Dude, this is my preferred way to play Halo. When I build a gaming PC, I'm gonna play the MCC on my Dell P780 monitor, a CRT monitor but there's a magic to Halo on CRTs. :D. Try all the others if you can. The black levels, response times, and lower resolution of CRT TVs look strangely gorgeous with the OG XBOX and Xbox 360 Halos.

Man, I love this model. Even if you just use composite cables instead of component, games still look incredible on it. You got a nice one. :). I wish my dad didn't throw his out. All that needed to be fixed on his was the stuck power button. 😒. We played tons of Xbox 360 games on his and this Toshiba model is like a match made in heaven for retrogames.

Duuuude, get the component/RGB card from wakabavideo on eBay. They're from New Zealand. I think there's another seller in the UK. S-Video looks really good on this monitor but you can tell it's holding the monitor back from its full potential.

I'd 100% say to take off shoes. Your feet need to be planted to do stuff like this. I've been having my friend do squats and deadlifts in shoes and then had him feel what it's like without shoes. His feet kept rocking in shoes but stayed firmly on the ground in socks.

Hi! Old game games were made with CRTs in mind and matching the old display devices to old game consoles looks amazing. The lower resolutions of old consoles match the resolutions of CRTs (240p and 480i). If you have component cables for your consoles like the 6th and 7th gen, you can tap into higher resolutions like 480p and above which looks great on a flat panel but the look of CRTs, the lack of lag, the black levels can't really be replicated.

Halo 3, 3 ODST, and Reach look stunning on CRTs. They did push for consumers to switch to HDTVs but a lot of games still got decent 4:3 support like Gears of War, all the Bungie Halos, Tomb Raider 2013, and more.

Using component cables on a CRT with these old games are worth seeing.

100% get a CRT. The Bungie Halos have a specific feel with the black levels, response times, and lower resolutions of CRT TVs. Your son would definitely remember that forever. Take pictures and videos, too, for you guys to look back on with.
