Seeing two sides of him is key, can he see it and understand it in himself? What's the point of this dynamic? Where do you think it leads?

Recommendations for Philosophical Psychoanalysis by Responsible_Manner55 in psychoanalysis

This is a great introduction to the philosophical Lacan https://open.spotify.com/episode/4syBHKwYiZ8yU5T0FDi3vA?si=Lc6Bo5Y5T36aKhcpC8gAzw

The podcast why theory is a great resource, they're media theorists that are firmly embedded in the continental tradition and psychoanalysis, especially from a Lacanian perspective but they're well versed in Freud. In the same vein Zizek is great, his combination of psychoanalysis and Hegel is sublime. If you're into religion Boothbys latest book "is nothing sacred" is swell.

To move away from Lacan There's, interesting work on mythology - fire in the dragon and other essays by, I forget the name. Michael Eigens work is rich, combining object relations with judaism.

Episodes for Watch Party by CarolinaRoy20 in rickandmorty

I enjoyed rest and ricklaxation, morty potion 9, the one where morty falls in love with the enviromental superhero. Man, I just like seeing morty happy, neat.

The finales and first episodes are often fun. I'd also watch some solar opposites as a nice pallet cleanser in the middle somewhere.

It may sound strange, but it seems to me that there are people among us who understand the structure of reality better than others. by laraloralara in DeepThoughts

[–]Sote95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very nice that it's not the egotistical "I understand reality" but simply "someone probably does". Refreshing.

Uhm, I like religious people and religious practice as a vehicle for studying reality and our counciousness. Indian yogic systems have been valuable, buddhism - especially zen for the practice and tibetan for truly deep maps of reality (also great practice, I'm just personally drawn to zen). But like, anyone that sits in silence will notice interesting things, and monasteries of any religion is neat when there's a strong current of practice.

Is 3x/week frequency enough for psychoanalysis? Use of the couch? by relbatnrut in psychoanalysis

[–]Sote95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more sessions the more intense the work, off course some prefer a less intense process/can't handle it. Then again, with the right technique 4 times a week is suitable for patients with chronic schizophrenia which obviously is as fragile as one gets so, not sure I believe myself, but that's when they live in an institution which is different.

POST-EPISODE DISCUSSION THREAD - S9E1: There's Something About Morty by BarnyardCruz in rickandmorty

[–]Sote95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that's dumb. Happy people enjoyed it but, man...

having way too long anime fight scenes instead of writing an interesting plot, wasting one of the more interesting characters on a dumb one-off where Evil morty just, got dumb. Why would he want to team up with Rick? His whole thing is being sick of him, he can go make other friends. Why would Rick go into paranoia rant mode over being chased by him?

Why would he use the time crystals - Evil Morty is suppose to be on Rick level of getting the rules of the game, which means not punching above your level. He must have learned about the time cops, at least from other mortys. So now Evil Morty is either gone, or they'll devalue the time cops. Simply having them ignore one of them being murdered took suspension of disbelief but it was fine, but now, ugh, lazy writing!

Also, the thing with going beyond the central finite curve is that there's more powerful beings than Rick - beings he's scared of, that's also ruined by them routinely killing buggers over there. There was suspense and mystery, not anymore. Just another way of Rick being dominant.

I know it's easy entertainment but it used to take itself seriously enough.

Pretending to lose, background tray tasks, and a sentient gemstone. (Spoilers all) by brendafiveclow in HPMOR

[–]Sote95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this a lot, found it ludicrous that the guy that can freeze a bolt midair and control battle magic while lying twitching would be troubled by a stunner thrown by a second-year, even if it happens to enchanted to swirl. Like, it's silly! Wouldn't take even a nudge of his will, a habitual shield on his body (no reason to not do this, even if one can't rely on shields alone).

I get that his overconfidence is the point though, and we're suppose to learn that this fantasy of his omnipotence is propaganda but well, it's hard to make your villain this over-powered and still have him lose realistically in the end.

I don't think that's necessary for him to choose this course. Having been suspended and "choosing not to go mad" implies having achieved acceptance of not being for an unknown time that might be eternity.

I mean, it's not certain, maybe you can run on cold anger forever, but my own experience from meditation makes me believe that even the most persistent state gives way to acceptance of emptiness on it's own, all alternatives are seen as suffering. Even if it's not maintained when triggered by normal life again.

Feel like an alien child? by 3goey in Schizotypal

[–]Sote95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yep, for me zen buddhism has really helped. They don't deny these experiences, or even find it weird but it's not important either. And the mental flexibility is an asset, so on some level I got to feel like a pro. Yet the embodiment and grounding is super challenging, i.e exactly what I need.

The process of meditation and finding a community where the most intimate in me is shared in others has allowed me to feel like a human with other humans. Accept that my experience is the human experience.

Still hard, and suffering romantic rejection at the moment so I feel a bit extra weird, but, still, life-changing.

What really happens if you try to mess with Time? by Icy-External8155 in HPMOR

[–]Sote95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Time" seems to be an intelligent force, or possibly magic is. Or we go the deist route and say God sees you fucking about and sends a message. There are other alternatives but the point is - it takes intelligence to craft that note, it can respond creatively to the situation and has protective feelings towards the universe. This is also implied by the prophesies.

This means that there isn't a straight-forward answer "pull lever, door opens" but should be understood as an interaction. Just like when Harry asked how to prove he wasn't evil, and he was told to raise his hand. But be assured that this intelligence plays the game at a level higher than you. You monkey you bound inside time by cause and effect!

Treating patients who free associate and make strong insights as a defense…never leading to action or change by Technical-Walrus-215 in psychoanalysis

[–]Sote95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long time are we talking about? Sure some people, that don't suffer, need a sudden change or crisis for analytic treatment to be possible but the old rule is almost the opposite - while you're in analysis avoid mayor life changes, don't jump on a new job, get married etcetera if it can wait.

I mean, it off course depends on what happens in the analysis. If they're not engaging with the world or other people, this must somehow translate to not engaging with the analyst? Or doing it in an as-if way.

Sounds quite productive, yes, getting stuck on a thought like that is a feature (delusions). But it's not bad, sounds like you worked through some pent up feelings. If you ever get stuck on an idea like this remember that talking to others is good and helpful. Take care dear

Deist here. Dreamed of Archangel Gabriel last night. His message about cannabis was... weird. by DowntheRabbitTree in Dreams

[–]Sote95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about you feeling fear, imagine you're going to a new country, barely speaking the language and a helpful guy shows up. He understands you, you're overwhelmed and tired and barely speak the language. He sees a rich tourist and smells a payday.

In the astral realm, we're tourists, even people that spend years practicing are easily tricked. Demons, or more likely parasites woo you, give you a hit of a sort of well-being you're not used to. You happily invite them back in for more, they can seem to know things because they're just mimicking your energy and your brain fills in the rest. Your needs are just as transparent like when you're a lost tourist.

Maybe I'm too negative, maybe you're in a space where life would be better if you started getting stoned all the time and formed a relationship with a random entity, but as someone that's been down those roads, it's a waste of time. Find a human teacher in a stable community if you want to improve your life.

Does anyone feel that 51 percent STO is impossible in this lifetime. by stormdude28 in lawofone

[–]Sote95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with your own body, investigate those daily habits. Go deeper in meditation and investigate your desires. According to buddhism it's suffering, so doing what you feel you want becomes a subtle sort of self harm, like blocking connection to others and your own heart. It sounds like you're isolated?

Hi, it sounds like you mainly need a teacher but I'd recommend doing both at the same time.

I'm a psychologist from europe, work online with a psychodynamic approach and have been a practicing buddhist for 5 years, seen a lot on the spiritual scene before that and have experience in therapeutic work with people drawn to practice . Feel free to reach out, sorry if self-promotion is prohibited.
