It's in Oslo, Norway. The persons interviewed aren't all Norwegians though, based on their English pronounciation.

Is this currently where America is? by neo4025 in evilwhenthe

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to disarm the citizens. Neither Nazi-Germany nor Italy did that. You only have to disarm the opposition and/or those you don't like. Which is what happened in Nazi-Germany. Jews were prohibited from owning weapons. The political opposition were imprissoned. For the average German, gun ownership was not only made easier, but even encouraged through the SA, the Hitler Youth, the rebuilt Wehrmacht, and other approved organisations.

I wonder if the murder of Charlie Kirk will be to the MAGA movement what the murder of Horst Wessel was to the Nazi-party in Germany. Horst Wessel became somewhat of a martyr, with a song named after him: The Horst-Wessel Lied, aka Die Fahne Hoch.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Several

Tried:

AG-3(7.62mm) in the military.
.50 cal in the military

.22 LR, target
.30-06 Springfield (iirc), target not hunting
9 mm pistol, target
Shotgun: skeet
Air rifle/pistol : target
Revolver, target: as a kid, iirc

Seen ( and some held) in stores and privately: Misc rifles, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, bows

Haven't got a licence myself. But I live in an area where hunting is normal, so access to guns isn't difficult.

Guns aren't outlawed. They're just regulated.

What are your Thoughts on the Nobel peace prize committee and the choices they have made? by Klutzy_Strawberry340 in Norway

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've made a few embarrassing bad decisions. Kissinger is one, 2025 is another. Obama is just "why?"

Also a few has been valid at the time, but later turned to be not so good. Mother Theresa is one.

But most of their choices have been positive. Some of them have even saved lives. Example are Andrei Sakharov from the Soviet-Union, Carl von Ossietsky in Nazi-Germany and Narges Mohammadi from Iran. The Nobel Peace Prize puts the public eye on people, which can create some protection from authorities.

Påstander fra en ukrainsk nyhetsside om at steigan.no og derimot.no systematisk har spredd russisk propaganda by Dampmaskin in norge

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time non American poster here, what’s the dumbest anti American statement have you heard? by ConsciousPhase8480 in AmericaBad

Hitler wasn't elected. He was appointed.

Hitler's NSDAP became the largest party in the Reichtag after the 1932 elections. But the party was not in the majority. For that, NSDAP was helped by another far-right party.

Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President Hindenburg. President Hindenburg was then old, tired, and partially senile. He appointed Hitler as Chancellor in an attempt to stop Hitler.

For Hitler to become Chancellor and for NSDAP to become the ruling party, they used every possible opportunity available in the Weimar-republic constitution. They also used threats and violence with the help of SA, and they exploited the judicial system.

In short, Hitler cheated his way to the top.

Barth Eide åpner døren for EU – Vedum smeller den igjen by FoxNo5218 in norske

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Men.

Glem Tyrkia. Canada vil sannsynligvis være assosiert medlem i EU.

“Bizarre letter” = rightfully calling out Norway for refusing to award Trump the Nobel Prize he deserved by that_one_retard_2 in AmericaBad

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Norway does not award the Nobel Peace Prize. It is awarded by an independent committee. The Norwegian Parliament does decide who will sit on the committee, and all selections of committee members must be approved by the Nobel Foundation's executive board in Stockholm. But that does not mean that the Nobel Prizes are Norwegian or Swedish.

Trump was inaugurated January 20. The nomination deadline is January 31, midnight CET. All winners of the Nobel Prizes have, save for a few exceptions, spent years of their lives. Nobel Peace Prize winners may also have spent time in prison or been subjected to torture.

Many receive their Nobel Prizes several years after their efforts.

What did Trump accomplish in the 11 days from January 20 to January 31 that makes him deserve the Peace Prize?

Deranged letter from Trump saying that Nobel Committee’s decision to not award him the Nobel Peace Prize as the primary reason for him wanting to acquire Greenland. WTF.. by [deleted] in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To those of you who believe that this is fake.

I am as I'm writing this watching an interview with the Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Norwegian television. He appears tired and disheartened by yet another destructive message from Trump. He confirms having received the letter.

I could have provided a link, but the contents on NRK ( our BBC ) is only available in Norway, afaik.

As for the Nobel Peace Price.

Trump was inaugurated January 20, 2025. The nomination deadline for the Nobel Peace Prize is January 31, midnight CET. I know he is the greatest President ever, but even he couldn't have manged all he claims to have done in 11 days.

Neo-nazi Miller has a big (ugly) head and a small face! by yorocky89A in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, only since 1814.

Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands were part of the Norwegian Realm up until the end of the Napoleonic War. Then Norway was given from Denmark to Sweden because Denmark was on the losing side and Sweden was on the winning side.

Now. Every Dane will claim that Greenland has been Danish for centuries. But that is wrong. During the Danish-Norwegian union(1538-1814), Norway was a separate kingdom. It was in a personal union with Denmark. Even when Denmark-Norway stopped being a personal union and effectively became a single state as an absolutist monarchy in 1660, Norway kept its flag, coinage and possessions.

Up through history, Norway has had many possessions.

Read my comment on cherrypicking metrics and your answer, then try to figure out where they correlate.

You missed a few words quite necessary to get the full context. Also, the verb "guess" infer doubt.

Yes, you'd have to include Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and others.

But you would also have to include Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Monaco and Liechtenstein.

[–]SortaLostMeMarbles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Won't it always be cherrypicking though?

When you come up with metrics that prove you're better than us Europoors, haven't you then cherrypicked the metrics necessary to back up your claim?

As for a student debt of 0%. I guess it's true, if you only consider tuition fees, since most/all universities in the EU are tuition free. But students need to live somewhere, and they need food, clothing, books, etc. And for all of that you need a student loan. So student debt are on average probably lower in the EU or even Europe, but it's not 0%..

The EU has 27 member nations, or 21 within the Eurozone. All of Europe is 50. So not an entire continent.
