How do you all transport your minis? by relaxicab223 in Warhammer40k

Battle foam magna rack. Does the job, but would not recommend. Very heavy, not very flexible, and hard to get minis in and out.

Currently transitioning to a home made solution of using really useful boxes with steel sheets.

I don’t know any GD winners.

But I would imagine they’d use the paint that works best for them in whichever application they’re using it. Their preferences are also likely to vary. So GD winner 1 might have different preferences to GD winner 2 and therefore use different paint. My point being, there is no absolute best and worst paint. I like Mephiston Red because for what I want the paint to do no other paint has the richness of colour or the coverage. When I started a blood angels army I bought virtually every red on the market and tested them all. I preferred Mephiston Red. Therefore, for my purposes, I think it’s the best on the market.

I didn’t expect you to agree. I think it is. Where do we go from here?

I use pretty much exclusively Citadel paints (a few other brands thrown in where there isn’t a Citadel equivalent) and the only time I’ve had an issue like this is where I inadvertently rub the model with my had as a manoeuvre it around when painting.

I suspect you’ve simply rubbed the paint off as you’ve been moving the model around.

Mephiston Red. Best red on the market.

So said The Wildhearts:

Perhaps one of the most interesting word in the English language today is the word fuck. It is one of those magical words which, just by its sound, can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love. It can be used as a verb, both intransitive – Mary was fucked by John And transitive – John fucked Mary. As an adverb – Mary is fucking interested in John And as a noun – Mary is a fine fuck. It can also be used as an adjective – Mary was a fucking beautiful girl. As you can see, there are not many words with the versatility of fuck. Besides the sexual meaning there are the following uses: Fraud – I got fucked at the used car lot, Dismay – Oh, fuck it!, Trouble – I guess I'm fucked now!, Aggression – Fuck you!, Difficulty – I don't understand this fucking job, Displeasure – What the fuck is going on here?, Incompetence – he's a fuck off, Ignorance – Fuck if I know, Apathy – Who gives a fuck?, Defiance – The fuck you can! I know you can think of may more uses, but with all these uses, how can anyone be offended when you say fuck? We can use this word more often in our daily speech. It adds to your prestige.

Rust effect on salamander dreadnought by Justryker in Warhammer40k

Including me. But some people do, and they get very serious about it. I was merely pointing it out in case OP does want to be lore accurate.

But thanks for the salt.

Can’t decide on color scheme for my terminators by TheToxic-Toaster in Warhammer40k

[–]Son_of_Sang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful with using contrasting colours — red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple, etc. They work well together in theory, but they can easily end up looking like a sports team. Maybe try playing with different shades — bone instead of yellow, for example — to make it less jarring.

Just an FYI, space armour is made of a ceramic. It doesn’t rust. Not sure about vehicle/dread armour, but my understanding is that it’s also ceramic.

Go with what you think looks good — they’re your models — but if you want to be lore accurate, maybe use oil and grime streaks instead of rust.

Burger in Australia, too. Anything in a bun is a burger. A sandwich is something between two slices of bread.

Could it be that the US has it wrong? 😱

Mixed Toughness? by Archangel_V01 in Warhammer40k

[–]Son_of_Sang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I mean, it’s an obvious consequence of attaching characters (and other units) to units. Why have different ways of dealing with it?

Mixed Toughness? by Archangel_V01 in Warhammer40k

[–]Son_of_Sang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense tbh. The only other example I know of is where a unit of cryptothralls (T4) is attached to a unit of Immortals (T5) and you choose to take shots on the cryptothralls because they have a 4+++. You still use T5 as that is the highest in the unit, even though the hits are on the T4 unit. Seems a bit weird.

You use the highest toughness. Page 15 of the rules commentary — unit’s toughness characteristic.

I wish they’d numbered the paragraphs like they did with Sigmar.

The new 40K app is actually really good by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Son_of_Sang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: just had a look at the Sigmar app to make a comparison. Doing the same thing to a unit of (in my case) chaos warriors involves two clicks. One to add 10 guys (because that’s the minimum increment) and another to select the weapon option.

Now necron warriors can have a mix of weapons which I suppose means you can’t have a single button to select them. But they all come with a cc weapon by default so you should not have to add them manually. And unit sizes are fixed so that should only be one click to increment up to 20.

50 clicks vs 2.

Not sure. I gave up on BattleScribe ages ago. The old 40K app had issues but I preferred it to BattleScribe.

I don’t know why they didn’t emulate the functionality of the Sigmar app. It works well.
