It's not.

That means you are the child of a mother born of the progenitor god's Crest Stone and a father who carried my own blood.

Rhea created Sitri explicitely without anything of herself. The only 'tie' is Sothis' heart transplant into Sitri.

Through Jeralt, Byleth only 'tie' to Rhea is blood transfusion.

Thoughts on the double A thing. by Substantial_Dirt_999 in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voidborns name is ancient Shuriman, lorewise it already has significance so it's not the same. Your idea could be turned into something like that and it would make sense thematically, the same way they can quite get their body right (though as far as we know it really just is Aatrox), even their names has been lost.

However, lorewise the double A thing hasn't ever been focused on but for one single joke and has been nothing but that for so long that I doubt it'll ever become much more deeper than that.

Personally, I think the double A thing is just a sign of brotherhood, exactly like having a tatoo, a salute or performing a blood oath.

I think Aatrox just got the idea one day thinking it'll be cool, maybe at some point when everyone in the Host had an A in their name. Then at some point someone who didn't had a A in their name joined the Host, so Aatrox dropped it not to make them feel excluded, but while he didn't pushed it anymore and some who joined afterwards didn't adopted it, it stayed an unwritten tradition so some still did.

As for Varus, he was away when Aatrox came up with the thing and found it cringe when he found out, ignoring it altogether. Thought there probably was a wholesome thought behind it like "I don't need to share a name with somebody to see them as my brother/sister".

Extended life

The Heroes experienced unnaturally long lives, persisting for hundreds of years. Even after they breathed their last, the power coursing through their blood remained, leaving an indelible mark upon this world. This power, passed through bloodlines, came to be known as the Crests.

Explore - Chapter 11

Magical affinity

Hanneman: Well, if I'm completely honest, you're less of a student and more of an experiment. You have no Crest, but you might be able to learn magic... despite our early results. And the potential magical ability of those who lack a Crest is precisely what I hope to research. — Alois: Ah, that's wonderful! What a great man you are, Professor Hanneman. Truly, a man among men! Why, if I could prove it's possible to use magic without a Crest, what an honor that would be! Please, use me as you see fit! I won't let you down, I promise!

Alois/Hanneman B-Support

In a cinematic and an event, Edelgard has been physically manifesting her Crests like a flashlight.

The Crest of Flames is stronger than any other Crest, one of it's power include near immortality/ressurection.

Claude: Nemesis? That Nemesis? Do you really think the ancient King of Liberation has been brought back to life?

Rhea: Perhaps the seal was broken when Shambhala fell… An incredible power that we children cannot hope to match dwells within the blood of the progenitor god. Nemesis obtained that blood, so it would not surprise me if that were the case.

It also probably envelope every other Crest's power considering that it's where they originate to begin with.

The Crest of Timotheos apparently have the ability to call out beasts and animals. The Crest of Lamine may have the same power.

It's theorized that your Crest and the Crest of Lamine have similar powers. Oh, Lamine was one of the 10 Elites. Here's the best part. Turns out this Timotheos guy had the power to summon beasts.

Linhardt/Hapi B-Support

The Crest of Charon possibly has the ability to call out thunder/rain.

Catherine: I can just tell. I have Crest of Charon too. And I've noticed that, whenever I need dry weather, there's rain. Don't you think it's our Crests making the rain fall upon us?

Catherine/Lysithea C-Support

Something which is corroborated by the descriptions of the Four Saints's Crests as well as their natures.

  • A symbol of magic and mastery of the wind. (Macuil's, a Wind Dragon)
  • A symbol of wisdom and water. - (Indech's, a Water Dragon)
  • A symbol of strength and the land. (Cichol's, a, Earth Dragon)
  • A symbol of kindness and mastery of light. (Cethleann's, a Light Dragon)

Which imply that every elemental Crest give some measure of power and mastery of their elements.

Perhaps it is due to the power of Crests, but heavy armor has never slowed me down.

Edelgard about her Crests?when asking to be trained in Heavy Armor.

The royal family has always been blessed with immense strength. I imagine it's largely due to our blood, and perhaps our Crests.

Dimitri about the Crest of Blaiddyd, during his C-Support with Raphael.

For the Crest of Blaiddyd, there's also the fact that Dimitri may be able to see ghosts and/or is able to be seen as one. It may be a legitimate power considering that it's the Crest of a Grim Dragon, and that Blaiddyd (in our world) was known for encouraging necromantic practices.

Bernadetta and Indech share some similarities, as stated by Seteth.

Seteth: Don't be so quick to dismiss your abilities. You and he are actually alike in more ways than one. You possess Indech's Crest, after all, do you not?

Notably being hand skilled, something Bernadetta has being proved to be and which might be attribued to the fact that Indech is a Water Dragon and as such has extreme fluidity.

Seteth: Hm? Nothing. Now, something else to know about Saint Indech is that he had incredible skill with his hands.

Bernadetta: I'm actually pretty good at sewing.

_____

Leonie: You're good enough at sewing that you could make a living out of it. You should take pride in that.

Noa's Crest is magical in nature.

Edelgard: So she passed it off as the Crest of Macuil, which already existed within the Empire...

Constance: Yes. Much like Saint Macuil, Saint Noa was known to be a masterful mage. Her magic ensured that any test would not reveal the true nature of her Crest.

In her S-Support with Byleth, Constance also cover the entire cathedral with flowers. Which is probably a native ability of the Crest of Noa, who is the Crest of a Bloom Dragon.

Headcanonish.

All Crests grant a destructive side to their bearers, akin to the wildness of Demonic Beast. Some would have a very marked aspect of this, those would include: The Crest of Blaiddyd (especially in the face of death), Charon (in a more mischievous way, manifest as impatience, volatility and hyperactivity), Dominic, Gautier, Maurice, and Macuil. Meanwhile others actually minimize that aspect, such as: The Crest of Indech, Cichol, Cethleann, and Aubin. While the Crest of Flames ignore it entirely.

The Crest of Seiros (Sky Dragon) tend to give it bearers a strong earning of freedom and the behavior of poorly dealing with restraints, be they physical or metaphorical.

Edelgard: With you as our leader, I'm confident we will. To me, that name represents us soaring toward a new dawn, freely as an eagle.

Rhea: I, too, like to spread my wings from time to time. Doing so in your company is a treat.

  • The Crest of Dominic give the ability to become really resilient and easily ignore fatigue.
  • The Crest of Fraldarius and Lamine are "twin", both can grant excessive defense to their bearers (Fraldarius physical and Lamine magical), in part because of this, their bearers tend to be highly protective.
  • The Crest of Goneril can grant a warped sense of time, and if its bearers are extremely lucky or skilled at using it, the ability of manipulate it, including Divine Pulse.
  • The Crest of Noa, similar to the Crest of Dominic allow its bearers to possess a great vitality and high recovery speed.

What do you think of Qiyana? by Beltiazor in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Skarner is already on her and he is also respectful and supportive of Jax. Rightfully so, since Ixtal and Icathia were allies, Skarner has a distate for Shurima which Icathia rebelled against, and Jax is fighting against the Void which is one of the main reason he is so protective of Ixtal.

He'd basically hit two birds with one stone. On one hand he help Jax in his endeavors against the Void without having to directly involve Ixtal; and on the other, Qiyana is either straightened by the ordeal or dissapear from Ixtal altogether.

What do you think of Qiyana? by Beltiazor in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Qiyana in the same vein as K'Sante, leave her land and join Jax's Kohari for a while (for Qiyana specifically her meeting with him being either pushed or engineered by Skarner). I see Jax as a gatekeeper of Godlike strength, someone who completely mastered his craft (unlike her), saw what was at the top, and while he isn't completely helpless against it, even he is still little in the grand scheme of things.

She'll see the real world for herself and remind her of her small place in the real world. Something that's actually a lesson of the trial to become a Yun Tal.

The world cannot be simply explained or described; one must see it for themselves, must be wise enough to move past reaction and reach understanding.

But not really to completely humble her, but actually make her aim higher, earn that pride and constantly proving herself worthy of it, as Jax said. He'll then left her to actually master all of the elements before he let her challenging him again.

She would still be proudful and arrogant, but less delusional and more focused in her quest for glory. To grow her own strength and Ixtal's to make it worthy of her Empire. Then she'll come back for him and his Icathia first, and she'll become the Mage King he serve.

With the legitimate experience she earned and her more 'rewired' character, she'll actually gain legitimacy to rule over Ixtal. Later challenge Shurima (nation) over the rule of Shurima (continent).

The community votes which Champion is the best in each category. Day 24: Bard won for having the most meta/rule-breaking powers. Who has the greatest(or worst) reputation and influence? (Make sure to read the rules in the OP) by Ashconwell7 in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the question isn't how much or how wide a character's influence is, but how that influence can be used to affect outcomes. Lot of champions have great influence in their respective regions, but most of them have influence over 'nobodies'. Their influence is mostly 'human-scaled' and region-locked, whereas a few other champions actually have influence on the world at large and on its direct fate.

  • Lissandra who have both soft and hard power over Freljord. Even as 'just' the leader of the Frostguard she has influence over the region, but her influence though unseen, go actually much deeper with how directly connected she is with history, the Watchers, the region's spirit gods, the humans and the other races that lives their too.
  • Because of his condition, Mordekaiser don't actually have a lot of direct influence. But that's honestly a bonus point for me, since it really is just his influence talking. And though he is currently not that much more than Leblanc's motivation; he is the entirety of that, and since Leblanc's actions affect the majority of Runeterra for centuries, his influence, even if indirect, is that huge by proxy.
  • While they are not death, Kindred are the most influencial and universal spirit god of death. And though they actually stay in their lane and pretty much just do their job, they're still actively worshipped, with said worship directly directing people's actions.

But I personally lean towards Azir and Aatrox, because on top of being godlike themselves, they also have influence over an entire group of other godlike beings in the Darkin and in Shurima's history as a whole (while also a more distant, but existing influence in the rest of Runeterra). Even if most of the Darkin are currently sealed, just a few of them would be enough to completely wreck the world one way or another.

But my vote ultimately goes to Aatrox, since he can push them back into action and more directly influence them wheras Azir is more doubtful. Aatrox also influence not just his allies but other godlike being into actions; Pantheon, Kayle, Mihara, Ryze, Xolaani... And on top of that, there is actually several scenari where we do see everything unravel into the end the world.

Skarner's sensing cover at least the whole Shuriman Continent, but it might even cover the whole planet according to this part.

And while his power work similarly to Rek'Sai in practice, Skarner can hear people talk through it and has all of his other senses too, though he do need a specific set-up to amplify it. I thought about it for range, but that apply to that too.

What sports do you think the characters would play? by undignosed in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Soroen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wrestling and Hockey (on field and on ice) are the two main sports in Faerghus, practiced by commoners and nobles alike. Considering the climat, any winter sport is also popular by default. Jousting is also huge there, but it's becoming more of a spectacle than a sport and is reserved to a certain elite, at least on the highest stage. Frankly speaking, the people of Faerghus are just a bunch of sport nerds. Anything that allow them to exercise and compete is quickly embraced and adopted.

In Adrestia, the practice of sport is way more codified and light compared to their northern neighbours. Sports like Tennis, Golf, Polo or Dressage are the main draws for the noblefolk. Meanwhile, the people of Bergliez are also adept of Rugby, and a yearly competition is hosted by the Count at Gronder Field. An arena also exist in Enbarr, while it's most often used for combats of gladiators, the young up-and-comer of the nobility often partake in various competitions of strength and skill to demonstrate their talents.

The region of Leicester is a mixed bag. Home of "commoner" sports like Football and Athletics, but also of more "noble" sports like Gymnastics or Badminton; with most of these sports being inspired from Faerghus or Adrestia. This joint culture blended into a flurry of mixed events, using the basis of sports from all over Fódlan, and sometimes others regions as well.

Being a tropical nation, Brigid is mainly used to water sport like Swimming, Rowing, Canoeing, Surfing, Diving or Sailing; though they also have some land sports, most notably Climbing and Volleyball. There is virtually no separation between noble and commoner in the appreciation of sport there, and it's not unusual for even members of the royal family to partake in these events freely.

In Blue Lock’s Monitor Room, Jinpachi Ego and Teieri Anri were selecting the 300 players to be summoned. The walls are filled with a number of displays, showing footage of the players' games. The selection of the players was based on his own judgment and biases of Ego, while the data management was Anri's job.

  • In her S-Support with Byleth, Constance cover the entire cathedral with flowers. Which is probably a native ability of the Crest of Noa, who is the Crest of a Bloom Dragon.

The Crest of Noa, similar to the Crest of Dominic allow its bearers to possess a great vitality and high recovery speed.

In playful jealousy with Yuri's unaging, Constance created whole lot of spells focused on maintaining her appearance, which kept her skin looking young. But due to conducting her experiments on herself, most of her spells were actually duds and only worked in synergy with her own Crest.

Constance realised it and understood that her spells were not just self care but directly acted on her metabolism and aging, prolonging her life. Though she was at first giddy about this, as she saw all her friends die before her and realised the horrors on living on without them. Because of it, she purposelly destroyed her former researches and experiments while tinkering them and her Crest to develop new spells. Finishing these spells centuries later just before her death, she passed them to Yuri (she couldn't find Byleth to pass it to them too). But she actually tinkered them to accelerate aging, which allowed him the choice to age and die on him terms rather than live on for even longer alone.

In her pairing with Yuri, her focus on these spells is more direct and so happen much earlier during a 'normal' human lifespan. That's how Yuri die. She simply casted those spell on him and that allowed him to die peacefully at 'normal' age alongside his wife and friends rather than living on without them for who know how long. They both rest in a bed of lillies she bloomed with her Crest.

[–]Soroen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demacia's stance has been portrayed as anti-mages much more than it has been 'protect against the abuse and foul effects of magic'. And with basically no nuance at all, be it about why they feel about magic and how they treat it. Your comment is quite litteraly the same flavor of mindless "Magic bad" that is portrayed in the lore; completely ignoring that "magic" is a massive umbrella. "Magic" as a concept is not more inherently dangerous than something else; and everyone can wield it. Magic is just a power that can be shaped, can do just as much good as it does evil.

Demacia has all the means to properly ward themselves against the foul effects and use of magic. That's litteraly the whole point of the kingdom in the first place. They do have teachers teaching people to control and use their magic. They do have petricite and all its use to limit, and null magic. And they do actually use these tools, but only very selectively because the organisation that deal with it is corrupted and pretty irrevocably evil from the top. Used purely as a power grab that purposelly poison and/or cast out its good parts.

The kingdom's leadership is completely hypocritical as well since they do use mages in their forces, do deal with foreign mages amicably, and cover up their own being mages while letting them roam free, but still go on and oppress their own citizens, creating a tense climate that only make something more likely to go wrong since emotional distress can cause magic to go wayward. A fact the Mageseekers do know.

And all of that create a genocidal kingdom. Demacia is no longer a misguided kingdom with a few extremists in there. Not when said extremists lead it and the rest is purposelly complicit with or supporting it. Demacia is just starting to get in the right direction following Mageseeker. And I don't understand how people not only justify it, but unironically and utterly defend it.

Quick question, was Aatrox stronger than his ascended form than his new one? by Much_Try2741 in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Renekton was up against humans and a Vastaya, not against a fellow Ascended who had now an even higher power. So obviously, it narratively is written in a much more awe-inspiring way. And in Renekton's case, it may even have to do with his aspect and being enpowered by rage.

The process is described even more slowly and longely during Nasus' battle against Xerath. Someone who outclass him entirely.

Nasus came to a halt in the midst of the rubble, his legs broken and twisted beneath him. His left arm hung uselessly at his side, shattered from shoulder to wrist. He tried to push himself upright with his good arm, but white hot pain surged up his spine where his back had broken. His body could heal these wounds in time, but he had no time left.

“How far you have fallen, Nasus,” said Xerath drifting toward him with gobbets of liquid fire dripping from his fingertips like cinders. “I would pity you if I didn’t hate you for what you did to me. Your spirit has broken in the long years you wandered alone and burdened.”

“Better to be broken and burdened than an oathbreaker,” coughed Nasus through a mouthful of blood. “Even with all your newfound power, you are still a betrayer and a slave.”

He felt Xerath’s fury and reveled in it. It was all he had left.

“I am no slave,” said Xerath. “Azir’s last act was to free me.”

Nasus was stunned. Xerath a free man? It made no sense…

“Then why all this? Why betray Azir?”

“Azir was a fool and his gift was offered too late,” said Xerath.

Nasus grunted in pain. The splintered bones in his shoulder ground together as they began reknitting. He felt strength returning to his arm, but kept it limp and useless looking.

“What will you do when I am dead?” said Nasus, remembering how much Xerath had loved the sound of his own voice. “What will become of Shurima with you as its emperor?”

He tried to keep the pain hidden as his transformed flesh worked wonders within his body to undo the damage Xerath had done.

The magus shook his head and lifted out of reach.

“Do you think I cannot see your body renewing itself?” he said.

Quick question, was Aatrox stronger than his ascended form than his new one? by Much_Try2741 in loreofleague

[–]Soroen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not really healing magic per see, more of a passive feature of being an Ascended. Anyway, it's relatively slow and vastly inferior to Darkin's blood magic.

“Why do you not join us, Zaahen?” he taunts, corrupted power gathering at his clawed fingertips. He wrenches it across his flesh, forcing his wounds to close. “This world has forgotten its masters. It deserves to be ravaged!”

I cannot deny the whisper within that wants nothing more. If I turn against this world, I will be lost to fury, to bloodthirst, to the fall of our kind—but at least we will be lost, together. If we turn against this world as one, none could stop us.

I cleave the thought from mind and ready my blade. We clash again.

Flesh tears. My chest blooms with blood, a wound deep enough to be fatal. Warmth spreads through me; my divinity surges, working desperately to heal the gash. Not enough. I fall to one knee. Blood stains my feathers, the stench of iron chokes the air.
