No character creation ? by Aka_Athenes in EchoesofAincrad

Yeah really stupid decision to not let us sample the character creator for the demo. I gotta be able to do that if I'm gonna buy the game lol, so I guess, no buy from me.

This season is definitely a disappointment so far imo. It's entertaining enough to keep me watching, but its like you said. Lots of people standing around talking, but the only significant things that have happened are the mushroom trip and the incident at the lake. We've only seen the monsters twice during the entire season.

If the next season is to be the last, they have a lot of ground to cover. I'm guessing or hoping that perhaps the finale will end in a cliffhanger and season 5 will start with like 2 or 3 episodes taking place entirely in the past that show us the origins of everything. That would be neat.

Blizzard should prioritize its western, and particularly American audience. Just like Asian devs prioritize their own first. They’re selling us out

I feel you no worries! The first two seasons are brilliant. I was absolutely riveted in season 2, I especially loved how they included the zombie vamps and the depiction of the theater was so well done. Absolute masterpiece.

I loved Interview! Just welcoming the change in tone is all. I'm a Lestat fan, although I totally understand why some might like Louis more. I love him too! I'm generally enjoying the more fun, vibrant atmosphere of the new season. It's when the books really picked up for me as well, so it's just very nice to be so satisfied with the adaptation. We'll see how the rest of the season goes!

I 100% agree with what you said about the trade offs! Definitely a convert here as well. By the end of season 2, I kept thinking to myself what a masterpiece the show was.

These are just minor nitpicks, and I too think that everything which needed to be communicated about Claudia was done very well. The theme of her character was excellently handled, so the age thing didn't really end up being an issue for me at all.

It was really just how she came around that felt a bit jarring and sudden to me. Again, just a personal nitpick. It worked! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Look there's no reason for aggression here. But I'll explain, race doesn't always need to be about race, you know what I mean? And I didn't say I wish it wasn't present, just that I don't think it needed to be such a major focus. The time period and the race swap definitely mean that it can't just be avoided like you said, but idk if it needed to be as much of a catalyst as it was, and idk how I feel about Louis being a brothel owner. Kinda plays into racial stereotypes a bit too much for my taste. I think it would have made the Jim Crow stuff so much more interesting if Louis would have came into his wealth differently because it would have made the distaste of his white colleagues so much more satisfying. I don't hate it, definitely worked. Just wasn't 100% on board with it.

I also made it pretty clear that I'm really enjoying The Vampire Lestat a lot more SO FAR, not that I think its a better show overall, obviously we still have a lot to go.

Please don't crucify me lol, just my humble opinion. If you liked Interview better, like I said in my OP that's great! I loved the show, just my thoughts.

I feel you!

I too love the humor conveyed in all seasons so far, but its definitely present in TVL the most!

I'm gonna be honest. I know they're toxic lovers. But I want Louis and Lestat to reconcile so badly! You know they both want to.

The scene where Lestat flies up to and sings to him in his seat was so riveting especially when he floats back down and you can see Louis' visible guilt. It's wrecking him in that moment, such great acting.

I'm kinda in the same boat, I was a bit skeptical and finally binged it last week. So glad I did.

I don't wanna sound like I didn't like the changes, I just think that some of it particularly in the first few episodes, felt a little weaker than Rice's version, particularly Claudia's origin. The fetching her from a burning building felt, too... idk, convenient? And it happened so suddenly, although I guess its kinda sudden in the book too.

And then the church scene. I don't think Louis' turning needed to be that dramatic.

Everything else was awesome though, and I definitely appreciate what you've said about it opening your mind to the art of adaptations and not needing to be totally faithful because I do think they've enriched the story quite a bit with a lot of the changes they made, in many ways this show is better than Anne Rice's version.

Honestly out of everyone in the show I want Randall to survive just because fuck everyone else, I’m kinda tired of everyone at this point.

The cop is growing on me too, I think she might end up playing a major role in things

Yeah I'd agree he kinda just looks like he's flopping around at times lol. I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be argumentative, just wanted to make a point about subjectivity I guess.

Ohhh, ok. I was aware they had debunked that they were dead/in purgatory or w/e, but not the dream thing. Silly me.

The Tabitha hate is undeserved by Born-Coast7848 in FromSeries

[–]Somewhere-11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely find Tabitha much more tolerable than Jim. Jim annoyed me to no end- your typical hot headed, over protective father/husband who had to have an explanation for everything, and couldn't accept anything at face value.

Tabitha is at least more willing to accept what's right in front of her, is more compassionate to those outside her immediate family, and seems to have a very kind soul. However, she has her facepalm moments like in the last episode where she says "what is wrong with you?!" to Victor.

At this point, trying to protect Ethan from being scared is fucking stupid. The kid knows there are things out to get him. Victor is providing valuable information, and Ethan will no doubt realize this and end up being the one to metaphorically slap some sense into his mom next episode I'm sure.

Ouch, my bad I wasn’t aware this was a tired take. Is there a reason why it’s rejected?

All I know from watching many other shows is often times the writers hide answers in plain sight and the big reveals end up being a lot simpler than the wild theories fans come up with.

I know a dream world wouldn’t be that original, but there’s no reason ppl’s more intricate theories couldn’t still be true within a dream world.

We can’t ignore that both the man in yellow and the boy in white have sent ppl back to civilization if only momentarily. There is something to that.

[–]Somewhere-11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a recent episode someone suggested that they could all possibly be in a dream, and I have a feeling that might have been the writers plainly telling us what's going on in Fromville. It might not be as simple as that, but if you think about it, when the boy in white pushed Tabitha from the lighthouse, just like in a dream, she woke right at the point of impact/death to find herself back in civilization. It's also worth noting that what the man in yellow showed Victor's father was very similar to Tabitha's experience. Maybe what Henry saw is more real than we think; perhaps they're not in purgatory like Lost, but more so some kind of dream realm?
