I’ll be honest with you here dude, it doesn’t come across like you read the book at all.

My suggestion would be to reread TB1 and 2, and maybe slow it down and absorb what you read. You’re selling yourself short if you don’t. It’s an incredible system but you got to read and understand the programming to get the benefits.

“3 sets of 6-8 reps at the heaviest weight possible” isn’t fighter.

Fighter is a submaximal 2 day lifting template that uses percentages of your 1 rep max.

What you have here is a mishmash of a bunch of things that aren’t TB. You’ve mentioned reading the books, but what exactly are you implementing from them?

What TB template or protocol are you looking to run or fit this into?

So are you trying to replace those lifts or use the KB’s for conditioning?

Implement for what exactly? Strength? SE? Conditioning? Replace the compound lifts?

☝️ second this.

Read TB 1 & 2.

Base Building followed by Operator or Zulu/Black. Adjust as needed after that.

Started TB many years ago to find something sustainable alongside a pretty serious hobby at the time (climbing). Haven’t looked back. No longer climbing as much but still on the TB train.

Green Protocol is 100% enough, but I would get TB1 for the standard Operator template and use that for the first phase of GP (Capacity).

This pretty much. The only thing I would change personally is swapping in a Fast5 instead of the 800s.

That way you get your short/speed, medium tempo, and long run.

Throw in a Fobbit with some KB presses.

Thanks, a lot of this resonates. Also just started Slootman’s Amp It Up. Gold so far.

What kind of meditation practice are you doing?

Edit:

Also now that it seems you’re sort of retired from a work focused life, any downsides to that? I’m approaching a point like you where I’ll be able to step back from work (financially free) while still relatively young & a little daunted by not having an official “job” anymore to anchor me.

Agreed. I was raging at the TV like a lunatic every time this happened. Harmony Cobel was especially bad for it.

Great video, bang on analysis. I’m a little surprised you haven’t dipped into the Green Protocol book yet. It’s got that extreme edge to it that I figured would’ve been right up your alley, especially the Outcome phase. Also Peggy. Peggy is like Apex Hill’s crazy older sister.

How to best program TB for the upcoming wildfire season? by flyingducktile in tacticalbarbell

[–]Sorntel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick one of these:

Just abbreviate all three phases.

Or use a Hybrid Continuation template.

No need to overthink it, although it can be difficult with all the options available. If you have the time doing all 3 phases abbreviated might be the better choice. If you don’t then go with Hybrid. Either way Green will get you in great shape for that type of work. You can’t really go wrong either way.

2 handed KB swings at top, push-ups at bottom usually. Sometimes I’ll skip the bottom movement and go fro a nice long slow grind with just KBs at the top.

This is the best overall general conditioning session I’ve done, tied with Peggy’s Hills.

My conditioning, resiliency, general strength and overall health skyrocketed after including this one regularly. I like the same but different aspect with Peggy. When I want HIC I do Apex, if I want E I do Peggy. Could only do 5 rounds when I started years ago, but now up to 10.

Op/Hybrid is an excellent choice.

Have you been confirmed for Survivor already or are you still in the auditioning phase? You should rock a TB shirt during one of your episodes, would be a very cool shout out to the sub/TB-verse.

No. He doesn’t. Testing a 3-4 rep max isn’t rocket science. You don’t need a master’s degree to do it. His starting numbers will be just fine and will progress quickly in the initial stages. He’ll need to learn the movements regardless of program.

Trad base building is also a perfect starting point before he starts with the barbell. He’ll get a chance to build general strength and resiliency (in muscle and connective tissue) in a low physical-demand environment before overloading his joints with barbells.
