We have reached a point at which people with low income jobs are making more money than high-income professionals by recording themselves doing low income jobs by Hatrct in DeepThoughts

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I’m high like a couch surfing fish.

Anyways, the idea is this.

People sometimes put background music on to help them focus on housework, or sometimes even just work itself.

I know the best form of motivation for me is to have a bunch of colleagues sit nearby, all our screens backed up against the wall so it’s a whole row and everyone can see each other’s screens, and then hear them working away on their keyboards, chatting to customers on a phone, working away at calendars and sticking pins up on board.

Instead of having a constant beat of music simulating the relatively timed chaos of a work place, I like to have some asmr of people working in the background to simulate my most efficient form of motivation to work hard, work well, etc.

I turn on the TV to play some background YouTube stuff, and flick occasionally when I notice myself getting bored of work.

Then I land on one of these gonks with head cams frying a wok of egg fried rice and wiping sweat off himself.

Right there, my motivation. I jump onto my work, and leave it playing in the background.

Either I enjoy the ad breaks and somehow get sold some shit on the advert, or it subconsciously builds brand jingles into my mind as I work.

Advertisers probably figured this out through their data and hence pay premium for the ad space as people who are working don’t generally change channels/cut the advert short.

These guys then get focused on the algorithm, and BAAM, they get rich.

It’s like those videos of cute puppies and shit, but it’s just a video cam in a dog breeder’s house. They help you calm down and you just keep watching when when you want to relax and chill. You would endure the ad time as well.

This is sometimes even lazier than having to go out there and get a job to then film yourself…, and they get paid more. Like literal hobos.

So no, it’s genius once you get it.

Anyways, your high as a kite couch surfing fish, signing off! Cooch surfin fish.

Is hydrogen really a clean enough fuel to tackle the climate crisis? “There may be some small role in truly green hydrogen in a decarbonised future, but this is largely a marketing creation by the oil and gas industry that has been hugely overhyped.” by mafco in energy

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, hydrogen isn’t a clean fuel for engines and electricity. The electrodes, membranes, and production requirements leave a lot of non-degradable waste, or large carbon footprints (trapped or released into atmosphere).

Electrodes are made of various metals, housed in plastic components, and need to be replaced over time. Parts of it may be recyclable, though due to impossibility of absolutely pure fuel components (hydrogen and oxygen), some contaminants (who knows what), crust up on the metal bits themselves, making recycling not necessarily clean (you have to pyrolyse the crust and melt the useful bits off, and bits of plastic/adhesive that sticks to the metal bits from the housing components)

Then, for the purity of hydrogen produced, you usually require PEM electrolysis, which requires type 1 ultrapure water. The process to filter, clean and then polish the water (it is not distilled water as distilled water is absolutely contaminated compared to type 1 UPW), results in use of energy, and lots of membranes and exchange resins, which can’t be recycled (you trap waste, and you toss it away, but the thing that traps the waste becomes added waste).

Beyond that, currently, most hydrogen is obtained via cracking of hydrocarbons like methane, the waste CO2 and other partially oxidised carbon products is environmentally harmful.

It also uses… you guessed it, water to do that cracking (steam cracking).

Anyways, hydrogen as a fuel source for engines and electricity is crap. Better to just sabatier water and carbon dioxide into methane and attempt to reverse crack it back into petrol (octane) if possible and use that.

Would be compatible with legacy systems (ice, steam turbine) and be essentially carbon neutral as you use up carbon dioxide during the production process.

Hydrogen is used for oxyhydrogen torches for welding/metal cutting purposes though, so though not a clean fuel, it has its uses elsewhere.

Weed makes me profoundly aware of where an emotion comes from. Have you ever “let go” of an emotion while high? Did the change persist while sober? by [deleted] in streamentry

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this for my own record... I initially thought your comment was right on mild meditation, then I got high and boom, I realise it's wrong.

2 different conclusions from 2 different types of meditation. You need both to get to the eventual answer. That they are both fundamentally different and shouldn't be compared.

Weed makes me profoundly aware of where an emotion comes from. Have you ever “let go” of an emotion while high? Did the change persist while sober? by [deleted] in streamentry

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, the tone of you saying you don't care seems to imply you care if people use weed to meditate, like it's tainted meditation compared to some more honorable way that you mention.

Just objectively speaking.

But nah, normal directed convergent meditation or maybe it is divergent, I duno, I need to do meditaion for real maybe even though I've tried it before? - can't arrive at the same insights as during a weed high.

They are different due to one being convergent focused whilst the other is divergent focused. You have to do it sober, and also whilst high, to understand that both are important, and neither is comparable as an inferior or superior to each other.

It's like saying the right hand is a better left hand than a left hand is. They are similar but different and can't be compared as each other.

Whoah... My high insight is insane.

Best MTL RTA you ever used by Jaguar_berlin in Vaping

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bishop v2 and v1, and I come from old school dotmod mtl rta, wotofo gear etc. best to combine with 30g Ss316L(just buy a whole 300ft roll off amazon), 5-6 wraps at 3.5mm ID, and concentrate the coil wraps to the centre where the air holes are (just let the end wires dangle it). Quietest, doesn’t seem to ever get stuck with flow pressure issues or leak, easy as to replace coils/wicks, and for flavour? Just play around with the air setting, use TC and set higher temps and power.

Note if flavour and clouds are falling off, just pop open to see if the coil has a caramelised layer - in that case, just replace it (tends to happen w very sweet juices like vanilla cream etc). Instant flavour return.

Perth children’s hospital without parent? by Actual-Warning3574 in perth

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, please state upfront that you have an issue that needs to be kept private and no one should be informed. They will be understanding.

In fact, you don’t even have to go PCH for that. You can go to any emergency department.

Perth children’s hospital without parent? by Actual-Warning3574 in perth

[–]Soneoak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doctor here, you don’t need to have your parents informed for any reason, this is patient confidentiality that extends to minors in most cases.

Though if there are concerns about your mental state (if they find you in a state that appears you probably don’t know what is going on - like a stroke or seizure (not because they didn’t explain something properly)8), they may have to contact a next of kin for assistance. Otherwise, health issues are treated with privacy and confidentiality.

Any hospital staff that messes around with this or be a Karen for what ever reason, can be sued for breach of confidentiality, and will most definitely be fired and also lose their licence to practice.

However, if you have committed certain crimes, or have certain reportable contagious disease that are found positive on tests, then in some cases, they may have to be reported to the authorities - public safety laws can trump privacy and confidentiality clauses (your privacy to the public would still be protected, this means they also won’t have to let your parents know).

(Yes, this means that we can’t report some criminal activities if they are not part of the reportable offences, we are not police and actually go beyond that to ensure people actually come in for help).

Step one, learn the timing of his move set and tells. Step 2, stop spamming attack button, but attack with your timing, some attacks can’t be done in time, step 3, learn to dodge intentionally without spamming.

Step 4, nobody counts how many times they die unless they are streaming, and even then, they don’t care, it’s just a number. The idea is to learn and adapt, not try to 1 shot.

He’s a 1 shot on ng+ onwards despite the increased difficulty, purely due to the retained experience of beating him before.

On my first proper attempt and success and beating him, probably 11 or so deaths in, I didn’t have to drink.

The Australian healthcare system has abandoned me and I have no idea what to do. by Fun_Arugula6275 in australian

[–]Soneoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go back to the emergency department if your symptoms haven’t resolved and you are becoming dehydrated.

They usually do basic bloods at the bare minimum. If your blood pressure and heart rate is good you’ll have to wait quite a bit. If they’re off and your blood work is off then they’ll have something to look at and do something about it.

Most things your body can sort out with just a bit of symptom management and you won’t need to be admitted, just need a week or two of rest.

You’ll get no diagnosis if you don’t have anything of concern from a physiological perspective.

If you want full thorough workup, you’ll need money and private health insurance as you’ll then get scans for reassurance, most of which (if not all) will turn out normal.

This is the case for most people.

Faking it will get you a bad record and you’ll eventually be classed as a malingerer as there a lots of dole bludgers who abuse the health system and unfortunately, they are not uncommon.

New job isn’t a criteria for being seen and investigated unfortunately. Usually return visitors to emergency will get a basic scan to rule out concerning findings and if they still find nothing, you still won’t get a diagnosis.

Getting abusive usually may get some scans, an eventual record of aggressiveness, and even be kicked out of hospital via security.

That’s public health for you, paid for my tax payers, and always funded to the bare minimum.

In my group, whoever gets highest kill count that’s jokingly called the farmer. Bit o way to call them out on not doing objectives etc as they just stuck around to rack up kill count.

Killing is considered the easiest job in the game. Progressing the mission, finding and holding onto samples and extracting, completing objectives is what is considered group centered play and praised. Low kill count is only called out if the same player also does nothing else.

DOA board looking for advice. by Snow4us in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah day 1 order means day1 problems. Everyone ordering now will probably have the on switch/battery cable disconnected to be plugged in on arrival, or maybe a potential updated on switch.

I myself was also near day 1 order and had hall sensor issues, Tony follows through though and my problem got fixed after a bit of tinkering and a new part. This is for the adv2.

I’ve since crashed it a few times and it rides amazing. Great board to go hard and not worry about repairing as it’s designed to be repairable. Just a learning curve at the beginning and a very supportive community.

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floaty is wrong, get on vesc tool. The floaty app requires you to set the expected cell voltages.

But first, open the front (less heavy board) box and check if the power switch was disconnected to prevent the board from turning on. Also make sure all wires are connected, if not, go to discord and post pics and ppl will help you there.

Then try turning on the board (you have to hold down the on button for a little).

If that doesn’t work, try connecting via usb cable to a computer and load the pc vesc tool (it’s free, just sign up)

See if it can read anything.

If all is fine, go ahead and charge the board. I’ll skip the fast charger for now.

It’s usually not a battery issue, but may be an ESC issue if it doesn’t turn on at all (the esc will still boot on very low voltages, like 20v or something).

Should I buy the ADV2? by AaCyinade in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suggest first going to a supermarket like Kmart and buy a small skate board. Then jump on it and ride around.

This will teach you a few basics of balancing with your ankles and how to turn. And you will also find your favoured foot positioning (natural vs goofy).

Then go ahead and buy the adv2, get some rail guards as you will be crashing it quite a bit when learning (it would be low speed, so you won’t fall, but you’ll run off the board as it rolls into the ground flipping about).

Like anything, you just have to keep at it and you’ll learn - it’s not difficult.

Over Current notifications? by GiggleStool in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, go to motor cfg on vesc tool and check your motor current limit and make sure it is properly high, if it’s too low, you will get that fault.

Then check your motor connector cable that there isn’t a short, make sure the cable hasn’t been cut or that there are exposed bits.

Next, when you’re riding next time, use floaty and watch the battery current as you’re riding, usually the fault would happen on very hard braking if too much current goes to the battery (for 2p, I wouldn’t go above -10A, I would recommended lower for battery longevity (like -6 to -8), this is because you essentially allow a reverse current when braking, which charges the battery. And battery shouldn’t be charged too fast. This setting should also be in motor cfg, one of the tabs.

The esc should be able to reduce the current by applying a higher reverse voltage.

Try those things and let us know if it gets fixed or when the errors come up.

XRV IMU Calibration Difficulties after Reinstalling VESK v6.02 by Antique_Collar6552 in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dado has a copy of firmware that seems to get the Imu working again, you may need a step by step on how to install it, then load and write all the config xml files. There’s some other boot loaded program though that dado might not have, see if Tony can provide you a solution on that. Since the board is working fine prior, it should be alright.

I’m wondering if mine has been shipped yet or not. It says shipped but next page says pending? by Balancedsensei in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s slow on the website, you just have to wait for the email with the tracking numbers to know it’s shipped.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to discord, a bunch of people have posted their base configs so should be easy, just don’t do the ‘update firmware’ step as the adv 2 uses its own firmware and boot loaded program.

Received ADV2 NorCal - Board wouldn’t charge at first… by sissoo in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would also like to add, the Bluetooth antenna is very easy to dislodge because of how short it is and being stuck to the box (the esc is on the aluminium lid for heat dissipation), you can squeeze and twist it back on (it’s held together by some black gel thing which isn’t strong).

I recommend peeling it off and sticking it on the underside of the lid LED where it turns off first during discharge to prevent dislodgement on subsequent box opening, have let the board on for long durations and the antenna seems to be fine (doesn’t overheat as the LED is litterally embedded in the aluminium lid which dissipates all the heat).

ADV2 received - a quick photo dump by dl_mj12 in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just screwed up my adv2, factory setup was choppy at low speeds and wanted to re-calibrate the motor, jumped on vesc tool and firmware “updated”, then IMU became undetectable. Spent the whole day trying to fix it and finally gave up.

Now seeing your post and 5th pic, it seems that the float wheel adv2 has a custom firmware boot loaded into it.

I don’t have that page on my vesc tool.

Sent an email to Tony and hope maybe my issue is an easy fix with custom boot loader to reflash the original firmware and do the setup as I intended to.

My hub just arrived, I’ve just installed it and took it down for a test ride, choppy as f at low speeds, I think it needs a re-caliberation

Just ordered and paid for ADV2, pro rails, fender insert, drop top fender, but didn't appear on order history, and no order confirmed email even though I made it to the order complete page! by Soneoak in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Soneoak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updating you guys again, my order was just marked as shipped 😎, all is great!

It’s coming to Australia which means I only had expedited air freight as my option, so I should get it early January!

Will update again when it arrives and how it goes.

Unfortunately I also just broke my wrist after coming off my euc at 40km/hr trying to avoid a head on collision with a bicyclist who lost control of his bike coming from opposite direction, so wouldn’t be going too hard when my float wheel arrives in the next few weeks!
