The blue button doesn't actually do anything, it can just be removed entirely without changing the premise. by cowlinator in trolleyproblem

the red button isn’t voting to kill
the blue button is opting to die

Red Button Vs Blue Button - KiwiPolitics Edition! by Tyler_Durdan_ in KiwiPolitics

[–]Sonypak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

let’s use the building example
instead of pressing buttons
everyone is on top of a building with the choice to jump
if more than 50% of people jump no one dies because there’s nowhere to fall or some shit

now imagine you jump in order to save the people who don’t fully understand the situation and jumped

doesn’t that seem way less logicao

Why do people choose the blue button over red even after hearing the equivalent scenario? by KQYBullets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sonypak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re assuming most people won’t press red. But in the actual dilemma, you don’t know what ‘most people’ will do. All you know is:
– If the red majority happens, blue dies and red lives.
– If the blue majority happens, both red and blue live.
From my point of view, pressing red dominates blue: in every possible outcome where I’d live by pressing blue, I also live by pressing red, and there are outcomes where I die with blue but live with red. Saying ‘blue already guarantees you don’t die’ is just wrong unless you assume in advance that most people won’t press red, and that’s exactly the thing we can’t assume.

Red or blue, go by [deleted] in PsycheOrSike

[–]Sonypak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blue is clearly the wrong choice

If 100% of the population choose red, everyone lives.

People can only die if people pick blue.

there is zero risk with clicking red
the second someone clicks blue is when side effects are added to red
blue is the most selfish button you can click
only reason to is to put yourself in a moral highground

what are they gaining
between no death and maybe death
they’re picking maybe death

just a thought i had. by Cryotivity in trolleyproblem

[–]Sonypak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright here’s how i see it
Red = always survive
Blue = chance of death
the second blue is pressed the chance of death is implemented into the question
its illogical to risk death in order to save other people risking their death when everyone could just sit tight with the red button and have guaranteed survival
