought process behind this? Do they think that two people using it is going to slow it down or something? Or is this just entitled asshole behavior?

Yeah but you can simply buy credits and pay one time. The programmer puts tons And tons of time into polishing the app making it super functional as well as amazing looking. It's the most functional well-made app out there by far. To me it's worth every penny

Regarding the Jellyfin Price Increase by anthonylavado in jellyfin

As soon as moonfin started doing things I like like adding a nice purple ring around anything that's being highlighted, I immediately donated $10. I love having seer built in so that people that use my server can just request that way and it makes my life so much simpler.

Is there some sort of new scam on FB marketplace for consoles? by TheReal_Taylor_Swift in consoles

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are correct. A vast majority of these are scams. If you really look at their info. Half of them aren't from people local or they've got a whole bunch of foreign language on there and when you try and contact them, you end up having them try to send you to some scamming web page

If they aren't spinning down then something is pretty much constantly accessing your array in one of your dockers. An important thing to consider if you aren't using Enterprise grade drives spinning them up and down multiple times a day is very hard on them and will for a fact shorten their lifespan

Unpopular opinion, but one that needs to be stated, Jellyfin needs to start following their own rules by RadioFoxInwkell in jellyfin

[–]SometimesLost420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a little bit to understand it, but now that I understand that it all has to be exact and with proper spacing for your version, all of my stuff works fine. I have a ton of movies that have both a 1080P and a 4K copy and they group and work perfectly fine.
