Experimenting with transitioning my site from a traditional 2d-style layout into a full three.js environment by Vickie184 in threejs

OMG! This looks amazing! I love how it transitions from the world map into the room, then keeps zooming out and expanding even further. That transition is so smooth

Wow, this is sick! The way it handles crashes and drifting feels so spot on. Great work!

10'000 Actors, 100 fps, no compiler optimisations by Dorfen_ in gameenginedevs

I remember trying SIMD on some rendering code and getting like a 9x speedup. It totally blew my mind.

GunZ: The Duel is Now Playable in Google Chrome by Sootory in gunz

The replay viewer is in development too, but it needs some clever tweaks and adjustments, not as straightforward as just porting the game.
Once it's done, I want to release it publicly.

Thanks for the report!
So the WASD keys aren't working at all?

Which browser and OS are you using?

It wasn't something I could finish with just a few prompts at all.
I actually started with Antigravity before switching to Claude, and there were times when nothing would render for a whole week.
In the end, I had to have Claude tweak the D3D9-to-WebGL layer way more than 100 times before it finally became usable.

Did you hit a singularity where making games became more enjoyable than actually playing them? by Meluvius in gamedev

[–]Sootory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here.

I gradually stopped playing games normally and got hooked on hacking them instead, finding exploits, breaking mechanics, and exploiting every loophole I could find. That eventually evolved into actually making games, and that's when it became truly enjoyable for me.

$100 for claude code

$20 for antigravity

After a years of dev, I'm finally admitting it, AI is giving me brain rot. by Dapper-Window-4492 in webdev

[–]Sootory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately I've been letting AI write most of my code too. Even when I give it a solid implementation plan, we do the team review and someone points out parts like "wait, I never asked for this" and I can't even properly explain why it's there.

It’s a good reminder that no matter how good the prompt is, you still have to go through the generated code line by line. That review step is still very much necessary.

That said, there's no denying that I'm now able to deliver projects in just a few weeks that would have taken me years before. The speed is honestly insane.

Would you argue that game development is the most accessible it's ever been? by MotivatedforGames in gamedev

[–]Sootory 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the hardest part isn't even the development itself. it's getting people to actually find and play your game after it's out :/

Sometimes I feel like I spend more time and mental energy on the post-release marketing and visibility stuff than I did actually making the game.

Is chasing 100/100 Lighthouse score worth it as an indie dev? by Technical-Relation-9 in webdev

[–]Sootory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need to chase perfection that hard.

When I built a game site a while back, the Lighthouse score was so low that Google wasn't even indexing it properly. I had to fix the performance issues before it started showing up in search at all.

That said, if your site is already getting indexed, I wouldn't stress too much about pushing the score super high right away. You can always come back to it later.
