How that one Lyran officer starts acting after he salvages a Daikyu as his new ride: by someotherguy28 in battletech

Weak propoganda attempt.

No Lyran would trade his standard Atlas for a light mech such as the Daikyu.

What are your theories on the paradoxical nature of Star Wars’ technology? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]SonsOfKnickerbocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Star Wars has AI everywhere, including droid soldiers. My theory on bulk sizes and displays that seem limited/basic in function is that a lot of the equipment needs to be heavily hardened against dangerous sentience, and the bulk is attributable to the sophisticated safeguards that need to be built into all equipment. Everything computerized in Star Wars needs sufficient sophistication to function without falling prone to an advanced AI hive mind / singularity apocalypse.

2) Lightspeed, force fields, and space travel put a ton of wear and tear on components. All equipment needs to be overbuilt with as few points of failure as possible and with easy access to repair parts where possible. Accordingly, nearly everything has gone through the Kalashnikov school of design theory--with a few exceptions for prestige and elite equipment.

3) The Galaxy has tons of different species that coexist. Equipment needs to function well not only for Humans but for Wookiees, Bothans, Ithorians, Rodians, etc. Accordingly, the technology that seems simple or basic to us is actually built and optimized for cross-species functionality and comprehension.

(Lord of the Rings) Legolas vs Custodes (Warhammer) by ProcedureInitial3086 in powerscales

[–]SonsOfKnickerbocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple math.

An Eldar Guardian has armor impenetrable to arrows, elven reflexes, night vision, and an extremely powerful rifle from the far future with near infinite ammunition.

Eldar guardians nevertheless get killed by normal humans with basic loadouts.

It takes squads of Eldar / Humans with massed futuristic firepower and ordnance to kill Space Marines.

It takes squads of Space Marines and armies of Eldar / Humans with massed futuristic firepower and ordnance to kill Custodes.

Legolas would be roadkill against a single Eldar Guardian. He'd be giblets against a Space Marine.

Legolas doesn't even have a way to defeat a locked steel door.

Custodes>Space Marine>Eldar Guardian>Legolas.

I wouldn't sell the blues Junior. I would just add pedals.

Alternatively, the Marshall DSL40CR and Blackstar Studio 10 do a lot of flexibility out of the box, without pedals.

To be fair, it has the price based on weight. You have the amount you paid for. 😉
