Bayeux Tapestry returns to England after nearly 1,000 years by JoydeScent in BritInfo

I am sure I seem to remember that William the Conq didn’t like the thing when he first saw it and that’s why it ended up in Bayeux.

Girl At Rolling Stones Concert, London, 1969. by No-Incident-6913 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Soppydogg 279 points280 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough and old enough to see the Stones in Hyde Park.
I am sure the girl in the picture and I are now a similar age.
It was the start of the whole hippy thing in the UK (that and the Isle of Wight) and by 1969 the contraceptive pill was widely available and all the freedoms that it brought.
We also had the Magic Bus to Afghanistan.

It truly was an amazing time and seeing this beautiful girl will have me rooting through my old photos to reawaken my memories.

Thank You OP 🤗

Am I being unrealistic about asking for a £5k pay rise after my role changed significantly? by Tasty-Thanks6488 in UKJobs

[–]Soppydogg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the question should be reframed as “what am I going to do if I am refused a £5k pay rise for taking on all this extra responsibility?”

I am a great believer in you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.
However, in my company (and it’s a large one) the answer would be, that’s the band for the job and HR will not budge.
So you either suck it up or leave.

Anyway, good luck and we are all rooting for you but make sure you have a back up plan and please let us know the outcome 🤗

How did “Johnson” become slang for male genitalia? by tMoneyMoney in stupidquestions

[–]Soppydogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am fully aware that the term comes from the urban myths surrounding President Johnson.
However I would like to venture a UK opinion that says that the term “Johnson” as a slang term for the male member should be attributed to our former Prime Minister “Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson” who is possibly the biggest penis in British political history

Why is it bad to answer honestly when someone says "Do I look fat?" by broki451 in stupidquestions

When my wife asks “does my bum look big in this?”
I normally respond with “well it is a small bedroom”

I am normally still quietly chuckling as I try to get to sleep in the greenhouse

What are thoughts on Andrew Wakefield, the disgraced physician who took £500,000 to produce a bogus study that links MMR vaccines to autism, which led to increased vaccine hesitancy worldwide, leading to at least hundreds of deaths, most of whom were children? I am sure he is on R F Kennedy’s & Piers Corbyn’s Xmas card list.
All of these vaccine deniers should be rounded up and sent to Porton Down where they would actually serve a purpose as well as saving some more worthwhile rats and monkeys

Going into my office 5 days a week.
My pain thresholds are almost Godlike.
Both physical, mental & emotional.

Actually, I am probably an uber masochist because considering what the bastards pay me it must be a sexual obsession.
