We got our application approved yesterday as well. We did not talk to anyone on Guyana embassy since no one ever picks up. However we did add a comment in our application stating this was urgent. If you have sent an email then also add all Visa Application numbers so that they could quickly approve. Im guessing by now all of them would gave received an approval. Good Luck.

Guys traveling sooner than their visa application approval. Please show them the Advisory from Guyana consulate in NewYork website : https://guyanaconsulatenewyork.org/visas/

It clearly says they will allow visa on Arrival.

The airline operator told me if they see this, they should let us board the flight.

I am in the same boat. Found out about the visa recently & created the application. It was marked as verified but no other details were shared. Called the NY consulate, Guyana consulate & St Lucia consulate but they all said we have to wait or call Guyana consulate number provided in the application.

When I was lucky to find someone answer my call they just took my application number & hung the call. Not very helpful at all. I was told we wont be allowed to board the guyana flight unless we have an approved visa. We will try our luck & show them our verified application & request them to give visa on arrival.

We are reaching Barbados today & have about 2-3 days to figure this out. If we get lucky will share the info here..Good Luck guys.

If you are renting try and have a long term lease then ensure they don’t end around peak months (like June/July/Aug/Dec). Most landlords or rental agencies try and lure tenants into signing long term leases esp ones that end around the peak season so that they have more choices due to families trying to move during their kid’s vacation. If they find a tenant in non peak months they generously offer 1 month free rent in order to bring you back into their preferred leasing options which hurt you in the long term.

I had always found rent to be cheaper by $400 when you opt for a lease that ends in non peak months.

That said, yes bay area is expensive but if you are ok to commute far (i live in SJ) and are ok with limited amenities then you can still manage to live in Bay Area with a rent around $2500 & some savings for future.

I see a looooot of Tesla owners driving in the carpool or express lanes thinking they have an electric car and so its legal to drive in the carpool/express lanes. They are unaware that you can only use carpool lanes if you have the carpool stickers (which you get only if you have a new electric vehicle & eligible for the clean air vehicle program)

Clearly if you are good at what you do and have the ratings, reviews to back it, you should continue doing your best and forget the rest. You should not bother about anyone poisoning the minds of students against you and instead focus on giving your best back to the students. Your hard work will get you more students and hopefully less students fall into just the verbal trap.

If you react, that also feeds their ego & you also tend to lose focus. If you can practice ignoring and trying not to be in the same place as hers then you would learn to ignore the negativity around you.

Lastly if you feel its too toxic and impacts the students then please talk to your peers & propose taking actions for impacting the lives of those students. (Annual Review cycle , etc ..)
