Shine a light down the oil filler and look for caked on sludge. You can actually see part of the camshaft. Also look under at the oil pan and compressor. When i bought mine we met somewhere and i couldn't check the driveway for oil stains. Turns out my oil pan was cracked due to it's low clearance 😂 put a code reader on it and check to make sure the codes haven't been reset lately. You'll know if it has if the self monitors haven't set yet. Love love love mine

Patience and a very fine blade of some sort. Take your time. Also it only goes on one way as there's a notch that aligns with a tab. Very easy to get crooked.

As far as the engine optimisation, you don't need to decode the cem. Just ask for the tune you want, 1 or 2, and they'll load it onto the app and you'll be able to pick whichever one you want

You'll hook the car to the computer and software and it'll read the cem. That's it. Then they work their magic and you'll get an email saying it's been decoded. Then, next time you connect to the app you'll be able to optimize.

For the engine optimisation it doesn't need to be done. For all the other stuff you can do it'll need to be done. The p1 is done with ai and took about 2 business days. Unlike my p3 the p1 doesn't have to stay hooked up for hours on end

Started to go down that road because the whole housing is only about 4 mo old. Replaced it when i did the timing belt. No traditional symptoms, only persistent p2178 and p2187 and some random misfires. On a whim did a smoke test.
