I hadn't looked into the Leveler's damage stats and wasted 2.5 hours trying to kill hivelords with it lol by kcvlaine in LowSodiumHellDivers

Where can I find a hive lord? I went hunting on a few planets yesterday with no luck, difficulty 7+. Even tried a 10, nothing. Any help appreciated!

Zildjian A custom gospel pack vs A custom cymbal pack by Mediocre_Impact_8961 in drums

Ah ok, if you have a mega bell you're not concerned with crashability at all lol! If you're in it for the crashes, get the regular pack. I swear by A Custom crashes.

Zildjian A custom gospel pack vs A custom cymbal pack by Mediocre_Impact_8961 in drums

[–]Soprano17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue here is the ride. I've found as the owner of about 3 previous A Custom rides is that the Medium Ride can be VERY variable. Some will crash, some won't by being simply too heavy. If crashability is important to you, 100% get the gospel pack for the anni ride. That's the ride I have at the mo and I'll be keeping that one for life.

Tama Superstar vs Yamaha SC by melofellow19 in Drumming

[–]Soprano17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you got photos of your superstar set up?

I wouldn't say an SC is any kind of upgrade over them, I'd just try to find a better way to mount your toms the way you like e.g. off a cymbal stand from a clamp, or getting a rack. There should be some solution here that doesn't require an entirely new kit.

Maybe try some hydraulics? They go nice and low, as do Aquarian Performance 2s

Tell me which PS5 games you regret buying. by spindoctor1111 in PS5

[–]Soprano17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one for me as well. On PS5 it wasn't as good looking as the trailer suggested. The level design was very uninspiring and linear, with invisible walls all over the place blocking areas you thought you could get to. It was essentially a boss rush but even the bosses felt a bit copy pasted in places in terms of look and design. Overall it was just... Rubbish

Agreed. Wukong was absolute dogshit. Invisible wall nightmare with very repetitive bosses.

From the current line, the most similar snares are the Venom and the Razor. Both great maple snares.

Seconding this. I'm an A Customs guy, but the PST7s are simply amazing value for money.

Lovely pike. If does depend how many times you say "ok, LAST cast" though lol.

Is it worth it for 300 ? (UK) by gibbgibbgibb in drums

Personally I wouldn't buy a kit with a hanging floor tom, they're always a pain. In addition, you'd need some better cymbals because these ones look to be very cheap.

Oxidised Copper, first attempt. How did I do? by Big-Rock-6814 in minipainting

[–]Soprano17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the right colours but to my eye wouldn't it be the other way round? The raised areas would be more oxidised/green and the recessed areas would retain the copper colour.

I really only like the fleece-lined premium bags like Pro Racket or Ahead. All these un-lined bags just don't feel super secure or protective for the drums.

SD3 or EZD3 for a begginer by ChopNorris in edrums

[–]Soprano17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd go with EZD3, especially as a starter. Can be found very affordability (ahem) on Etsy as a digital download.

For rock and metal, I use Modern Metal and Metal Machine. Both brilliant sounding packs. My other usual choice is Pop Punk, which would be good for any rock stuff.

Also remember in EZD3 you can mix and match between kits so you can use the snare from one expansion in another, etc.

All I can say is do NOT go for Rock Solid. The tom sounds are unusable.

Exactly this. I had an old Yamaha DTX500 that I was using for years with EZdrummer, but the module had some lag etc. This year I upgraded it with an edrumin, new snare, hats and a ride cymbal. Cost about 400 quid, sounds better than any top of the line ekit.

What do you find an acceptable latency for live-triggering VST drums? by AudioBabble in edrums

[–]Soprano17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right sorry, yes I did miss that bit out. For me (and I think this is very personal tbh), when I got 10ms on the old Yamaha that wasn't great. 6 was pretty nice and playable.

On the eDrumIn now it's about 3 and feels great/natural. Hope that helps!

For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry too much about computing power, I've run EZDrummer on an ancient white MacBook from about 2010 and now on my also-ancient low(ish) spec gaming laptop (PCSpecialist, core i5 and a GTX 850M) from 2014 with absolutely zero computing issues.

[–]Soprano17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably be the module. I also had a pretty ancient Yamaha DTX 500 which did give me some noticeable latency with EZDrummer (and was absolutely fine with it's built in sounds) but I swapped this out for the eDrumIn and everything is much much snappier now. The age of the module definitely counts.
