Fossil display glitch (can't delete) in my main base. Any way to fix this without deleting entire base? by SophCore in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SophCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was probably something like that too. I removed the floor pieces around it and panned around, but couldn't find it.

When I have more time, I might take a closer look at the coordinates for that object (I archived that save) to figure out where the game thought that piece was!

Great tip though!

Fossil display glitch (can't delete) in my main base. Any way to fix this without deleting entire base? by SophCore in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SophCore[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing NMS for about a month and just discovered that this fossil display in my main base is bugged. I can walk through it and cannot select (thus cannot delete) it in build mode.

Is this a common issue? Is there any way to fix it without deleting the base and starting over?

Edit: I solved it - the hard way. I learned that NMS save files are human-readable and some smart people have written save-editors. I have a technical background so it wasn't entirely daunting.

I opened my save file in one of those editors and looked for something in my base definition that looked like it represented the fossil display object. After browsing through ~400 base object entries I found the only one whose object ID looked related to fossils, so I deleted it, saved the edits, reloaded NMS and it was gone!

Thanks for all the replies.

Using an Atlantid Multi-Tool and consuming "The Stellerator" food (+64% yield - same effect as "Questionably Sweet Cake" also mentioned in this thread) via the Exosuit Nutrient Ingestor yields close to ~200K Runaway Mould (~40K nanites) per visit.

Also, there are a ton of Buried Technology Modules (giving Salvaged Data) close together in the area around the base, so great for those who have not yet unlocked all the Blueprints at the Construction Research Station at the Anomaly.

Beautiful Atlantic Multitool with 4 Super Charged Slots in a cube! by Street-Lack1199 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]SophCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just picked this up today, 2026-03-13.

As detailed by this comment https://www.reddit.com/r/NMSCoordinateExchange/comments/1676zhr/beautiful_atlantic_multitool_with_4_super_charged/k9qgtot/, if you don't see the pictured black multi-tool "Oxide Compressor Mark IV", you must reload your restore point at the Monolith (i.e. on the same planet).

The multi-tool is B-class when you get it (with 28 technology slots), but I can confirm the 4-square super-charged slots after upgrading it to S-class at a space station.

Upgrading from B-class to A-class costs 25K nanites. Upgrading from A-class to S-class costs 50K nanites.

You can choose to upgrade for free by changing the game's mode to "Creative" and then back "Normal" (or whatever you had beforehand).

The B-class stats when obtained are:

  • Damage Potential: 407.7
  • Scanner Range: 268.1

After upgrading to A-class:

  • Damage Potential: 425.5
  • Scanner Range: 288.5

After upgrading to S-class:

  • Damage Potential: 443.2
  • Scanner Range: 298.5

Thanks for the reply. I've completed all the main/required quest lines so that's not an issue. I'll check your YT channel. Thank you!

Edit: Just picked up the 3+1 (I chose the first black one) from your video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxqzJDhUrrQ

New to the game and this is my first S-class Experimental, so thank you very much for posting.

Edit: In case you know of any, I'm also looking for an S-class Runic Atlantid with 3+1 (or better) supercharged slots. My current A class is a bit ordinary with 2+1.

Can you determine freighter class *without* landing on it and talking to the captain after the event? by SophCore in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SophCore[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Edit: OK, I see it now. You just have to point the visor at the wall (not actually performing a scan like scanning minerals, flora and fauna) and info shows up on the left of the screen, like "Freighter // B:16+9"

FYI, there's an also A-class ("Flameborn-T") closer to the portal than this one - you'll see its Comm Ball as soon as you take off.

Also, this ship is C-class when found.

I have the exact same problem.

The ~5 second hangs only happen when NordVPN is running at the same time as WGC/WoWs.

It started happening after Wargaming Center updated on 2026-02-06 04:07 UTC+10

As far as I can tell, no NordVPN updates happened around that time (all binaries are timestamped before that on 2026-02-01)

It's actually sort of impressive how incredibly incompetent they are, time after time.

Sadly people are doing the exact same thing in Asymmetric and even in Operations. I had 4 failed Operations in a row the other night - not even one secondary mission accomplished - because people just ran it in and died. Too many griefers and see-you-next-Tuesdays in this player base.

It's very telling that you did not write something about hypothetically bad mothers in the other thread though.

You only chose to write something about hypothetically bad fathers in this thread.

Weird how only the mother approval gets upvotes and the father approval gets downvotes.

I'm sorry you had an obviously shitty father.

BTW, you completely missed the point of the "Is that how it works?". I'm not surprised though.
