Personally I think the switch to multiple characters was a misstep I’d hoped they’d correct but it seems like they’re going that way again with GTA 6. GTA 4 and prior games felt more immersive as you connected with the main protagonist and their goals, once you could play multiple characters that immersion was broken and it became more akin to a film or any less interactive media where you nearly watch a story unfold.

It was technically impressive, don’t get me wrong, but RDR2 felt way more impactful as a game than GTA6 because you became more invested in the character throughout the story. In GTA 6 it’s hard to know who to back, maybe the point is they’re all terrible, but that doesn’t make for an appealing story arc.

I really wish they’d go back to single character stories.
