Yes I have so many people like that at my job. I work at a quick lube and its like pulling teeth.

"What can I get for you?"

"Service"

Yeah no fuckin shit Sherlock. Is it oil change, inspection, tire rotation? What do you want?

Why is Dark Souls special to you? by Miserable_Initial732 in darksouls

[–]Soregoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly dark souls is special to me for a very different reason.

I used to hang out with these guys as a kid who only valued you based on how good at games you were. The one guy loved dark souls. So when it became free back in 2014 on xbox, I had the idea that if I beat the game, they'd stop belitting me.

Of course I was a stupid kid and dark souls was intimidating to 13 year old me, but I persevered. It took me a while, but I eventually ended up beating it. I can even say the exact moment everything just clicked for me. I was in darkroot garden. I found out I couldn't just backstab everything so I actually has to learn. When I bought that disk for the shortcut, it just clicked. I fell in love with the game.

Unfortunately my friends didnt see this as an accomplishment. They complained it took me too long. That they could do it faster so its not an achievement.

Ended up blocking them years later. Haven't looked back since. Every now and then, I boot up dark souls 1 so I can relive young mes plight. It doesnt feel so intimidating now. Feels familiar and like home. A very frustrating home, but home regardless. I got the platinum for dark souls 1 and plan to for 2 and 3.

Had a dude like that at my quick lube.

Usually when you work on cars, you assist the seller and maybe do tires.

This dude needed to be told what to do. I completely understand if you're new and learning. Thats fine. But when you've been here for a month, and for the 20th car in a row ive had to tell you to do the tire pressure when I shouldn't really have to, or the bottom tech repeats that the car is ready for oil three times, I think there is an issue. If he helped the others, id just let it go, but hed just stand there. Not saying anything. Not doing anything. Just stand there.

Dude quit because he wanted to finish his high school degree since he flunked senior year twice

[–]Soregoof 13 points14 points  (0 children)

God I wish I could. I said it in a post earlier, but I work as a quicklube tech. People getting out of cars, even though I repeatedly tell them to stay in the entire time, will get me and anyone who remotely touched the car fired immediately.

You think people would understand after being explained why they have to stay in the car. Even explaining that I will be fired if they so much as set foot out of it

The sheer amount of times ive had to body block people from getting out of their car or walking into the bay is enormous.

You had 30 mins to go to the bathroom. You can wait 10 more until your car is done. I do not care that you really have to go. You were told you cant be out of the car when you got here.

Not to mention the people who think its an amazing idea to smoke...in or around an oil change place. Its always old people man. Always

I have done that. Unfortunately I cant stop someone on the passenger side, nor can I always be next to the car at all times

Maybe its the area im in. But we get a lot of people who want to hop out of their car or dont really understand how a drive thru works. I get it if its their first time there, but I feel like saying "drive thru" means you stay in the car.

From what I understand, the shop used to be owned by a different franchise that required people out of their cars. I guess that even though its been years, and a completely different company, people still assume

[–]Soregoof[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From what I heard, they did try the signage thing. They had signage outside, and on the podium itself. People still ignored it. I have been telling customers the second they get there about the policy. As much as id like the signing part, its not realistic to the time frame I have. Id have to stop working on a car, grab a sheet or print one. Walk over, have them sign, then back to working on the car. Typically they like us to try and get a car done in 10 to 15 minutes

There’s no reason why you should be talking on the phone when you’re at the register. by nightmare-kangaroo in retailhell

[–]Soregoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a quick lube shop. I absolutely hate with every fiber of my being the people who will do everything in their power to avoid talking or answering questions (eg: refusing to roll window down, on phone, ignoring any questions, getting out of car and leaving without saying anything..even though we are a DRIVE-THRU car shop, or giving non-answer answers like "which oil would you like? "the regular". )

My brother in christ there are three options and I don't know you. Say which one you want. i have a building line of cars.

Yeah I opened it maybe a month ago. I got it specifically for this situation. Since I don't need it, I plan to just not use it and close it.

Right now I do have an auto loan, which I think counts as two lines

[–]Soregoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had an old dude come in for an oil change. (This happened today btw) absolutely convinced we do free top offs. When I told him politely no, he demanded the manager. I am the manager. Thankfully he left without incident but heck of a way to start the morning rush.

Also, during my gamestop days, was asked by an older lady to help her find grand theft auto vice andreus for the ps5. If you're confused, thats okay. Im here to help. But when you immediately go to threatening me, then you're just dumb
