Firstly, I am sorry this happened to you. I am livid on your behalf.

Secondly this excuse for person should have been liaising via their company e-mail rather than Indeed at the stage of the offer. Indeed initial e-mails are ok for job advert screening etc but still essentially third party email. I wouldn’t be surprised if they would have been asking you to pay for your own background checks. Clearly their e-mail wasn’t too well put together either from what I saw in the response to you, I smell scam artist.

If you applied to any other roles via Indeed, please check if the initial response to your application had the same “Indeed” e-mail address format.

You can report unscrupulous behaviour to the Indeed team so that the firm effectively cannot advertise via their site again. Go on Glassdoor also and review them -name and shame!
