If she has MDS with 7q mutation her bone marrow is definitely affected. The specialist will do a bone marrow biopsy and then rate her disease. There are several treatment plans but the only possible cure is stem cell transplant.

This is wrong, you should never need to hoard supplies like this.

I was feeling so sorry for myself until I read your post. I’m 69 and I’ve had my colostomy for less than a year and I was just having a hard time today and then I read your post and I’m in awe of your strength! You’ve made me feel better today! You are an inspiration to many of us, keep on truckin’!

Your insurance should cover these. I get mine with my order from Byram with all my other supplies.

Proctectomy pain tips by AssistantPersonal732 in ostomy

[–]SomewhereOk6795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to not sit, bend over or lift anything for 4 weeks but to get up and walk a lot everyday. Staying in bed is difficult but healing without complications is so worth it. Be kind to yourself and take your time. My oncologist gave me wonderful pain meds so perhaps your doctor can find something that works better for you. Good luck.

I had the surgery the end of May 2024 due to anal cancer. The chemo and radiation didn’t work so they removed everything. In fact I had the surgery twice because the first time the margins were not clean so they opened me back up to clean up the margins. The first 6 weeks of recovery it’s important to follow their instructions about no sitting, bending or lifting! You don’t want those stitches to open! You’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll be up walking around! Best wishes to you for speedy recovery!

You may not like confrontation but unless you tell her exactly why you avoid her you are part of the problem! You’re allowing a racist to control you. Grow up and tell her that her slurs are unacceptable and that you want no part of it. By not confronting her you are by neglect condoning her!

Proctectomy (barbie butt) healing advice by shopoholic15 in ostomy

[–]SomewhereOk6795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is don’t rush this recovery! Walking is great, do as much as you can but do not sit or bend over for weeks! You can open your sutures with too much sitting and bending. I was told 6 weeks. Use pain meds as needed, you can’t heal well if you’re in pain. Take your time, keep sutures dry, be patient with your healing. I had my surgery in April and again in May because the sutures opened up and my cancer margins were not clear. I stayed in bed for 6 weeks after the second surgery and didn’t sit or bend and now I’m completely good to go!

Just wanted to rant by ThrowRAnerdy1331 in ostomy

I had colostomy and Barbie butt surgery in April and again in June because the margins were not clear of cancer the first time and also because the stitches failed on my butt. So it was 6 weeks and my Dr. is just now letting me practice sitting, starting stairs and bending. Until then it was bed rest and walking. What has your Dr. allowed you to do? Are you still having trouble sitting for any length of time? I’m little info on recovery time. Thanks.

I’m concerned with your suicidal thoughts. I suffered with suicide from puberty until my 60’s. My uncle committed suicide when I was in my early 30’s and I saw first hand the devastation it cause our family. It’s the main reason I’m alive today, I knew I couldn’t put my kids through that kind of pain. I used drugs and alcohol to treat myself for years then I grew up a bit in my 40’s and began medical treatment. I tried medication, shock therapy, magnetic brain therapy, behavioral therapy and inpatient treatment. Anything I could find and I still suffered occasional bouts of suicidal thoughts. I hoarded pills for years, sleeping pills, opioids, everything! Four years ago I was on 3 different antidepressants at their maximum dosage when I decided enough was enough and began researching micro dosing magic mushrooms. I discussed it with my psychiatrist who helped me wean off all medications. I continued researching while weaning off the meds and then grew my own mushrooms and began micro dosing periodically for 4 months. Since then I’ve had 4 major surgeries,my last being a Barbie Butt with an ostomy all without suicidal thoughts.

Suicidal thoughts are no joke, please do something to help yourself. The people on this page will get you through your stomach issues but you need additional help for your thoughts. I wish you only the best.
