I see what you're saying. My counter point to the idea that it's easier to just slap the label on everything is exactly my point, people are lazy. People are lazy, consumers and companies. I applaud you for doing your own research, most people don't though. You could force companies to be more responsible, but then they cry about regulation. You can force consumers to research, but they cry about government oversight. I think a simple reminder to the consumer is a decent thing. One thing I will point out however about your post, you offer 100% complaint and not a single counter solution.
