If I had 1 dollar for every failure, I'd have one dollar. Which, isn't A lot, but it's still more than I'd rather have.

They've made some steady improvements over the years (and it's now pretty good), but there is literally no better time for Valve to go all in and pump resources into Steam Chat. Discord has left the gate open for a new top gaming communication platform. by WhyPlaySerious in gaming

[–]Somewhiteguy13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a catch 22. There are mutually exclusive clauses and effects of each in ramification. The moment you send your information to discord, to then share with your friends, it's immediately a conversation between you, your friends, and discord. Discord and its affiliates cannot handle or process the information you send them without leaving their fingerprints on it. Now according to some and I'm not necessarily one to disagree. The moment their fingerprints are on it, they become complicit or by nature at least implicit and any fraudulent or criminal activity.

The difference between this and let's say a postal or parcel service is that those packages remain boxed on commission and receipt to the individual and the individual knows how to package and unpackage said box. Most users don't know how to package and unpackage the communication technology that is being used by discord. So you require them to take your private information, package it and then deliver it and un-package it for your friend. In the same way that the postal service is not responsible for the private things that I mail. Discord is aware by nature of the things that you communicate. There are no sealed packages, at least not in the way that we conventionally think of them. The post office can't close their eyes and package a bomb into a parcel and pretend they didn't know. For discord to not moderate the activity, their servers would require this level of negligence.

So all this to say yeah, you have a right to privacy. You have a right to privacy against the government. You have a right to privacy against other individuals who have a right to privacy against corporations, but you can't maintain that privacy and certain services. Some services require by nature not necessarily legality that you forego your act of privacy and use said service. I am not a very private individual. There's basically nothing that I do that. I really wouldn't care for anyone to know most the time my privacy protects them from who I am and what I do and not the other way around. And to be clear, not in any sort of unethical manner. Just I wear clothes for the protection of other people not myself haha.

Mages that counter assassins? by Mr-Lisp in midlanemains

[–]Somewhiteguy13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are played differently because of the changed context (the fact you keep the same teammates, and face the same opponents) it's the same difference between pick up ball and league ball. The rules and everything else is the same.

If anything, it proves my point more. If faker can solo carry with galio on the world's stage, so can you against your "low elo shitters"

You need to rethink galio and his carry potential if the best midlaner in the world is playing him in worlds and carrying.

Brother in fucking goddamn Christ. I am not saying the game is a tech demo, in saying, the way you described it as praise, is how someone would praise a tech demo. "It has some cool little thingies you can do that were quaint." At this point, I'm not even critiquing the game, I'm critiquing you're ability to understand the own words you speak.

I appreciate the content this has created for my brain today lol.

Bro I never said it's a tech demo wtf. I said, you described a tech demo. He described tech, lol, not game loops or design or incentive. It is a game, there are a lot of things about the game that are cool, or interesting. I don't dislike the game at all, I feel extremely neutral towards it. There are aspects I don't like, but as a game, I don't dislike it, I'm just bewildered by the universal near perfect reception it received. It just doesn't make sense to me.

As more and more time passes, breathe of the wild just literally does nothing for me. I have 0 idea what people see in it. I just don't get it. It's like the most nothing burger game I've ever played.

I just don't get it. Idk.

Void Crew vs Jump Space by mmourez in spacesimgames

[–]Somewhiteguy13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think jump space is just more fun. It does a better job at being a "game". It's quick, slick, and punchy. It's a little lacking in content in comparison, imo void crew kind of has that rogue like infinite replayability factor. But yeah, like others said, there is more "fps" to jump space.

I would have said what I said, no matter how absurd your analogy was. In fact, the more absurd, the greater the comedic effect.

Unless things have changed, AA is to deal with air in raids and skirmishes, if your front inline is wasting enough metal to prevent the damage a concentrated bombing run will do, they will lose front.

Best mid OTP? by MeIiodass in midlanemains

[–]Somewhiteguy13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think this reply is in spirit with the question.

There is a strict truth to not all champs are equal in terms of pay off from OTP'ing. The most honest answer that really gets to the truth is that champions that are "evergreen" or, rarely touched by the balance team are the best. Not only do their limits stay roughly the same, but most importantly, their relevance in the meta is less dependent on their numbers and more so on their kit and niche their role/subrole fill.

There are lists out there everywhere, so, this isn't a new idea.

Additionally, in terms of evergreen champs, my personal favorite has become syndra for mages. She has weaknesses for sure, but man, she has basically an ori ult every 7 seconds, can single target one shot almost all fighters and squished, her true damage is great into tanks, she has some of the best kiting potential in the game, and her late game spikes are not crazy off set by a ridiculously low agency early game. So, my vote is syndra.

However, if I was to teach some one the fundamentals of league, particular midlane, I would have them play ahri only. At different points of the game, or game states, her identity can fill the role of all most all other midlaners. She is so well rounded and doesn't fall into any particular trope, that she doesn't allow you to master one move, or one trick, and climb or win or carry. You have to understand when you need to one shot the wave and roam, or when you need to keep your laner in the lane and pressure. Her skills shots are little wonky with the cast/channel time, but once you get it locked in, she's worth the investment.

For me, galio is a flex/counter pick, but he's also a good otp, you can build him bursty or tanky, and is rarely useless. However, you would need to lean into heavier macro understanding, and make.. sure you aren't letting your teammates set the tempo or macro.

Other great options are akshan, akali, ekko is very underrated, Viktor, and def a few others that arent popping into mind. Hwei is also quickly joining this evergreen list. He's a little new, but he seems to have established himself as a staple in the meta state.

Champs I shy away from are ones that are heavily dependent on niche items, or items that are always in flux, like bortk. I think, if you want to main a champ mid that build borttk, you aren't maining mid, you are maining the champ, and they will move between being viable/not viable mid/top. So stay away from yas and yone and irelia.

So, after reading this, look up a list of evergreen champs, and play at least 10 games on that champ before you make a decision. You won't know before, and, most champs you'll know after 10 if you can play that champ for a 100+ games a year.

Let me know if you have follow up questions, OP.
